PCA를 이용한 연기 영상의 가시도 측정 (Measurement of the Visibility of the Smoke Images using PCA)

  • 고층 빌딩에서 화재가 발생하는 경우 복잡한 구조로 인해 다양한 대피 통로가 존재하며 각 대피 통로의 안전성 여부를 파악하는 것이 어렵다. 고층 빌딩 화재 시 거주자들에게 신속히 탈출 경로를 제공하는 것이 필요하며 이를 위해서 대피 통로의 안정성 여부를 파악할 필요가 있다. 본 논문에서는 대피 통로의 안정성 여부 파악을 위해 영상을 분석하여 화재 시 발생하는 연기로 인한 대피 통로의 가시도를 측정하는 방법을 제안한다. 입력 영상에서 연기를 검출한 후 검출된 연기의 밀도를 알 수 있다면 가시도를 쉽게 측정할 수 있지만, 연기 검출이나 연기 밀도 측정에 관한 적절한 방법이 없어 이러한 접근법을 사용하기는 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 입력 영상에서 배경 영상을 추출하고 이를 학습 데이터로 하여 주성분 분석 학습을 한다. 이후 입력으로 주어지는 영상에서 배경 영상과 연기 영상을 추출하고 학습된 주성분 분석을 적용하여 새로운 특징 공간으로 사상한 후 변화량을 계산하여 연기로 인한 가시도를 측정한다.

컴퓨터 게임 환경에서 일반화 가시성 그래프를 이용한 경로찾기 (Path-finding by using generalized visibility graphs in computer game environments)

  • In state-of-the-art games, characters can move in a goal-directed manner so that they can move to the goal position without colliding obstacles. Many path-finding methods have been proposed and implemented for these characters and most of them use the A* search algorithm. When .the map is represented with a regular grid of squares or a navigation mesh, it often takes a long time for the A* to search the state space because the number of cells used In the grid or the mesh increases for higher resolution. Moreover the A* search on the grid often causes a zigzag effect, which is not optimal and realistic. In this paper we propose to use visibility graphs to improve the search time by reducing the search space and to find the optimal path. We also propose a method of taking into account the size of moving characters in the phase of planning to prevent them from colliding with obstacles as they move. Simulation results show that the proposed method performs better than the grid-based A* algorithm in terms of the search time and space and that the resulting paths are more realistic.

동적 계획법과 이미지 세그먼트를 이용한 스테레오 정합 (Stereo matching using dynamic programming and image segments)

  • 본 논문에서는 동적 계획법(dynamic programming)과 이미지 세그먼트(segment)를 이용한 새로운 스테레오 정합(stereo matching)기법을 제안한다. 일반적으로 동적 계획법(dynamic programming)은 빠르면서도 비교적 정확하고, 조밀(dense)한 disparity map을 얻을 수 있다. 그러나 경계(boundary)근처의 폐색지역(occlusion region)이나, 텍스쳐가 적은 모호한 영역에서는 잘못된 결과를 유도할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점들을 해결하기 위해 먼저 이미지를 아주 작은 영역으로 분할(over-segmentation)하고, 이런 작은 영역들이 비슷한 disparity를 가질 것이라고 가정한다. 다음으로 동적 계획법(dynamic programming)을 통해 정합을 수행한다. 여기서 계산비용(cost)은 기존의 정합윈도우 안에서 세그먼트 영역을 적용한 새로운 비용함수를 사용하며, 이 새로운 비용함수를 통해 정확도를 높인다. 마지막으로 동적 계획법을 통하여 얻어진 조밀한 disparity map을 세그먼트 영역들의 시각특성(visibility)과 유사도(similarity)를 이용하여 에러를 찾아내고, 세그먼트 정합을 통해 수정함으로 정확한 disparity map을 찾아낸다.

가시 정보를 이용한 삼각망의 꼬임 찾기 (Finding Self-intersections of a Triangular Mesh by Using Visibility Maps)

  • This paper presents an algorithm for the triangular mesh intersection problem. The key aspect of the proposed algorithm is to reduce the number of triangle pairs to be checked for intersection. To this end, it employs two different approaches, the Y-group approach and the space partitioning approach. Even though both approaches have the same objective of reducing the number of triangular-triangular intersection (TTI) pairs, their inherent characteristics are quite different. While the V-group approach works by topology (reduces TTI pairs by guaranteeing no intersection among adjacent triangles), the space partitioning approach works by geometry (reduces TTI pairs by guaranteeing no intersection among distant triangles). The complementary nature of the two approaches brings substantial improvement in reducing the number TTI pairs.

Exploratory Study of Developing a Synchronization-Based Approach for Multi-step Discovery of Knowledge Structures

  • As Topic Modeling has been applied in increasingly various domains, the difficulty in naming and characterizing topics also has been recognized more. This study, therefore, explores an approach of combining text mining with network analysis in a multi-step approach. The concept of synchronization was applied to re-assign the top author keywords in more than one topic category, in order to improve the visibility of the topic-author keyword network, and to increase the topical cohesion in each topic. The suggested approach was applied using 16,548 articles with 2,881 unique author keywords in construction and building engineering indexed by KSCI. As a result, it was revealed that the combined approach could improve both the visibility of the topic-author keyword map and topical cohesion in most of the detected topic categories. There should be more cases of applying the approach in various domains for generalization and advancement of the approach. Also, more sophisticated evaluation methods should also be necessary to develop the suggested approach.

Creation of 3D Maps for Satellite Communications to Support Ambulatory Rescue Operations

  • A communications profile is a system that acquires information from communication links to an ambulance or other vehicle moving on a road and compiles a database based on this information. The equipment (six sets of HDTVs, fish-eye camera, satellite antenna with tracking system, and receiving power from the satellite beacon of the N-star) mounted on the roof of the vehicle, image data were obtained at Yokohama Japan. From these data, the polygon of the building was actually produced and has arranged on the map of the Geographical Survey Institute of a 50 m-mesh. The optical study (relationship between visibility rate and elevation angle) were performed on actual data taken by fish-eye lens, and simulated data by 3D-Map with polygons. There was no big difference. This 3D map system then predicts the communication links that will be available at a given location. For line-of-sight communication, optical analysis allows approximation if the frequency is sufficiently high. For non-line-of-sight communication, previously obtained electric power data can be used as reference information for approximation in certain cases when combined with predicted values calculated based on a 3D map. 3D maps are more effective than 2D maps for landing emergency medical helicopters on public roadways in the event of a disaster. Using advanced imaging technologies, we have produced a semi-automatic creation of a high-precision 3D map at Yokohama Yamashita Park and vicinity and assessed its effectiveness on telecommunications and ambulatory merits.

3D맵핑을 이용한 문화재 지정구역 경관관리기법 연구 (A Study on Landscape Management Techniques of Cultural Heritage Designated Area Using 3D Mapping Method)

  • 본 연구는 역사마을 및 명승과 같은 면적문화재의 경관관리를 위한 분석의 기초가 되는 가시분석모델의 구축을 위해 수행되었다. DEM을 이용한 가시권 분석결과와 소형 UAV를 통해 추출된 3D맵핑 데이터를 기반으로 하는 DSM의 가시권 분석결과를 비교한 결과는 다음과 같다. 소형 UAV를 이용하여 취득된 디지털데이터로부터 GSD(Ground Sample Distance) 2cm급의 정사영상 자료 구축 및 DSM을 생성하여 RTK 측량결과를 기준으로 추출데이터에 대한 정확도를 검토한 결과 약 6.5cm 이내의 정확도를 확인하였다. 수치지형도에 건축물의 높이를 적용한 수치표고모델(DEM: $1m{\times}m$)과 소형 UAV를 이용한 수치표면모델(DSM: $20cm{\times}20cm$)의 가시권 분석 자료를 비교한 결과 DEM을 이용한 가시권 분석결과에 비해 가시 영역이 좁고 세밀하게 나타났으며, 가시권 분석결과를 현지사진과 비교한 결과 DSM을 이용한 가시권 분석이 담장, 수목, 하우스 등과 같은 구조물 등이 지형데이터에 반영되어 현실에 가까운 가시권 분석이 가능한 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 3D맵핑 기법을 이용한 가시분석모델은 3D 스캐너와 같은 정밀실측 장비보다 상대적으로 신속하고 저렴한 소형 UAV를 활용하여 필요에 따라 즉각적으로 데이터의 구축을 통해 수시로 변하고 있는 경관의 정보를 효율적으로 취득함으로써 면적문화재의 경관평가 등의 보존관리를 위한 합리적인 분석결과를 제시할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

4D 환경정보를 반영한 광역 경로수정계획 기법에 관한 연구 (An Approach to Global Path Replanning Method Considering 4D Environmental Information)

  • In this paper, a global path replanning method is proposed in order to plan a global path minimizing the risk of the unmanned vehicle on the battlefield. We first introduce 4D environmental information consisting of mobility, visibility, kill, and hit attributes, and a unified threat map and a mobility map are defined by the four attributes. Using the mobility map, the unmanned vehicle can find the shortest path on the traversable area. And then taking into account the deterrent according to the type of the unmanned vehicle on the integrated threat map, the vehicle can generate a route to suppress or avoid the threat of enemy as well. Moreover, we present a waypoints bypassing method to exclude unnecessary waypoints rather than the mission point when planning paths for the multiple waypoints.

베이지안 네트워크 기반 재난 대응 로봇의 탐색 목표 추론 시스템 (A Target Position Reasoning System for Disaster Response Robot based on Bayesian Network)

  • In this paper, we introduce a target position reasoning system based on Bayesian network that selects destinations of robots on a map to explore compound disaster environments. Compound disaster accidents have hazardous conditions because of a low visibility and a high temperature. Before firefighters enter the environment, the robots notify information in advance, such as victim's positions, number of victims, and status of debris of building. The problem of the previous system is that the system requires a target position to operate the robots and the firefighter need to learn how to use the robot. However, selecting the target position is not easy because of the information gap between eyewitness accounts and map coordinates. In addition, learning the technique how to use the robots needs a lot of time and money. The proposed system infers the target area using Bayesian network and selects proper x, y coordinates on the map based on image processing methods of the map. To verify the proposed system, we designed three example scenarios based on eyewetinees testimonies and compared time consumption between human and the system. In addition, we evaluate the system usability by 40 subjects.

Testing The Healing Environment Conditions for Nurses with two Independent Variables: Visibility Enhancement along with Shortening the Walking Distance of the Nurses to Patient - Focused on LogWare stop sequence and space syntax for U-Shape, L- Shape and I-Shape NS-

  • Purpose: Maximizing human comfort in design of medical environments depends immensely on specialized architects particularly critical care design; the study proposes Evidence-Based Design as an apparent analog to Evidence-Based Medicine. Healthcare facility designs are substantially based on the findings of study in an effort to design environments that augment care by improving patient safety and being therapeutic. On SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) t-test is applied to simulate two independent variables of PDR (Pre Design-Research) and POE (Post- Occupancy Evaluation). PDR is conducted on relatively new hospital Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital to analyse visibility from researchers' point of view, here the ICU is arranged in I-Shape. POE is applied on Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital to simulate walking on LogWare where two NS are designed based on L- Shape and Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, The Catholic University of Korea where five NS are functional for ICU Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Critical Care Unit (CCU), Korean Oriental Medical Care Unit which are mostly arranged in U-Shape, and walking pattern is recognized to be in a zigzag path. Method: T-Test is applied on two dependent communication variables: walkability and visibility, with confidence interval of 95%. This study systematically analyses the Nurse Station (NS) typo-morphology, and simulates nurse horizontal circulation, by computing round route visits to patient's bed, then estimating minimum round route on LogWare stop sequence software. The visual connectivity is measured on depth map graphs. Hence the aim is to reduce staff stress and fatigue for better patients care by minimizing staff horizontal travel time and to facilitate nurse walk path and support space distribution by increasing effectiveness in delivering care. Result: Applying visibility graph and isovist field on space syntax on I- Shape, L- Shape and U- Shape ICU (SICU, MICU and CCU) configuration, I-shape facilitated 20% more patients in linear view as they stir to rise from their beds from nurse station compared to U-shape. In conclusion, it was proved that U-Shape supply minimum walking and maximum visibility; and L shape provides just visibility as the nurse is at pivot. I shape provides panoramic view from the Nurse Station but very rigorous walking.
