  • The growth of virtual reality games and the popularization of blockchain technology are bringing significant changes to the formation of the metaverse industry ecosystem. Especially, after Meta acquired Oculus, a VR device and application company, the growth of VR-based metaverse services is accelerating. In this study, the concept that supports leisure activities in the metaverse environment is explored realting to game-like features in VR apps, which differentiates traditional mobile apps based on a smart phone device. Using exploratory text mining methods and network analysis approches, 241 apps registed in the Oculus Quest 2 App Store were analyzed. Analysis results from a quasi-network show that a leisure concept is closely related to various genre features including a game and tourism. Additionally, the anlaysis results of G & F model indicate that the leisure concept is distictive in the view of gateway brokerage role. Those results were also confirmed in LDA topic modeling analysis.

  • Due to the recent developments of attaining 3D contents by using devices such as 3D scanners, the diversity of the contents being used in AR(Augmented Reality)/VR(Virutal Reality) fields is significantly increasing. There are several ways to represent 3D data, and using point clouds is one of them. A point cloud is a cluster of points, having the advantage of being able to attain actual 3D data with high precision. However, in order to express 3D contents, much more data is required compared to that of 2D images. The size of data needed to represent dynamic 3D point cloud objects that consists of multiple frames is especially big, and that is why an efficient compression technology for this kind of data must be developed. In this paper, a motion estimation and compensation method for dynamic point cloud objects using 3D DCT is proposed. This will lead to switching the 3D video frames into I frames and P frames, which ensures higher compression ratio. Then, we confirm the compression efficiency of the proposed technology by comparing it with the anchor technology, an Intra-frame based compression method, and 2D-DCT based V-PCC.

  • The size of the home interior market is growing rapidly as interest in interiors and self-interiors has increased due to the recent rapid increase in single-person households. Most of the Bathroom remodeling is done by requesting an offline interior contractor and then visually checking it in the final completion stage, so it is not easy to re-construct even if the customer is dissatisfied. Therefore, this study developed an immersive virtual reality-based Bathroom self-remodeling system that can visually check space and design from the design stage to the final stage by incorporating VR technology to feel realistic in virtual reality. The bathroom structure may select the basic structure of the predefined bathroom space or freely set the size of the bathroom space. For furniture items, you can choose the washbasin, toilet, bathtub, shower booth that are essential elements of the bathroom and others(mounting rack, trash bin, handle). The tile texture may change the texture of the selected tile at a desired wall position by selecting various textures. In particular,, the texture of the wall tile can be varied by selecting horizontal, vertical and inclined directions at the desired angle according to the needs of the user and the contractor. As a future research project, this system will enable indoor sharing between users who are physically far away in real-time, allowing direct experience in virtual spaces, connection to purchases, and request estimates.
