  • The increasing of Cloud Computing technology among several companies has been a key strategy for IT services to provide desirable IT solutions to consumers of cloud services. More attention is concentrated to these core technologies that enable cloud services and more particularly to the virtualization aspect. The accessibility to a larger number of users is possible because of the usage of the data-intensive, data management and data integrity. Unfortunately, those useful services are vulnerable to kind of attacks by hackers, thus the security of personal information is in critical situation. To solve this to leakage vulnerability, and with the proliferation of cloud services, the cloud service providers adopt a security system with firewall, antivirus software and a large number of virtualized servers and Host. In this paper, a variety of virtualization technologies, threats and vulnerabilities are described with a complement of different security solutions as countermeasures.

  • The Ministry of National Defense announced 'Defense Reform 2.0' that aims to strengthen the country's security for decrease of regional uncertainties, growing requirements for advanced technologies, and a need for more efficiency in the Republic of Korea(RoK) Armed Forces this year. It said RoK Armed Forces have to change efficiently in preparation for rapid decline in military service resources as demographic cliff turning into reality, and the rapid evolution of the "battlefield environment" caused by developments in military science and technologies. RoK Navy combat Management System(CMS) made by domestic proprietary technology since 2000s and development centered on Agency for Defense Development require design changes for added requirements. So in this paper, I propose method of design a low cost and high efficiency navy CMS architecture based on high performance server and virtualization technology. And I create a test environment for analysis performance and compare the performance of proposed navy CMS and existing navy CMS.

  • The purpose of access control is to prevent computing resources from illegal behavior such as leakage, modification, and destruction by unauthorized users. As the cloud computing environment is expanded to resource sharing services using virtualization technology, a new security model and access control technique are required to provide dynamic and secure cloud-based computing services. The virtualization management convergence access control model provides a flexible user authorization function by applying the dynamic privilege assignment function to the role based access control mechanism. In addition, by applying access control mechanism based on security level and rules, we solve the conflict problem in virtual machine system and guarantee the safeness of physical resources. This model will help to build a secure and efficient cloud-based virtualization management system and will be expanded to a mechanism that reflects the multi-level characteristics.

  • In this paper, proposed client virtualization technology to minimize degradation of the local computing environment, efficient and qualified users in the area of virtual functions needed to enable the user to provide important information in the local computing environment protection and performance, stability and continuity was important to keep. As well as the local computing environment from malicious code attacks such as methods for protecting virtualized domain also can not be overlooked as a major problem area in a virtualized, virtualized data through the encryption of user-space security, maximized. In addition, through virtualization using local computing resources efficiently while still a local computing system separate from the computing resources to a single user can get the same effect.

  • The importance of network separation is due to the use of the Internet with existing business PCs, resulting in an internal information leakage event, and an environment configured to allow servers to access the Internet, which causes service failures with malicious code. In order to overcome this problem, it is necessary to use network virtualization to separate networks and network interconnection systems. Therefore, in this study, the construction area was constructed into the network area for the Internet and the server farm area for the virtualization system, and then classified and constructed into the security system area and the data link system area between networks. In order to prove the excellence of the proposed method, a network separation construction study using network virtualization was conducted based on the basis of VM Density's conservative estimates of program loads and LOBs.

  • Container-based virtualization reduces performance overhead compared with other virtualization technologies and guarantees an isolation of each virtual execution environment. So, it is being studied to block access to host resources or container resources for sandboxing in restricted system resource like embedded devices. However, because security threats which are caused by security vulnerabilities of the host OS or the security issues of the host environment exist, the needs of the technology to prevent an illegal accesses and unauthorized behaviors by malware has to be increased. In this paper, we define additional access permissions to access a virtual execution environment newly and control them in kernel space to protect attacks from illegal access and unauthorized behaviors by malware and suggest the Container Access Control to control them. Also, we suggest a way to block a loading of unauthenticated kernel driver to disable the Container Access Control running in host OS by malware. We implement and verify proposed technologies on Linux Kernel.

  • Virtual environment is widely used for analyzing malware which is increasing very rapidly. However, knowing this trend, hackers are adopting virtual environment detection techniques for malware to kill itself or stop malicious behaviors when detecting virtual environments. Various research is going on in order to thwart any efforts to utilize anti-virtualization techniques, but until now several techniques can evade most of well known virtual environments, making malware analysis very difficult. Emulab developed by Utah University assigns real systems and networks as researchers want in realtime. This research seeks how to use Emulab for malware analysis.

  • Recently, as the service scale of cloud service is expanded, an anxiety due to concerns on new vulnerabilities and security related incidents and accidents are also increasing. This paper proposes a certification scheme for multiple session management of security sessions which are generated after the user authentication. The proposed session multiplexing scheme enables the independent management of security sessions in the level of virtualization (hypervisor) within the service provider. As a result of performance analysis, providing a strong safety due to session multiplexing and mutual authentication, and the superiority of performance was proven by comparing it with the existing mutual authentication encryption algorithms.

Then we describe examples of security attacks and corresponding security technologies for each of them. We introduce security technologies based on Software Defined Network (SDN) for Reliability, security technologies based on hypervisor and virtualization for Availability, disaster restoration systems for Serviceability, authorization and access control technologies for Integrity, and encryption algorithms for Security. We believe that this paper provide wise view and necessary information for recent cloud system security technologies.
