  • A lot of games are supposed to play through controller operations, such as mouse and keyboard rather than user's physical movement. These games have limitation that causes the user lack of movement. Therefore, this study will solve the problems that these traditional game systems have through the development of a motion-producing system, and provide users more realistic system. It recognizes the user's position in a given space and provides a mobile augmented reality system that interacts with virtual game characters. It uses augmented reality technology to make users feel as if virtual characters exist in real space and it designs a mobile game system that uses armband controllers that interact with virtual characters.

  • Augmented reality makes the relationship between real world and virtual world. The basic goal of an AR system is to enhance the user's perception of and interaction with the real world through supplementing the real world with 3D virtual objects that appear to coexist in the same space as the real world. ARToolkit is widely used toolkit to develop any AR application. However, to do so, a lot of researcher faced many challenges and limitations. In this paper we comprehensively review some selected challenging issues using ARToolkit to develop AR system. And then, we implement a real application for augmented text book with sounds and 3D virtual objects which we called here AR Traffic Book concerning these challenging issues by ARToolkit. In this paper our foremost approaches on the most common challenging issues such as virtual object rendering, camera calibration and tracking.

  • Projection-based augmented reality (AR) system refers to the system that accurately project high quality virtual information at the user-specified area by using the projector. Most of projection-based AR systems use the display device to support high quality and wide screen for increasing the user-immersion. Furthermore, they are implemented on the desktop environment due to the computational complexity. However, these projection-based AR systems are not suited as a mobile system and thus it may be inconvenient in the user point of view. Fortunately, Miniaturization of projectors and improved capacity of the mobile processor allowed the mobile AR system to be convenient. The limitation of established mobile AR system is that it uses small display screen which does not support high-resolutions and thus it may reduce the user-immersion into the system. In this paper, we propose portable projection-based display system, which overcomes the limitations of both projection-based and mobile-based AR systems. We have conducted the user evaluation to verify the effectiveness and the utmost capacity of the system.

  • Digital therapy using extended reality (XR) holds great promise for addressing the mental health needs of adolescents and young adults. This study addresses a notable research gap in South Korea by systematically reviewing XR-based digital therapy for the mental health of South Korean adolescents and young adults. We analyzed 26 studies encompassing various aspects, including study type, publication date, research field, research methodology, data sources, program types, program content, sample characteristics, target population, assessment tools, and program effectiveness. Notably, 46.15% of the studies employed an experimental design, whereas over 53% utilized non-experimental approaches. Experimental studies lacked a genuine design, standardized questionnaires, and control variables. Similarly, non-experimental studies failed to report specific literature selection criteria. Consequently, future studies should adopt rigorous methodologies to enhance reliability and validity. Moreover, over 85% of the 26 studies focused solely on virtual reality and did not incorporate augmented or mixed reality. This study identifies the limitations of the previous research. These findings emphasize the need for structured investigations to advance the development of XR-based digital therapy to promote mental health in adolescents and young adults in South Korea.

  • Recent advanced interlace technologies allow the user to interact with different spaces such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Ubiquitous Computing (UC) spaces. Here, we present a LEGO House application, a collaborative application which involves multi interaction spaces -VR, AR and UC spaces. The LEGO House application is built based on the VARU framework which is designed for enabling the prototyping of a tangible space application. The application is about an interior design. One user is located in the combined AR and UC space and interacts with the AR LEGO house and the physical smart devices. The other users interact with the virtual LEGO house but they share the same environment, the LEGO house. Therefore, they can collaborate together as they are co-located.

  • Recently, realistic contents using virtual reality and augmented reality are attracting attention as learning aids. 3D-based contents have the advantage of being able to observe and experience objects from various angles than 2D-based contents shown on a flat surface. In this paper, we propose a content design based on 3D model for Arduino learning in a virtual environment. The Arduino board and sensor were implemented using Blender, and a 3D-based simulator environment was constructed using the Unity engine. The proposed content uses the Arduino board and sensor implemented in 3D so that learners can easily experience the working principle of Arduino and the coding process.

  • In general, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are technologies used to overcome the limitations of space and time in human communications. Currently, VR and AR companies are mostly developing contents for a single user. However, it is expected that there will be a need for sharing experiences among two or more users in a VR/AR environment. In this paper, we investigate the trends in remote collaboration technologies for VR/AR that allow two or more users to share video, voice, and gestures, as well as emotions. We will also discuss the future of such technologies.

  • Augmented reality (AR), which integrates virtual media into reality, is increasingly utilized across various industrial sectors, thanks to advancements in 3D graphics and mobile device technologies. The IT industry is thus carrying out active R&D activities about AR platforms. Google plays a significant role in the AR landscape, with a focus on ARCore services. An essential aspect of ARCore is the use of anchors, which serve as reference points that help maintain the position and orientation of virtual objects within the physical environment. However, if the accuracy of anchor positioning is suboptimal when running AR content, it can significantly diminish the user's immersive experience. We are to assess the performance of these anchors in this study. To conduct the performance evaluation, virtual 3D objects, matching the shape and size of real-world objects, we strategically positioned ourselves to overlap with their physical counterparts. Images of both real and virtual objects were captured from five distinct camera trajectories, and ARCore's performance was analyzed by examining the difference between these captured images.
