The purpose of this paper is to analyze GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite orbital mechanics, and then to propose a novel long-term GPS satellite orbit prediction scheme including virtual planet perturbation. The GPS orbital information is a necessary prerequisite to pinpointing the location of a GPS receiver. When a GPS receiver has been shut down for a long time, however, the time needed to fix it before its reuse is too long due to the long-standing GPS orbital information. To overcome this problem, the GPS orbital mechanics was studied, such as Newton's equation of motion for the GPS satellite, including the non-spherical Earth effect, the luni-solar attraction, and residual perturbations. The residual perturbations are modeled as a virtual planet using the least-square algorithm for a moment. Through the modeling of the virtual planet with the aforementioned orbital mechanics, a novel GPS orbit prediction scheme is proposed. The numerical results showed that the prediction error was dramatically reduced after the inclusion of virtual planet perturbation.
A virtual vessel traffic control system is introduced to contribute to prevent a marine accident such as collision and stranding from happening. Existing VTS has its limit. The virtual vessel traffic control system consists of both data acquisition by satellite remote sensing and a simulation of traffic environment stress based on the satellite data, remotely sensed data And it could be used to provide timely and detailed information about the marine safety, including the location, speed and direction of ships, and help us operate vessels safely and efficiently. If environmental stress values are simulated for the ship information derived from satellite data, proper actions can be taken to prevent accidents. Since optical sensor has a high spatial resolution, JERS satellite data are used to track ships and extract their information. We present an algorithm of automatic identification of ship size and velocity. It lastly is shown that based on ship information extracted from JERS data, a qualitative evaluation method of environmental stress is introduced.
Interactive simulators that simulate mechanical systems are being developed for the purpose of performance evaluation of product design, replacement of physical training, and entertainment game. Use of flight simulator is increasing to reduce risk and cost of physical training, and we need virtual environment which covers large area terrain. We need a method that can reduce development cost and construction time of virtual environment that simulate the real environment. There have been attempts to link GIS or remote sensing field with virtual reality. This paper examines a method that helps to construct virtual environment, and attempts to link geographic information with virtual reality. A construction method of virtual environment based on digital map and satellite image has been studied.
The use of satellite remote sensing in maritime safety and security can aid in the detection of illegal fishing activities and provide more efficient use of limited aircraft or patrol craft resources. In the area of vessel traffic monitoring for commercial vessels, Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) which use the ground-based radar system have some difficulties in detecting moving ships due to the limited detection range. A virtual vessel traffic control system is introduced to contribute to prevent a marine accident such as collision and stranding from happening. Existing VTS has its limit. The virtual vessel traffic control system consists of both data acquisition by satellite remote sensing and a simulation of traffic environment stress based on the satellite data, remotely sensed data. We present an algorithm of automatic identification of ship size and velocity. This paper lastly introduce the field testing results of ship detection by RADARSAT SAR imagery, and propose a new approach for a Vessel Monitoring System(VMS), including VTS, and SAR combination service.

The needs for digital models of real environment such as 3D terrain or cyber city model are increasing. Most of applications related with modeling and simulation require virtual environment constructed from geospatial information of real world in order to guarantee reliability and accuracy of the simulation. The most fundamental data for building virtual environment, terrain elevation and orthogonal imagery is acquired from optical sensor of satellite or airplane. Providing interoperable and reusable digital model is important to promote practical application of high-resolution satellite imagery. This paper presents the new research regarding representation of geospatial information, especially for 3D shape and appearance of virtual terrain, and describe framework for constructing real-time 3D model of large terrain based on high-resolution satellite imagery. It provides infrastructure of 3D simulation with geographical context. Details of standard-based approach for providing infrastructure of real-time 3D simulation using high-resolution satellite imagery are also presented. This work would facilitate interchange and interoperability across diverse systems and be usable by governments, industry scientists and general public.

이를 위해 고해상도 GeoTIFF(Geonraphic Tag Image File Format) 위성영상과 DTED(Digital Terrain Elevation Data)를 이용하여 현실감 있는 3차원 모델을 생성(운용자용)하고 입력된 CCD 영상(운용자 훈련자용)으로부터 도로를 추출하였다.
본 논문은 MF-TDMA(Multi-Frequency Time Division Multiple Access) 위성네트워크에서 가상할당기반 요구기반 다중접속 기법인 VADAMA(Virtual Allocation Demand Assigned Multiple Access) 기법에서 제어메시지 충돌로 인한 지연시간을 줄이는 방안을 제안한다.

The satellite Chollian was successfully launched on June 27, 2010 and is expected to perform its communication, oceanographic, and meteorological duties for seven years. The follow-up launch of the Chollian satellite is already being planned, and diverse studies are under way to enable the use of the Korean satellite data. Studies are also being actively conducted in and out of Korea to visualize the meteorological data on the open-source virtual globes. The meteorological data include ground observation, satellite, and digital-model data. In this study, an efficient three-dimensional technique was developed to visualize typhoons on the virtual globes using the Chollian satellite data. This study was conducted to provide service to the public via the scientific visualization of the satellite image data, and to create an efficient satellite image analysis environment for meteorological researchers.
