Human hair experience tensile forces during combing, bleaching and permanent dyeing processes. We have used rheometer to characterize bleached hair tensile response. Also, we investigated to morphological changes after tensile test of virgin hair and bleached hair using scanning electron microscopy. In tensile test, the tensile strength of virgin hair was $14.66g/cm^2$. They were measured as $12.95g/cm^2$, $12.61g/cm^2$ and $11.43g/cm^2$ for after the first, the second and the third trials of bleaching were done, respectively. Virgin hair had a higher tensile force than bleached hair. Tensile strength got lowered as more bleaching trials were done. In the observation of scanning electron microscopy, the fracture and lift-off of the cuticle outer layer were shown in virgin hair and bleached hair. The bleached hair were more lifted off at the outer cuticle layer than virgin hair. Consequently, chemical damage of bleaching agent caused weakening of the outer cuticle in the hair.
In order to express the ideal appearance, everyone, regardless of age or gender, invests boldly in appearance management. In particular, hair coloring and hair styling using irons are widely used and used. have. Therefore, for the purpose of presenting the efficient use of flat irons, the study of thermal analysis of virgin hair and bleach hair in 120℃ heat treatment is conducted. As a result of the study, it was found that the overall weight of bleached hair decreased more than that of virgin hair at all treatment temperatures of flat irons. Through this thermal analysis study that measures the weight change according to the temperature rise of virgin and bleached hair, beauty consumers provide information on the optimal temperature flat ironing procedure that can minimize hair damage and discoloration while maintaining color in hair subjected to physical friction. It is believed that it will provide them efficiently.
In this study, we investigated tensile properties and ultrastructural changes of straight permed hair using the rheometer and the scanning electron microscopy. First, we compared the morphological characteristic between the virgin hair and the straight permed hair after testing tensile strength. Cuticle cells were heavily lifted off in straight permed hair than in the virgin hair. Cuticle cells were separated by the destruction of intercellular membrane complex and no destruction or damage were found in cytoplasm. In the comparative test for tensile characteristic between the virgin hair and the straight permed hair, tensile distance of the straight permed hair was decreased by 24.5% or 3.05 mm than the virgin hair. The tensile strength was decreased by 34.63% or $5.62\;g/cm^2$ and the maximum stress by 34.59% or 56.12 g. As a result, the tensile property dropped to the lowest level with the straight permed hair than with the bleached hair or the permanent dyed hair of previous studies.
We investigated the burning process of the virgin hair and straight permed hair using thermal analyser and scanning electron microscopy. After the thermal analysis, we found that weight started to change from $100^{\circ}C$. Whereas straight permed hair has weight decrease rate of 2.6% higher than the virgin hair till $200^{\circ}C$, those were 64.9% and 64.4% for the virgin and straight permed hairs, respectively at $300^{\circ}C$. At $400^{\circ}C$, the weight decrease rate of the virgin hair became lower than the other; they were 32.3% and 33.4% for the virgin and straight permed hairs, respectively. Final values were 25.4% and 28.3% at $500^{\circ}C$, which showed that final weight of burnt straight permed hair was higher than the virgin hair by about 2.9%. In terms of morphological changes, the hair started to melt together with adjacent ones by burning till $300^{\circ}C$. The medulla and cortex were melt and the inside was empty like bamboo. The hair burnt till $500^{\circ}C$ was entirely carbonized and found as a clod. We found many blowholes at the surface of the hair clump.
In this study, we investigated the morphological and physical changes of hair after bleaching treatments with different concentration of hydrogen peroxide in bleaching agent (3, 6, 9, or 12%) and various treatment time (10, 30, or 60 minutes). Tresses of virgin black hair were bleached using a commercial ammonium persulfate-hydrogen peroxide solution. The tensile strength of virgin hair treated with a bleaching agent depended on the concentration of hydrogen peroxide and the treatment time. As the concentration of hydrogen peroxide in bleaching agent went high and the treatment time increased, the tensile strength of the hair increased but the extension degree decreased. The virgin hairs which were not treated by bleaching agent showed morphologically healthy cuticle, whereas the bleached hairs showed swelled and damaged cuticle patterns. The swelling of the hair and the breaks of the cuticles increased positively by the concentration of hydrogen peroxide and the treatment time. These results suggest that exposure to more concentrated hydrogen peroxide with other bleaching components may lead to more severe hair damage.
In this study, we compared the stress and tensile strength of the hair treated with oxidative permanent dye with those of virgin hair. We investigated the fine structure of the hair section after the tensile test using scanning electron microscopy. The tensile strength of the virgin hair was measured as $14.66\;g/cm^2$, tensile energy was $108\;erg/cm^2$, and the maximum stress was 146.64g. Those of the dyed hair were $13.69\;g/cm^2$, $89.62\;erg/cm^2$ and 136.90 g, respectively. The differences in the tensile strength, the tensile energy and the maximum stress were $-0.97\;g/cm^2$, $-18.38\;erg/cm^2$, -9.74 g, respectively, which showed that the dyed hair had less elasticity and strength than the virgin hair. In the scanning electron microscopy investigation of the damaged hair after the tensile test, lift-off of the cuticle outer layer were shown in both virgin hair and dyed hair, which was more severe in the dyed hair than the virgin hair. Adjacent cuticular cells of the cuticle layer were separated by the destruction of intercellular membrane complex. The macrofibrils were exposed and separated from the cortex torn by tensile strength.
Modern people are investing a lot of time and economically in their appearance as a means of expressing their aesthetic desires. They have a lot of hair dyes that make up most of their appearance, but their hair damage is serious. Especially, they use hair dyes which are very popular among the hair cosmetics that make up most of their appearance, but their hair damage is serious. The purpose of this study is to investigate the hair tensile strength of hair with oxidative hair dye to induce styling while minimizing hair damage. The results showed that the Max. load, Max. stress, Max. elongation, break load, break stress, break elongation, maximum modulus and tangential modulus according to evaluation interval were significantly different between control and 8N-10N experimental groups. The maximum modulus and tangential modulus for the strain interval did not show tendency to increase or decrease constantly, although there was a difference between the control and experimental group. Therefore this study was conducted to investigate the correlation between hair loss and hair damage through the treatment of high grade oxidative hair dye, which is widely used in ield of industry. We want to provide application data.

In this study, we have investigated the effects of ultraviolet (UV) irradiation on the external and internal structure of human hair. For changes in morphological and chemical structure of UV-exposed hair, we utilized several microscopic techniques such as scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM), and etc. The SEM showed the scales of UV-exposed hair appeared to be rough and bulkier because of chemical oxidation during UV irradiation. Small bulgy area of UV_exposed hair surface was appeared as a result of the decomposition in cysteic acid. In the TEM picture the UV-exposed hair showed the cleaved aperture of hair and destruction of melanin granules. Three dimensional topographical images were obtained by using CLSM. In the optical single section, high fluorescent intensity appeared in virgin hair. In the case of UV-exposed hair, low fluorescence intensity appeared. This means the aromatic amino acids in virgin hair were more abundant than UV-exposed hair.

This research investigated the protective effect on hair for 3 commercial hair oil products containing UV filters upon UVA and UVB irradiation. Hair tresses each weighing 2 g were prepared from black virgin hair. Hair tresses treated with 0.5 g of hair oil were irradiated by UVA (365 nm) and UVB (302 nm) lamp for up to 600 hours. Color of hair was measured using a spectrocolorimeter, tensile strength and elongation of hair were measured using a biological tensile tester, surface morphology was examined using a scanning electron microscope. Experimental results were analyzed using SPSS statistical software. Hair color and tensile strength were both affected by UVA and UVB irradiation. Significant differences in the color and tensile strength were observed between untreated hair and hair treated with hair oils. Good UV protective effect observed in Oil 2 and Oil 3 was attributable to the type and the combination of UV filters contained in the products.
In this paper, the damage of hair and wave shape in process of the dyeing, bleaching, and permanent hair wave are simulated. The virgin hair that do not process the dyeing, bleaching, and permanent hair wave becomes stable in the scale type. On the other hand, the hair that deals with the dyeing, bleaching, and permanent hair wave is heavily damaged in the scale type. It is observed that the higher pH is decided, the higher the hair is damaged because the scale damage in the bleaching hair is more heavily damaged than the dyeing hair. In case of executing the permanent hair wave, the processing of the plaine rinsing becomes less in the scale damage of the hair and better in the wave form. Therefore, it is found that the processing of the plaine rinsing to improve the wave form and to prevent the hair damage is needed.
