Effect of Atmospheric Music and Advertising Photo on Consumers' Emotional State and Approach Behavior in Fashion Store (패션점포 내 배경음악과 광고사진이 소비자의 정서 및 접근행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of two different characteristics of music(tempo) and advertising photograph(type) in a fashion store on consumers' emotional responses and approach behavior and to suggest competitive in-store atmospheric strategies. To test the conceptual model, this study used a video simulation method. Researchers selected a fashion casual wear retail store for young people and videotaped to provide realistic store settings. Two different levels of background music(fast, slow) and advertising photograph(sexy, cheerful) were inserted into the video clip generating four stimuli. Including a stimulus for the control group, 5 video clips were created. A total of 289 subjects answered the questionnaire after viewing a two-minute video clips. The results are as follows: First, advertising photograph in a store had a significant effect on consumers' in-store emotional state, whereas musical tempo did not. Second, the effect of in-store consumers' emotional state on behavioral reponses were investigated. Results showed that consumers' positive emotional state lead to consumers' approach behavior. The results of this study indicated that background music and advertising photograph in a fashion store affected consumers' in-store emotional state, and ultimately these affected consumers' positive approach behavior. Thus retailer should try to create a pleasant store environment using effective store atmospheric factors like background music and advertising photograph.

Design and Implementation of Clipcast Service via Terrestrial DMB (지상파 DMB를 이용한 클립캐스트 서비스 설계 및 구현)

  • Design and Implementation of Clipcast Service via Terrestrial DMB This paper outlines the system design and the implementation process of clipcast service that can send clips of video, mp3, text, images, etc. to terrestrial DMB terminals. To provide clipcast service in terrestrial DMB, a separate data channel needs to be allocated and this requires changes in the existing bandwidth allocation. Clipcast contents can be sent after midnight at around 3 to 4 AM, when terrestrial DMB viewship is low. If the video service bit rate is lowered to 352 Kbps and the TPEG service band is fully used, then 320 Kbps bit rate can be allocated to clipcast. To enable clipcast service, the terminals' DMB program must be executed, and this can be done through SMS and EPG. Clipcast service applies MOT protocol to transmit multimedia objects, and transmits twice in carousel format for stable transmission of files. Therefore, 72Mbyte data can be transmitted in one hour, which corresponds to about 20 minutes of full motion video service at 500Kbps data rate. When running the clip transmitted through terrestrial DMB data channel, information regarding the length of each clip is received through communication with the CMS(Content Management Server), then error-free files are displayed. The clips can be provided to the users as preview contents of the complete VOD contents. In order to use the complete content, the user needs to access the URL allocated for that specific content and download the content by completing a billing process. This paper suggests the design and implementation of terrestrial DMB system to provide clipcast service, which enables file download services as provided in MediaFLO, DVB-H, and the other mobile broadcasting systems. Unlike the other mobile broadcasting systems, the proposed system applies more reliable SMS method to activate the DMB terminals for highly stable clipcast service. This allows hybrid, i.e, both SMS and EPG activations of terminals for clipcast services.

  • Ever-evolving diverse communication tools bring numerous changes and improvements into the lives of humans. It is extremely important to provide visual information when communicating with consumers in the commercial arena because humans acquire over eighty percent of the information around them through sense of sight. One cannot compete with just sheer quality in today's world. Therefore, the applications of digital technology in the visual merchandising became crucial, for it can dramatically improve the market value. Among these applications is digital signage, a new media for esthetic experience. I strongly believe that this would be a new marketing tool for the brand's distinctive and unique publicity. This research has been conducted in order to find out how the fast-growing digital signage, defined by the contents, has become not just a mere digital video clip but an esthetic merchandising tool that can produce various effective marketing strategies; and to discover the characteristics that this application has brought out in the visual merchandising field of fashion stores' global SPA brands. Based on the market case study, analyses have been made for the digital signage types and strategies regarding the visual merchandising expressive elements and for the effects the digital signage application will have on publicity. According to the results, the digital signage has proven to be informative, diversely applicable and contributes greatly to the increase in sales and to the improvement of company and brand image. Thus, it is much more than just a media tool for advertisement.

  • In this paper, we proposed the content-based music information retrieval technique using some MPEG-7 low-level descriptors. Especially, pitch information and timbral features can be applied in music genre classification, music retrieval, or QBH(Query By Humming) because these can be modeling the stochasticpattern or timbral information of music signal. In this work, we restricted the music domain as O.S.T of movie or soap opera to apply broadcasting system. That is, the user can retrievalthe information of the unknown music using only an audio clip with a few seconds extracted from video content when background music sound greeted user's ear. We proposed the audio feature set organized by MPEG-7 descriptors and distance function by vector distance or ratio computation. Thus, we observed that the feature set organized by pitch information is superior to timbral spectral feature set and IFCR(Intra-Feature Component Ratio) is better than ED(Euclidean Distance) as a vector distance function.   • This study analyzed characteristics which emerged while 45 secondary school teachers observed a video clip about a statistics instruction. The aim of this study based on the analysis was to deduct implications in terms of the various means which would enhance teachers' knowledge in teaching statistics and assist in designing statistics education programs for teachers and professional development initiatives. To achieve this goal, this research firstly developed framework descriptors which provided this study with theoretical foundations to investigate what characteristics appeared in the teachers' observation. Secondly, this study probed the observation results from the teachers in the light of the framework. Therefore, some issues in the teacher education program for teaching statistics were thirdly identified in the categories of 'focus of instruction', 'role of the teacher and discourse' and 'data and technology' based on the analysis. This research inspires the elaboration of exactly what features effective statistics classes have through the framework descriptors and additionally the elucidation of essential matters relevant to statistics education on the basis of the issues.

Effects of Perceived Air Pollution on the Negative Emotion, Physical Symptoms and Future Perspectives (지각된 대기오염이 부정 정서, 신체증상 및 미래 조망에 미치는 영향)

  • Air pollution is a severe risk factor in public health. It is not only a cause of a variety of physical disorders but also attributable to mental health problems. This study aimed to investigate the differences on emotions, physical symptoms, future perspectives by perceived air pollution. Sixty-one university students were randomly allocated either to air pollution group (n = 30) or clean air group (n = 31). Participants watched a news video clip of a polluted city or a clean city according to their condition and were asked to imagine as if they were living in the city. Results showed that air pollution group reported increased depression, anxiety, anger and physical symptoms after the exposure. Meanwhile, clean air group showed no significant changes or decrease of them. In addition, air pollution group reported restrained future time perspectives and decreased plan of outdoor activities, while clean air group did not report significant changes after the exposure.

  • This study was to develop and apply the avatar art activity as a career search program to find out the possibility of oneself based on self-understanding and to find out the value of work. Furthermore, this study has suggested the effect obtained by appreciating their own business card and images in the use of color code media. Art program has been conducted for five sessions in 'past tense' 'present tense' and 'future tense' on first graders in Middle School. As a result education effect obtained from the art program for career exploration in manufacturing Avatar is as follows. First, there was an effect as to how students ended up knowing their inner strength through mind-map realizing their characteristics and personal interest. Secondly, Avatar was manufactured by enhancing an understanding about them through self-exploration. Third, students appreciated their 'business card' and 'video clip' by using color code media building self-leading attitude in realizing career design.

  • The aim of this study is to develop a scale measuring satisfaction to ubiquitous services. Since the ubiquitous service is not vet implemented but under development, conventional scale construction methods are not directly applicable. In this study, the characteristics of items are studied by observing individual's responses after presenting a video clip describing virtual services. The constructs of ubiquitous service are defined based on those of information system and previous studies of ubiquitous services. Items were generated to reflect the constructs. In the first study, we found six factors (me-centeredness, attractiveness, usability, trust, accessibility, ownership) in the ubiquitous service scale by using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Some items were dropped out that did not show good psychometric properties. In the second study, relationships among the constructs and satisfaction of the service was investigated by using structural equation models. An SEM analysis showed that these six constructs can predict the satisfaction about ubiquitous system, Practical implications and utility of this scale are discussed.

  • This study verified the motivation to use Tiktok for Chinese teenagers. This paper investigated the influence of adolescents'use motivation on use satisfaction and continuous use intention. In addition, this study was to grasp the relationship between use motivation and sustained use intention as a mediating effect of use satisfaction. The survey was conducted online and offline, 315 adolescents were selected for analysis. For the data, factor analysis, multiple regression analysis, and effect analysis of parameters were conducted using the SPSS 25 program. As a result of the study, information/entertainment pursuit, communication, and self-expression were derived as motivation for use. Among these motivations, information/enterprise pursuit and communication were found to have a significant effect on use satisfaction and continued use intention. In addition, it was confirmed that use satisfaction has a mediating effect on intention to use continuously. But it is found that the self-expression factor handled as reuse intention have no significant influence on the use satisfaction and continuous use intention of Tiktok.

  • This study analyzed characteristics which emerged while 38 secondary school teachers observed a video clip about a centroid of triangles instruction. The aim of this study based on the analysis was to deduce implications in terms of the various means which would enhance teachers' knowledge in teaching mathematics and assist in designing mathematics education programs for teachers and professional development initiatives. To achieve this goal, this research firstly reviewed previous studies relevant to the 'Knowledge Quartet' as a framework of analyzing teachers' knowledge in mathematics instructions. Secondly, this study probed the observation results from the teachers in the light of the KQ. Therefore, some issues in the teacher education program for teaching mathematics were thirdly identified in the categories of 'Foundation', 'Transformation', 'Connection', and 'Contingency' based on the analysis. This research inspires the elaboration of what features have with regard to effective teachers' knowledge in teaching mathematics through the analyzing process and additionally the elucidation of essential matters related to mathematics education on the basis of the analyzed results.
