In this paper, we propose a real time video codec adapter for enabling video communications with terminals having a codec which is different from each other. When multimedia services are playing with an office service phone such as a video phone or software phone which has video capability, each terminal is not being considered to have optimized video or voice codec. So when a video phone with only one type of video codec is used in the video streaming service which requires another type of codec, the streaming service is not successful without codec transformation. The real time codec adapter in this paper provides a real time code transformation which enables communication services such as video conferencing between terminals which have different codec.

In the current Internet, it is difficult for an Internet Phone to guarantee the QoS due to variable network conditions such as packet loss rate, delay and bandwidth. In addition, the QoS of an Internet Video Phone is more hard to guarantee because of video data. In this paper, we investigate application-level QoS control schemes that can adapt to variable network conditions, and describe an error control scheme and a congestion control scheme. Based on these QoS control schemes, we have designed and implemented an Internet Video Phone System that supports adaptive audio and video delivery. Through experiments, we found that the Internet Video Phone can reduce the packet loss rate considerably as well as adjust the transmission rate considering other TCP flows.

The purpose of this study is to find out the preference and the opinion of feminine seniors on the life support appliances(video phone, medication dispenser, activity monitor and sleep monitor). The appliances may be improved reflecting the result of the preferred functions and designs. The respondents were 141 feminine seniors of 65 years & older, living in Ulsan city or Cheongju city, Korea. Following is the result. 1) All the responses answered that the medication dispenser, video phone and activity monitor, sleep monitor are useful appliances. 2) All the seniors expressed prefer to function of the appliances, and were highly concerned about the price, safety and convenience. 3)The preferred designs were (1) white or red standing medication dispenser,(2) wall-mounted video phone working by voice, (3) metal activity monitor sensor like white or yellow bracelet.

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of core basic nursing education using cellular phone video recordings on self-confidence in performance, achievement, and practice satisfaction. Methods: The research design was a nonequivalent control group modified and non-synchronized design. The participants were assigned to either the experimental (n=60) or control group (n=67). During one semester, the experimental group received training for 10 selected core basic nursing skills using cellular phone video recording. The control group, also for one semester, received training with traditional practices. Self-confidence in performance and practice satisfaction were measured using a questionnaire, and achievement was evaluated by professors at the conclusion of the semester. Collected data were analyzed using t-test and Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: Self-confidence in performance increased significantly after training in the experimental group (t=7.94, p<.001). The experimental group showed significantly higher self-confidence in performance (t=2.39, p=.018) and achievement (t=2.40, p=.018) compared to the control group. However, the difference in practice satisfaction was not statistically significant. Conclusion: The results indicate that cellular phone video recording is effective in improving self-confidence in performance and achievement of core basic nursing skills.

With the popularization of the mobile phone with a built-in camera, there are a lot of effort to provide useful information to users by detecting and recognizing the text in the video which is captured by the camera in mobile phone, and there is a need to detect the text regions in such mobile phone video. In this paper, we propose a method to detect the text regions in the mobile phone video. We employ morphological operation as a preprocessing and obtain binarized image using modified k-means clustering. After that, candidate text regions are obtained by applying connected component analysis and general text characteristic analysis. In addition, we increase the precision of the text detection by examining the frequency of the candidate regions. Experimental results show that the proposed method detects the text regions in the mobile phone video with high precision and recall.

The video phone tube (VPT) of monochrome CRT have utilized home door phone, fish-finder and the rear watch monitors. Phosphor screen formation is made by electrodeposition spin coating and thermal transfer methods etc. Recently, thermal transfer method was developed, as a novel method, to form the phosphor surface for mnonchrom VPT. This method have advantages of simple process, automatization, clean environment, saving raw material and saving running-cost. In this study, it was developed new phosphor of VPT, and tested about phosphor paste properties. An experimental studies of VPT as a new phosphor property and improved VPT's manufacturing process shortening and brightness. As thermal transper method is a paste processing, it is important that rheology of phosphor effects on the formation of phosphor screen. Hence this paper was studied rheology properties of phosphor paste and the formation of phosphor screen had looked most suitable condition. Experimented thermal separation properties of low calcination temperature resin and the result analyzed comparison by TGA. Also, examined calcination properties to reduce remaining binder phosphor.

Nowadays, smart phone is being popularly used for communication, entertainment, and information retrieval. While demands on video traffic over mobile networks increases sharply, the wireless link capacity is often limited to fully support the traffic demand. Therefore, the size of video data needs to be reduced to provide high quality video with limited capacity. To handle this issue, we propose a video editing system using the ffmpeg library. The proposed system can provide a high quality video with a relatively small data size, thereby facilitating the mobile streaming services and live-video games.

The purpose of this study is to find out the preference and the needs of old womens on the life support appliances i.e. medication dispenser, video phone, activity monitor and sleep monitor. The appliances may be improved reflecting the result of the questionnaire asking about the preferred functions and designs. The respondents were 141 female seniors of 65 years and older, living in Ulsan city or Cheongju city, Korea. Following is the list of results. (1) The medication dispenser, responded as highly preferred, met some worries over the troubles by power stoppage especially while one is out, letting her forget the medication time. (2) The video phone was worried over the cases of hearing failure by small sound, and watching failure by weakening sight. (3) The activity monitor, like the medication dispenser, was worried about the troubles while one is out or out of the monitoring scope, its expense, and the privacy, (4) The sleep monitor met the worries over the inadequacy for the sleeping mat on the floor and the emission of electromagnetic waves. (5) The preferred designs were (1) white or red standing medication dispenser, (2) wall-mounted video phone working by voice, (3) metal activity monitor sensor with white or yellow bracelet.

This paper proposes a quality measurement model for video phone service over IP environment. Proposed model enhances conventional E-Model by using quality analysis and this model is suitable for ubiquitous environment. This research measures video phone quality by applying bust packet loss and recency effect. It uses delay and recency effect for compensating actual quality and recognized quality of user using NR and UR factor. Simulation results show that this model can provide more precise results than conventional model by considering recency effect of video phone service quality measurement model.
