역전파를 이용한 개집합 도메인 적응 (Open Set Video Domain Adaptation by Backpropagation)

  • 기존의 video domain adaptation은 closed set 환경에서 주로 연구되었다. 하지만 이는 source와 target의 label이 같다는 비현실적인 전제를 요구한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 target의 label space가 source보다 넓은 open set video domain adaptation 문제를 다룬다. 우린 open set image domain adaptation에서 사용되는 방법들을 video로 확장 시켜 모델을 설계하고 UCF to HMDB, HMDB to UCF 와 같은 video dataset에서 실험하였다. 그 결과 source only 대비 UCF to HMDB에서 12%, HMDB to UCF 7.1% 향상된 결과를 얻었다.

  • Over the past three years, even amidst viral threats, a notable shift towards online interactions has been observed. This trend persists the presence of significant viral concerns. Our study centered on female office workers in their twenties and thirties in Korea, seeking to comprehend how they enhance and present their external image in the digital era. We explored the use of digital devices and fashion choices that enable them to amplify their self-expression in video conferences. Using a mix of surveys and in-depth interviews, we employed snowball sampling to recruit twelve participants. These women were given the opportunity to shape their digital persona either to uphold their current image or to adapt it for interactions where they weren't face-to-face. Their desired images fell into three distinct categories: an authoritative professional image, a clean modern image, and a natural image. Depending on the context, the participants aimed to convey these images independently or in various combinations. Our findings suggest the need to develop strategies for acknowledging and projecting individual fashion identities in non-face-to-face interactions. Such strategies would empower individuals to better align their online personas with their desired self-image, whether it's professional, modern, clean, natural, or a combination thereof.

2-차원 MMFF 모델을 이용한 2-계층 부호화 영상 트래픽의 모델링 및 성능 분석 (2-D MMFF Model and Performance Analysis of 2-layer coded Video Traffic Sources)

  • In this paper, a model for two-layered video traffic is proposed. The performance analysis of the proposed model and the effects of two-layer coding scehemes in ATM networks are also studied. ATM-based networks give the possibility to support image codingat variable bit rate(VBR). Two layer coding is one of the very promising methods among many proposed methods to compensate the cell loss, the major drawback in ATM networks. From the experimental data of the 2-layer coded video traffics, it is observed that traffic patterns of base layer and enhanced layer are highly correlate to each other, when constant image quality is kept. With this observation, coded two layered video traffic can be modeled as 2-dimensional Markov chain. The model well fit the real experimental data. The model was used for the analysis of the performance of statistical multiplexer with priorites in ATM networks.

  • Video data is usually stored in a compressed format in order to reduce the storage space. For efficient browsing, searching, and retrieval of compressed video sequences, size-reduced images (or DC images which are formed with block DC coefficients) are generally preferred to avoid unnecessary computational complexity. In this paper, we propose a DC image extraction scheme appropriate for scene analysis and efficient browsing of compressed video sequences. The proposed algorithm utilizes predicted low frequency AC coefficients to achieve better approximation and to reduce the error drift. Due to the AC prediction based on a quadratic surface model, the proposed scheme requires no additional memory compared with the previous zero-order or first-order approximation scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves better subjective and objective quality with minor additional operations.

블럭 기반으로 압축된 동영상을 위한 블럭화 현상 제거 기법 (A deblocking filer for block-based compressed video sequences)

  • Conventional block-based video coders induce annoying blocking artifacts in very low bitarte coding. We propose a delocking filter which is appropriate for real time operation in a conventional video decoder. The proposed algorithm uses on dimensional filtering across block boundaries horizontally and vertiaclly with two separate filtering modes. The mode decision is quite simple but is fully based on the characteristics of human visual system and video sequences. In flat regions, a strong smoothing filter is appliced; and in the other regions, a moew sophisticated smoothing filter, which is based on the frequency information around block boundaries, is used to reduce blocking artifacts without introuducing undesired blur. Eeven though the proposed deblocking filter is quite simple, simulation results show that it improves both subjective and objective image quality for various image features.

Key Frame Assignment for Compr essed Video Based on DC Image Activity

  • In this paper, we propose a new and fast method for assigning the number of key frames to each shot. At first we segment the entire video sequence into elementary content unit called shots and then the key frame allocation is performed by calculating the accumulated value of AF(activity function). The proposed algorithm is based on the amount of content variation using DC images extracted from compressed video. By assigning the number of key frames to the shot that has the largest value of content function, one key frame is assigned at a time until you run out of given all key frames. The main advantage of our proposed method is that we do not need to use time-exhaustive computations in allocating the key frames over the shot and can perform it fully automatically.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a new row signal modulation method in order to display multi-gray image using super-twisted nematic liquid crystal display (STN-LCD), which has no complex computation, high selection ratio, and low driving voltage. By the proposed method, we have implemented a 320*240, 8-gray video-rate STN-LCD. For achieving a video-rate STN-LCD, 6 lines are selected at a time. Each row line is selected 8 times by equally distributed pulses throughout one frame. As a result, we can get 8 gray, video-rate image. The repetive horizontal pattern and the filckering was analyzed and the improvements have been presented.

  • 움직임 보상을 고려한 3차원 웨이블릿 변환은 공간적, 시간적인 상관관계에 중복된 정보를 효과적으로 제거한다. 그러나 웨이블릿 방식으로 압축된 영상이라 하더라도 압축률이 높은 경우 고주파 서브밴드의 변환계수가 상당수 손실되어 압축복원 시에 링 현상과 같은 왜곡이 생긴다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 3차원 웨이블릿의 압축왜곡을 줄이기 위하여 적응적 반복 복원 기법을 사용하는 새로운 알고리듬을 제안하였다. 제안된 적응적 기법에서는 에지의 방향에 따라 서로 다른 고역통과필터를 정칙화 복원에 사용하였다.

  • This paper describes a new semi-automatic segmentation algorithm based on color information. Semi-automatic segmentation mainly consists of intra-frame segmentation and inter-frame segmentation. While intra-frame segmentation extracts video objects of interest from boundary information provided by the user and intensity information of the image, inter-frame segmentation partitions the image into the video objects and background by tracking the motion of video objects. For inter-frame segmentation, color information (Y, Cb and Cr) of the current frame can be used efficiently in order to find the exact boundary of the video objects. In this paper we propose a new region growing algorithm which can maximize the ability of region differentiation, while preserving features of each color component.

  • In this paper, a new autofocusing technique which is resistive to noise generated by the CCD of video cameras is proposed. In the proposed scheme, the frequency selective weighted median (FSWM) filter is utilized to estimate the degree of focus and the fast hill-climbing search (HCS) strategy is exploited to determine the best focused image. Since the FSWM filter can not only extract high frequency components from the image, but also eliminate impulsive noise, the proposed autofocusing method employing the FSWM criterion function can estimate the degree of focus precisely. Furthermore, the proposed real-time HCS algorithm enables the video camera to continuously focus on dynamic images. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed technique outperforms existing techniques by enhancing the accuracy of the focus value of the video camera without the influence of noise.
