Shortcut Shot Detection Based on Compressed Video Bitstream

  • The shortcut shot detection based on MPEG compressed video bitstream is presented in this paper. The detection algorithm is used the video picture frame from MPEG compressed video directly not to be decompressed the original image. For shortcut detection, I and P frame of MPEG video bitstream are classified. The changing scene cuts at I pictures are detected by the decompressed DC image and scene cuts at P picture frame by monitoring the percentage of intra-macroblocks per P picture are detected. Experimental results using test video bitstream QVGA results in average 92% detection rate, searching time is taken around 4.5 times faster in comparison with changing scene shot detection algorithm which is decompressed the compressed bitstream.

  • Multimedia searching is an important activity on the Web, especially among the younger generation. The purpose of this study aims to examine college students’ multimedia information needs and searching on the Internet. While there is a clear pattern among students with respect to their multimedia uses, searching sources, relevance criteria and searching barriers, some differences exist especially according to searching of different multimedia types such as image, audio and video. For multimedia uses, information/data-focused uses are frequently found in image and video, while the use of audio is mainly for object-focused searches. As multimedia searching sources, audio and video files present a similar pattern of being high in media specific searching sources and low in generic search engines. Browsing through related blogs and homepages is an important part of searching for media files accounting for approximately 20% of total search for each media. The relevance criteria used by study participants when search for image files was primarily concerned with topicality while the contextual and media quality in the audio and video types are also considered important. Searching barriers for audio and video files are categorized into three broad aspects, including access and search quality, preview limitations and collection limitations, while obstacles for image files searching include access difficulties and low qualities of various collection.

Effective Scene Change Detection Method for MuIUmedia Bata as Video Images using Mean Squared Error (평균오차를 이용한 멀티미디어 동영상 데이터를 위한 효율적인 장면전환 검출)

  • When retrieving voluminous capacity of video image data, it is necessary to provide synopsized frame lists of video image data for indexing and replaying at the exact point where the user want to retrieve. We apply Mean Squared Error method to extract certain pixel value from diagonal direction of a frame. The RGB value of a pixel extracted from each frame is saved in a matrix form, and this frame is retrievedas a scene change point if the compared value of two points met the certain condition. Also implement the algorithm and provide a way to seize entire structure of video image and the point of scene changes. finally, we analyze and prove that our method has better performance compared with the others.

  • In this study, in order to improve visualization and enhance the ability of the surgeon to perform delicate endoscopic surgery, three dimensional endoscopic system is designed. These 3D systems have our features of stereoendoscopic image processing: real time image capture and retrieve; presentation of left and right image on a single monitor; separable processing of the left and right eye images; coding of the 3D endoscopic video. For 3D endoscopic video coding, three approaches are presented based on interlaced picture structure, side-field format structure, and simulcast technique. Experimental results and performances comparisons are presented and analyzed or these approaches. Digital video coding techniques are presented or 3D endoscopic video sequences by means of an MPEG-2 video coding.

  • Many people have already mentioned the works of the Video Art. This is the age, video image is not a particular thing. We should not follow easily those things having been studied by a lot of people again. However, nowadays after he passed away, they voice their opinions that we should reanalyze his works properly. Therefore, it may be not new to make video image a subject of discussion. However, this study intends to look into the works of Paik Nam June once again from a new aspect that no preceding researchers did not pay much attention. It will be the main theme of this study to try to discover the expansion of nature and educational effects through technology by analyzing his works from another aspect as one person who lives in the age that video image is no more special.

Fast Generation of 3-D Video Holograms using a Look-up Table and Temporal Redundancy of 3-D Video Image (룩업테이블과 3차원 동영상의 시간적 중복성을 이용한 3차원 비디오 홀로그램의 고속 생성)

  • In this paper, a new method for efficient computation of CGH patterns for 3-D video images is proposed by combined use of temporal redundancy and look-up table techniques. In the conventional N-LT method, fringe patterns for other object points on that image plane can be obtained by simply shifting these pre-calculated PFP (Principle Fringe Patterns). But there have been many practical limitations in real-time generation of 3-D video holograms because the computation time required for the generation of 3-D video holograms must be massively increased compared to that of the static holograms. On the other hand, as ordinary 3-D moving pictures have numerous similarities between video frames, called by temporal redundancy, and this redundancy is used to compress the video image. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed the efficient hologram generation method using the temporal redundancy of 3-D video image and N-LT method. To confirm the feasibility of the proposed method, some experiments with test 3-D videos are carried out, and the results are comparatively discussed with the conventional methods in terms of the number of object points and computation time.

Detection of View Reversal in a Stereo Video

  • This paper proposes a detection algorithm for view reversal in a stereoscopic video using a disparity map and motion vector field. We obtain the disparity map of a stereo image was obtained using a specific stereo matching algorithm and classify the image into the foreground and background. Next, the motion vector field of the image on a block basis was produced using a full search algorithm. Finally, the stereo image was considered to be reversed when the foreground moved toward the background and the covered region was in the foreground. The proposed algorithm achieved a good detection rate when the background was covered sufficiently by its moving foreground.

  • Visual organs play an important role in human information recognition processes. If they are expressed in a way of digital information, it makes much bigger amount of visual information among any other information. For that reason, MPEG-2 has been taken use of to represent information compressing technology in multi-media. Although the imported data would basically contain noises, when original video images are encoded into MPET-2. Accordingly, we propose soft- $\alpha$ filter to improve image quality of digital image received from the actual image and to reduce noises from them. We also propose a method combining vertical/horizontal filter and soft- $\alpha$ filter on MPEG-2 video image. We can get two kinds of effects from the advantages of this kind of combination. Firstly, it will reduce processing time ducting horizontal and vetical filtering process. It will cover time for soft- $\alpha$ filter. Secondly, it will simplify the colors in horizontal and vertical filter. Therefore we can get clearer quality without noises from soft- $\alpha$ filter.

  • An embedded system has been applied to many fields including households and industrial sites. The embedded system is implemented fur image tracking in security area. This system supports a fixed IP far the reliable server operation on TCP/IP networks. A real time video image on the is analyzed to detect a certain invader who jumped into the observed area. The digital camera is connected at the USB host port of the target board. The video images from the video camera is continuously analyzed and displayed at the Linux web-server. The moving vector of the invaders on the continuous image frames is calculated and then it sends the calculated pan/tilt movement. That used Block matching algorithm and edge detection algorithm for past speed. And the displacement vector is used at pan/tilt motor control through RS232 serial cable. The experiment result showed tracking performance by the moving part speed of 10 to 150 pixels/sec.

3D View Synthesis with Feature-Based Warping

  • Three-dimensional video (3DV), as the new generation of video format standard, can provide the viewers with a vivid screen sense and a realistic stereo impression. Meanwhile the view synthesis has become an important issue for 3DV application. Differently from the conventional methods based on depth, in this paper we propose a new view synthesis algorithm, which can employ the correlation among views and warp in the image domain only. There are mainly two contributions. One is the incorporation of sobel edge points into feature extraction and matching, which can obtain a better stable homography and then a visual comfortable synthesis view compared to SIFT points only. The other is a novel image blending method proposed to obtain a better synthesis image. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can improve the synthesis quality both in subjectivity and objectivity.
