Video data occurred in multimedia documents consist of a large scale of irregular data including audio-visual, spatial-temporal, and semantic information. In general, it is difficult to grasp the exact meaning of such a video information because video data apparently consist of unmeaningful symbols and numerics. In order to relieve these difficulties, it is necessary to develop an integrated manager for complex structures of video data and provide users of video digital libraries with easy, systematic access mechanisms to video informations. This paper proposes a generic integrated video information model(GIVIM) based on an extended Dublin Core metadata system to effectively store and retrieve video documents in digital libraries. The GIVIM is an integrated mo이 of a video metadata model(VMN) and a video architecture information model(VAIM). We also present design and implementation results of a video document management system(VDMS) based on the GIVIM.
The compression of video for both full HD and UHD requires the inclusion of extra vertical lines to every video frame, named as the DTV essential hidden area (DEHA), for the effective functioning of the MPEG-2/4/H encoder, stream, and decoder. However, while the encoding/decoding process is dependent on the DEHA, the DEHA is conventionally viewed as a redundancy in terms of channel utilization or storage efficiency. This paper proposes a block mode DEHA method to more effectively utilize the DEHA. Partitioning video block images and then evenly filling the representative DEHA macroblocks with the average DC coefficient of the active video macroblock can minimize the amount of DEHA data entering the compressed video stream. Theoretically, this process results in smaller DEHA data entering the video stream. Experimental testing of the proposed block mode DEHA method revealed a slight improvement in the quality of the active video. Outside of this technological improvement to video quality, the attractiveness of the proposed DEHA method is also heightened by the ease that it can be implemented with existing video encoders.

In this paper, a video broadcasting system between a home-server-type device and a mobile device is proposed. The home-server-type device can automatically extract semantic information from video contents, such as news, a soccer match, and a baseball game. The indexing results are utilized to convert the original video contents to a digested or arranged format. From the mobile device, a user can make recording requests to the home-server-type devices and can then watch and navigate recorded video contents in a digested form. The novelty of this study is the actual implementation of the proposed system by combining the actual IT environment that is available with indexing algorithms. The implementation of the system is demonstrated along with experimental results of the automatic video indexing algorithms. The overall performance of the developed system is compared with existing state-of-the-art personal video recording products.
Considering video copy transform diversity, a multi-feature video copy detection algorithm based on a Speeded-Up Robust Features (SURF) local descriptor is proposed in this paper. Video copy coarse detection is done by an ordinal measure (OM) algorithm after the video is preprocessed. If the matching result is greater than the specified threshold, the video copy fine detection is done based on a SURF descriptor and a box filter is used to extract integral video. In order to improve video copy detection speed, the Hessian matrix trace of the SURF descriptor is used to pre-match, and dimension reduction is done to the traditional SURF feature vector for video matching. Our experimental results indicate that video copy detection precision and recall are greatly improved compared with traditional algorithms, and that our proposed multiple features algorithm has good robustness and discrimination accuracy, as it demonstrated that video detection speed was also improved.

To manipulate large video databases, effective video indexing and retrieval are required. A large number of video indexing and retrieval algorithms have been presented for frame-w]so user query or video content query whereas a relatively few video sequence matching algorithms have been proposed for video sequence query. In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm to extract key frames using color histograms and to match the video sequences using edge features. To effectively match video sequences with low computational load, we make use of the key frames extracted by the cumulative measure and the distance between key frames, and compare two sets of key frames using the modified Hausdorff distance. Experimental results with several real sequences show that the proposed video retrieval algorithm using color and edge features yields the higher accuracy and performance than conventional methods such as histogram difference, Euclidean metric, Battachaya distance, and directed divergence methods.

The various video recording device, like car black box and cctv, are used currently and video contents are used as evidence of traffic accidents and scenes of crime. To verify integrity of video content, there are various study on manipulated video content analysis. Among these studies, a study based on analysis of video file structure and its variables needs a tool which can be used to analyze file structure and extract interested attributes. In this paper, we proposed design and implementation of an analyzing tool which visualizes video file structure and its attributes. The proposed tool use a model which reflects commonality of various video container format, so it is available to analyze video structure with regardless of the video file types. And the tool specifies interested file structure properties in XML and therefore we can change target properties easily without modification of the tool.
Video captioning refers to the process of extracting features from a video and generating video captions using the extracted features. This paper introduces a deep neural network model and its learning method for effective video captioning. In this study, visual features as well as semantic features, which effectively express the video, are also used. The visual features of the video are extracted using convolutional neural networks, such as C3D and ResNet, while the semantic features are extracted using a semantic feature extraction network proposed in this paper. Further, an attention-based caption generation network is proposed for effective generation of video captions using the extracted features. The performance and effectiveness of the proposed model is verified through various experiments using two large-scale video benchmarks such as the Microsoft Video Description (MSVD) and the Microsoft Research Video-To-Text (MSR-VTT).
Abstract A lot of research has been done on modeling video databases, but all of them can be considered as the static video data model from the viewpoint that all video data on those models are always presented according to the predefined sequences if there is no user interaction. For some video database applications which provides with up-to-date video information services such as news-on-demand, video-on-demand, digital library, internet shopping, etc., video editing is requested frequently, preferably in real time. To do this, the contents of the existing video data should be changed or new video data should be created, but on the traditional video data models such video editing works should be done manually. In order to save trouble in video editing work, this paper proposes the dynamic video object data model named DVID based on object oriented data model. DVID allows not only the static video object but also the dynamic video object whose contents are dynamically determined from video databases in real time even without user interaction.
In recent crime scene, there is the captured crime scene video at least one. So video files recorded on storage media often provide important evidence. Criminals often attempt to destroy storage saved crime scene video. For this reason recovery of a damaged or deleted video file is important to resolve criminal cases in aspects of digital forensic. In the recent, there is a study to recover video file based on video frames, but it is very poor time efficiency when the connecting video frames. This paper proposed advanced frame-based recovery technique of a damaged video files using time information. We suggest a new connecting algorithm to connect video frames using recorded time information in front of video frame. We also evaluate performance in aspects of time and experiment result shows that proposed method improves performance.

The purpose of this second one of the two consecutive papers, which carried out for the research, is to evaluate their relative effectiveness regarding instruction with such three presentation methods as video/print+ lecture, print/video, print+lecture/video, with which the library of Duk Sung Women's University applied already for the orientation of the freshmen in 1988. In sum, the major research findings are as follows : First, as the more numerous media were applied for the orientation, the instruction were more effective. Second, it is very interesting to find out that there were wide differences in effectiveness among the three presentation methods applied for the student. Especially, the print+ lecture/video method was more effective in the instruction than the print/video method. Surprisingly, the video/print + lecture method was much more effective than the print+ lecture/video method. With the research findings of this two consecutive papers into consideration, it seems safe to say that the video-tape method was most effective among such three orienting methods as lecture, slide-tape, and video tape, and the video/print+lecture method was most effective among such three presentation methods as video/print+lecture, print/video, and print+lecture/video.
