액체-고체 접촉대전을 위한 PET 기판 기반 ODA/PDMS 딥 코팅 제조 및 평가 (Synthesis and Evaluation of Superhydrophobic ODA/PDMS Dip Coating on PET for Liquid-Solid Contact Electrification)

  • As opposed to using fossil fuels, we need to use eco-friendly resources such as sunlight, raindrops and wind to produce electricity and combat environmental pollution. A triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is a device that converts mechanical energy into electricity by inducing repetitive contact and separation of two dissimilar materials. During the contact and separation processes, electron flow occurs owing to a change in electric potential of the contacting surface caused by contact electrification and electrostatic induction mechanisms. A solid-solid contact TENG is widely known, but it is possible to generate electricity via liquid-solid contact. Therefore, by designing a hydrophobic TENG, we can gather electricity from raindrop energy in a feasible manner. To fabricate the superhydrophobic surface of TENGs, we employ a dip coating technique to synthesize an octadecylamine (ODA)- and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-based coating on polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The synthesized coating exhibits superhydrophobicity with a contact angle greater than 150° and generates a current of 2.2 ㎂/L while water droplets fall onto it continuously. Hence, we prepare a box-type TENG, with the ODA/PDMS coating deposited on the inside, and place a 1.5 mL water droplet into it. Resultantly, we confirm that the induced vibration causes continuous impacts between the ODA/PDMS coating and the water, generating approximately 100 pA for each impact.

소듐냉각 고속로 연료봉단의 접촉부 손상예측을 위한 가속시험 방법 (Acceleration Test Method for Failure Prediction of the End Cap Contact Region of Sodium Cooled Fast Reactor Fuel Rod)

  • 본 논문은 한국원자력연구원에서 개발 중인 소듐냉각 고속로 핵연료의 연료봉 하단 마개에 있는 관통구멍과 마운팅 레일의 원기둥 형상과의 접촉부에 발생하는 접촉 손상을 예측하기 위한 가속시험 방법을 연구한 것이다. 가속시험 조건으로서 연료봉의 유체유발진동수 및 진폭을 유한요소 해석을 통하여 구하였다. 약 35000 시간의 연료봉 수명기간을 고려한 가속시험 시간을 결정하기 위해 일반 기계부품류의 신뢰성 평가 방법을 적용하였으며, 이때 가장 보수적인 형상 모수와 원자로 내에서의 연료봉 파손허용 개수 기준 및 연료봉 피복관 재료인 HT-9강의 피로수명 데이터를 이용하였다. 시편의 개수를 5개로 하였을 때, 최종적으로 계산된 가속 시험시간은 각 시편 당 16.5시간이었다. 가속시험 후 전체 시편에 어떠한 접촉손상도 관찰되지 않을 때 연료봉의 수명기간 중 $B_{0.004}$ 수명이 신뢰수준 99%로 보장되는 것으로 평가하였다.

  • We report on a direct measurement of two-dimensional chemical and electrical distribution on the surface of photovoltaic Cu(In,Ga)$Se_2$ thin-films using a nano-scale spectroscopic and electrical characterization, respectively. The Raman measurement reveals non-uniformed surface phonon vibration which comes from different compositional distribution and defects in the nature of polycrystalline thin-films. On the other hand, potential analysis by scanning Kelvin probe force microscopy shows a higher surface potential or a small work function on grain boundaries of the thin-films than on the grain surfaces. This demonstrates the grain boundary is positively charged and local built-in potential exist on grain boundary, which improve electron-hole separation on grain boundary. Local electrical transport measurements with scanning probe microscopy on the thin-films indicates that as external bias is increases, local current is started to flow from grain boundary and saturated over 0.3 V external bias. This accounts for carrier behavior in the vicinity of grain boundary with regard to defect states. We suggest that electron-hole separation at the grain boundary as well as chemical and electrical distribution of polycrystalline Cu(In,Ga)$Se_2$ thin-films.

Improvement of Cooling Technology through Atmosphere Gas Management

  • The production of advanced high strength steels requires the improvement of cooling technology. The use of high cooling rates allows relatively low levels of expensive alloying additions to ensure sufficient hardenability. In classical annealing and hot-dip galvanizing lines a mixing station is used to provide atmosphere gas containing 3-5% hydrogen and 97-95% nitrogen in the various sections of the furnace, including the rapid cooling section. Heat exchange enhancement in this cooling section can be insured by the increased hydrogen concentration. Drever International developed a patented improvement of cooling technology based on the following features: pure hydrogen gas is injected only in the rapid cooling section whereas the different sections of the furnace are supplied with pure nitrogen gas; the control of flows through atmosphere gas management allows to get high hydrogen concentration in cooling section and low hydrogen content in the other furnace zones. This cooling technology development insures higher cooling rates without additional expensive hydrogen gas consumption and without the use of complex sealing equipments between zones. In addition reduction in electrical energy consumption is obtained. This atmosphere control development can be combined with geometrical design improvements in order to get optimised cooling technology providing high cooling rates as well as reduced strip vibration amplitudes. Extensive validation of theoretical research has been conducted on industrial lines. New lines as well as existing lines, with limited modifications, can be equipped with this new development. Up to now this technology has successfully been implemented on 6 existing and 7 new lines in Europe and Asia.

  • Pulsation is an inherent phenomenon in reciprocating compressors. It interacts with piping to cause vibrations and performance problems. Indiscriminately connecting to a compressor can be dangerous and cost money in the form of broken equipment and piping, poor performance, inaccurate metering, unwanted vibration, and sometimes noise. Piping connected to a compressor can materially affect the performance and response. To minimize these detrimental effects, reciprocating compressor system should be equipped by pulsation suppression system. This study discusses pressure pulsation phenomena occurred in a reciprocating compressor system. An experiment applied air compressor unit, as pulsating pressure generator, has been done. The compressor was connected sequentially to a snubber model and pressure tank. Sensor probes were placed on the inlet and outlet pipes of snubber. Compressor was driven by a motor controlled by a frequency regulator. The experiment was conducted by adjusting the regulator at 40Hz. General information about an internal gas flow can be achieved by numerical analysis approach. Information of the velocity, pressure and turbulence kinetic energy distribution are presented in this paper. Based on this result, the design improvement might be done.

풍동실험을 통한 착빙 가공송전선의 공력 특성 측정 및 갤러핑 발생 분석 (Aerodynamic Characteristics and Galloping Possibility of Ice Accreted Transmission Conductors by Wind Tunnel Tests)

  • 본 논문은 송전선로 갤러핑 현상 분석을 위해 요구되는 비대칭 송전선의 공기력 계수 측정에 관한 것으로, 세 종류의 비대칭 단면으로 구성된 단도체, 2도체 및 4도체 모형에 대해서 난류 조건에서의 풍동실험을 수행하였다. 송전선로 갤러핑은 비대칭의 착빙된 송전선에 안정된 바람이 작용하는 경우 발생하는 유체유발진동의 한 종류로, 상간 이격거리와 송전탑 하중의 계산 등 송전선의 설계시 고려해야하는 주요 인자 중 하나이다. 갤러핑에 의해 발생하는 반복적인 변동 하중은 송전선을 포함한 체결 부품 등에 큰 동응력을 발생시키는 것을 고려하여, 송전선을 비롯한 각종 부품은 마모와 피로손상에 견딜 수 있는 충분한 내구성을 가져야 한다. 국내에서도 빙설해에 의한 송전선로의 고장은 급격한 전압 강하로 인한 전기 품질에 큰 영향을 끼치는 주요 원인이 되고 있으며, 매년 약 20건 이상씩 발생하고 있는 점을 고려해, 안정적인 전력 공급과 유지, 보수 비용을 절감하기 위해서 갤러핑 현상에 대해서 기초부터 체계적인 접근이 요구되고 있다.

  • 인체에 고주파 에너지를 가하면 진동 폭이 매우 짧아서 직류 전류 이용 시 발생하는 전해질 화상이 일어나지 않으며 이온분자, 분극분자 등이 초당 4만 번 이상 진동을 하면서 마찰열로 전환되어 심부열을 발생시켜 모세혈관의 혈류량은 휴식 시 보다 4~5배 증가하여 산소, 영양물질, 항체, 백혈구 등 공급의 증가한다. 또한 진동 폭과 맥동기간이 매우 짧아 전기 화학적 반응이 일어나지 않으며 감각신경과 운동신경을 자극하지 않는 물리적 인자치료 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 고주파통증치료기를 사용하여 젊은 정상 성인을 대상으로 등장성운동을 시키고, 등장성 운동 시 근전도 데이터를 측정하여 운동신경 응답의 변화에 미치는 영향을 확인하여 재활치료 접목시키고자 하였다. 윗팔두갈래근의 등장성 운동을 실시할 때 발생되는 근전도 데이터와 운동 후 고주파통증치료기사용 후 측정된 근전도 데이터를 각각 RMS하여 t-검정을 통하여 검증을 실시하였으며, 남녀 모두 t값, p값이 유의수준(<.05) 보다 작게 나와 유의한 차이가 있다는 것을 확인하였다.

연마재 투입형 워터젯 시스템의 공정 변수에 따른 연마재 투입량 변화 (Variation of abrasive feed rate with abrasive injection waterjet system process parameters)

  • 터널굴착의 효율성 증진 및 굴착시 발생하는 진동 저감을 위해 연마재 투입형 워터젯 시스템을 이용한 새로운 형태의 암반 굴착 방식이 개발되어 적용 중에 있다. 연마재 투입형 워터젯 시스템을 이용한 암반 굴착 방식에 있어서, 적절한 양의 연마재를 투입하는 것은 절삭 성능뿐만 아니라 전체 공정의 경제성 향상을 위해서도 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는, 다양한 공정 변수들 중 터널 굴착용 워터젯 시스템에서 특히 중요한 공정 변수들인 기하학적 변수(연마재 탱크(또는 호퍼) 높이, 연마재 투입관의 구배, 연마재 투입관의 길이, 연마재 투입관의 굴곡도), 연마재 변수(연마재 입자 크기), 젯 에너지 변수(수압, 유량)이 연마재 투입량 및 연마재가 믹싱 챔버 내로 흡입될 때 발생하는 흡입 압력에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위하여 다양한 조건에서 실험을 수행하고 그 결과를 분석하였다. 또한, 실험적 연구를 통하여 연마재 투입량이 절삭 성능에 미치는 영향을 논의하였다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 주요 공정 변수들을 조절하여 적절한 연마재 투입량을 유지하면 터널 굴착용 워터젯의 절삭 성능을 극대화할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Air abrasive technique을 이용한 복합레진 수복 증례 (TREATMENT OF COMPOSITE RESIN RESTORATION WITH THE AIR ABRASIVE TECHNIQUE)

  • The air abrasive technique is a non-mechanical method by which teeth are treated before restoration and stains and calculi are removed from tooth surfaces using the kinetic energy of small particles. The air abrasive technique in dentistry was first introduced in the 1950's with as instrument called 'Airdent'. But, as the main restorative materials of the period were amalgam and gold, and the instrument's inability to control the flow of particles caused the particles to be spread throughout the clinics, widespread use was not possible. In the 1990's, as these techincal problems were solved and more interest in new restorative materials rose in an effort to preserve sound tooth structure, new developements took place in instruments related to the air abrasive technique. The air abrasive technique produces less pressure, vibration and heat that might cause patient discomfort and facilitates the preservation of sound tooth structure. It also reduces the need for anesthesia and is less harmful to the pulp. Other advantages include increase in dentin bonding strength of composite resin, lower possibility of saliva contamination and maintenance of a dry field. But there is not direct contact between the nozzle and the tooth, the operator cannot use his or her tactile sense and must rely solely upon visual input. Other disadvantages are: the tooth preparation depends on the operator's ability; alpha-alumina particles, after bouncing off the tooth surface, cause damage to dental mirrors; the equipment is expensive and takes up a certain amount of space in the clinic. The author conducted case report using the air abrasive technique on patient visiting the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Seoul National University Dental Hospital and arrived at the following conclusions. 1. The tooth preparation capability of different air abrasive devices varied widely among manufacturers. 2. It was more effective in treating early caries lesions and stains compared to lesions where caries had already progressed to produce soft dentin. 3. The cold stream and noise caused by the evacuation system was a major cause of discomfort to pediatric patients. 4. As there is no direct contact with tooth surface when using the air abrasive technique for tooth preparation, considerable experience and skill is required for proper tooth preparation.

Sensory Information Processing

  • The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70$\pm$1.32mmHg/min)compared to CF dialyzers(4.32$\pm$0.55mmHg/min)(p<0.05). However, there was no observable difference in the UFR between the two dialyzers. Neither APD nor UFR showed any significant increase with an increasing number of reuses for up to more than 20reuses. A substantial number of failures observed in APD(larger than 20mmHe/min)on the reused dialyzers(2 out of 40 CP and S out 26 C-DAK) were attributed to the Possible damage on the fibers. The CF 15-11 HFDs which failed APD test did not show changes in the UFR compared to normal dialyzers indicating that APD is a more sensitive test than UFR test to evaluate the integrity of the fibers. 30527 T00401030527 ^x For quantitative measurement of reflected light from a clinical diagnostic strip, a prototype old reflectance photometer was designed. The strip loader and cassette were made to obtain more accurate reflectance parameters. The strip was illuminated at 45˚c through optical fiber and the intensity of reflected light was determined at rectanguLat angle using a photodiode. The kubelka-munk coefficient and reflection optical density were determined ar four different wavelengths(500, 550, 570 and 610nm) for blood glucose strip. For higher concentration than 300mg/41 about glucose, a saturation state of abforbance was observed at 500, 550 and 570nm. The mice were divided into two groups. One group was injected with Photofrin II, intravenously (2.5mg/kg body weight). The other group received no Photofrin II. Mice from both groups were irradialed for approximately 15 minutes at 100, 300, or 500 mW/cm2 with the argon (488nm/514.5 nm), dye(628nm) and gold vapor (pulsed 628 nm) laser light. A photosensitizer behaved as an added absorber. Under our experimental conditions, the presence of Photolfrin II increased surface temperature by at least 40% and the temperature rise due to 300 mW/cm2 irradiation exceeded values for hyperthermia. Light and temperature distributions with depth were estimated by a computer model. The model demonstrated the influence of wavelength on the thermal process and proved to be a valuable tool to investigate internal temperature rise. 30536 T00401030536 ^x We investigated the structural geometry of thirty-eight Korean femurs. The purpose of this study is to identify major geometrical differences between Korean femurs 3nd others that we believe belong to Caucasians so that we would be able to get insights into the femoral component design that fits Asians including Koreans. We utilized computerized tomography (CT) images of femurs extracted from cadavers. The CT images were transformed into bitmap data by using a film scanner, and then analyzed by using a commercially available software called Image v.1.0 and a Macintosh IIci computer.The resulting data were compared with already published data. The major results show that the geometry of the Korean femurs is significantly different from that of Caucasians: (1) the anteversion angle and the canal flare index are greater by the amount of approximately 8˚ and 0.5, respectively, (2) the shape of the isthmus cross section is more round, and (3) the distance between the teaser trochanter and the proximal border of the isthmus is shelter by about 15 mm. The results suggested that the femoral component suitable for Asians should be different from the currently-used components designed and manufactured mostly by European or American companies. 30537 T00401030537 ^x It is well known that nonlinear propagation characteristics of the wave in the tissue may give very useful information for the medical diagnoisis. In this paper, a new method to detect nonlinear propagation characteristics of the internal vibration in the tissue for the low frequency mechanical vibration by using bispectral analysis is proposed. In the method, low frequency vibration of f0( = 100Hz) is applied on the surface of the object, and the waveform of the internal vibration x (t) is measured from Doppler frequency modulation of silmultaneously transmitted probing ultrasonic waves. Then, the bispectra of the signal x (t) at the frequencies (f0, f0) and (f0, 2f0) are calculated to estimate the nonlinear propagation characteristics as their magnitude ratio, w here since bispectrum is free from the gaussian additive noise we can get the value with high S/N. Basic experimental system is constructed by using 3.0 MHz probing ultrasonic waves and the several experiments are carried out for some phantoms. To synthesize microspheres for biomedical application, "two stage shot growth method" was developed. The uniformity ratio of synthesized microspheres was always smaller than 1.05. And the surface charge density (or the number of ionizable functional groups) of the microspheres synthesized by "two stage shot growth method" was 6~13 times higher than that of the microspheres synthesized by conventional seeded batch copolymerization. As a previous step for biomedical application, adsorption experiments of bovine albumin on microspheres were carried out under various conditions. The maximum adsorbed amount was obtained in the neighborhood of pH 4.5. Isoelectric point of bovine albumin is pH 5.0, so experimental result shows that it shifted to acid area. The system based on PC-486DX was designed to acquire medical images produced by medical imaging instruments and related audio information, that is, doctors' reporting results. Input information was processed and analyzed, then the results were presented in the form of graph and animation. Our department has developed an information system for routine hematology using down-sized computer system. We have used an IBM 486 compatible PC with 16MB main memory, 210 MB hard disk drive, 9 RS-232C port and 24 pin dot printer. The operating system and database management system were SCO UNIX and SCO foxbase, respectively. For program development, we used Xbase language provided by SCO foxbase. The C language was used for interface purpose. To make the system use friendly, pull-down menu was used. The system connected to our hospital information system via application program interface (API), so the information related to patient and request details is automatically transmitted to our computer.
