USN based Context-Aware Vessel Monitoring System for A Group of Ships (군집선박을 위한 선박 USN을 이용한 상황인식 모니터링 시스템)

  • In this paper, we implements the USN based context-aware vessel system for a group of ships which receives the specific sensor data that is the result of context-aware after collecting from each of the among a group of ships. The received date is shared and managed by monitoring system. If this monitoring system have trouble the sensor from any ship, the it's control was transferred from the main monitoring ship to the any ship and the second main ship collect the data then recognize the context-aware. Also, this system have the advantage of that reduce the load due to the sensor node communication because just collect the optional sensor data.

  • The fuel charge is getting higher in navigation cost. Therefore, shipowners try to find the method for reducing oil consumption. ESS(Energy Saving System) is one of he method. ESS is the system consisted with two inverters, ESS control unit and monitoring system. Two inverters control two main sea water cooling pumps. In the ESS control Unit, the control algorithm finds optimized point to decrease a power consumption of main sea water cooling pumps. Monitoring system observes ESS not to work improperly. ESS is experimented in the laboratory with real condition and analyzed in every view. After experiment, the result of the experiment shows that the control algorithm works correctly and safely. ESS has a plan to be operated in the ship soon. In that case, additional devices are needed to connect ESS with cooling system of the vessel. So the development of addition device is needed and being studied.

  • The alarm monitoring technology applied to existing operating ships manages data items such as temperature and pressure with AMS (Alarm Monitoring System) and provides an alarm to the crew should these sensing data exceed the normal level range. In addition, the maintenance of existing ships follows the Planned Maintenance System (PMS). whereby the sensing data measured from the equipment is monitored and if it surpasses the set range, maintenance is performed through an alarm, or the corresponding part is replaced in advance after being used for a certain period of time regardless of whether the target device has a malfunction or not. To secure the reliability and operational safety of ship engine operation, it is necessary to enable advanced diagnosis and prediction based on real-time condition monitoring data. To do so, comprehensive measurement of actual ship data, creation of a database, and implementation of a condition diagnosis monitoring system for condition-based predictive maintenance of auxiliary equipment and piping must take place. Furthermore, the system should enable management of auxiliary equipment and piping status information based on a responsive web, and be optimized for screen and resolution so that it can be accessed and used by various mobile devices such as smartphones as well as for viewing on a PC on board. This update cost is low, and the management method is easy. In this paper, we propose CBM (Condition Based Management) technology, for autonomous ships. This core technology is used to identify abnormal phenomena through state diagnosis and monitoring of pumps and purifiers among ship auxiliary equipment, and seawater and steam pipes among pipes. It is intended to provide performance diagnosis and failure prediction of ship auxiliary equipment and piping for convergence analysis, and to support preventive maintenance decision-making.

Marine meteorological monitoring system, information about these marine weather environments in real time around the coast by collecting a provides real time shipping and marine transportation safety is a system for. .. Long marine facilities marine observation sensors cover the routes developed by installing marine meteorological monitoring system, build management, and vessel safety is giving much help to navigate. The further development of the marine meteorological monitoring system analyzes the situation both at home and abroad, in order to study the safety of the vessel in navigable and marine accidents because the prevention and optimal marine meteorological monitoring system regarding the future development plan for discussion.

  • In this paper, I describe a system for remote monitoring of devices Android-based sensor data recorded during the operation of the ballast water treatment system. The proposed remote monitoring system is Designed and implemented when a problem occurs in the ballast water treatment system installed in the vessel, provide information if you are unable to determine the cause in the field or engineer dispatch request of external. System developed is composed of a server holding the sensor data information collected from the vessel and a mobile device that is not bound to time and place. The transmission of sensor data between mobile devices and server, and is implemented by TCP/IP to transmit information securely. System is composed of request to the server from the mobile device after the user inputs the input values, to transmit the sensor data. The device provides the information of the sensor with a high level of importance to the user. Through the remote monitoring sensor information of the ballast water treatment system, the system is made to predict the failure of the sensor.

  • This study is on the development of an engine monitoring system which can be applied not only for mid-size vessels but also small vessels less than 20 gross tonnage. Monitoring system consists of a set LMU(Local Monitoring Unit) that collect data from local machinery, a host computer that controls LMU and a stable communication system which adopts CSMA/CD protocol. The LMU is composed of 80C196KC microprocessor, which consists of CPU, digital input/output, analog input/output and communication module. Communication system between the host computer(compatible IBM PC) and LMUs is the multidrop configuration using RS-485 method and confirmed high performance communication by the aid of polling method as well as carrier sense multiple access with collision detection(CSMA/CD) protocol.

  • 선박의 위치추적시스템(VMS: Vessel Monitoring System)은 선박의 안전항해를 확보하기 위한 수단으로 다양한 통신망을 사용하여 구성을 확대해나가고 있다. VMS를 위한 통신망으로는 현재 Inmarsat 및 Orbcomm 등 위성통신망과 AIS(Automatic Identification System of ships: 선박자동식별장치)의 VHF(Very High Frequency: 초단파) 통신망 등이 사용되고 있다. 최근에는 5톤 이상의 어선에도 VHF 무선설비의 설치를 단계적으로 강제화하였으며, 소형선박에도 AIS의 탑재를 강제화할 계획을 검토하고 있음에 따라 이에 따른 효율적인 통신망 구축 방안을 사전에 검토할 필요성이 대두되었다. 여기에서는 선박의 안전항해를 확보하고 효율적인 VMS를 구축할 수 있는 VMS 통신망 구축 방안에 대하여 연구 제시하였다.

  • On lot of ships, Ballast Water Treatment Systems(BWTS) are in use, or the newly built ship should be mandatory installation by 2017. It is IMO(International Maritime Organization) regulations. Because the vessel is in long distance, It is managed this system only in the vessel and it may occur considerable cost of maintenance when a problem arises from BWTS. We describe in this paper how to monitor treated ballast water to make sure the ballast water and BWTS on a ship is in proper condition, but before the port entrance. In addition, analysing and forecasting trend signal to prevent failure. Also we can expect reduce the cost of BWTS maintenance. We can monitor the sensor data value's change which collected through satellite from BWTS. And we can observate the ballasting and de-ballasting state of the vessel easily.

  • On this paper, the methods of optimization research of the fishing navigation using the graph theory are substantiated on the basis of the proposed probable model of the fishing vessel navigator's activity. The graph theory is concered about the transitionform the top graph to the rib one. And the definition of the additional system elements (quasi elements) necessary to provide the effectiveness during the fishing navigation are also substantiated herein. This approach helps to optimize the structure of any fishing vessel monitoring system.

  • The importance of the air and vessel traffic control center is increasing rapidly after the recent accident of 'Sewol ferry'. Aviation, marine, and the logistics sectors are already using monitoring and control technology widely. However, the monitoring and control system for complex and dangerous construction sites operation has yet to be employed. A monitoring/control system is required for effective communication between the control center and the construction equipment fleet at a construction site, and also the exact role that notifies accurate process and identification of hazards on construction sites as needed. Therefore, this paper presents the study about communication between the construction equipment fleet and the control center through the comparison of air traffic, marine, and logistics control systems for the development of construction equipment fleet management system.
