  • The electro-optical (EO) performances of a multidomain vertical-alignment (MVA) cell on a homeotropic photopolymer have been investigated. In the absence of an electric field, the MVA cell achieved black state as LC alignment is homeotropic. An electric field created by interdigitated electrodes and rib made after photolithograph using the photopolymer on both substrates causes a director deformation of a multidomain type. Good voltage-transmittance curves for a MVA cell on the homeotropic photopolymer were observed. Also, the stable response time of MVA cell on the homeotropic photopolymer can be achieved.

  • This case study refers to resonance with vertical pumps. Vibration problem occurring after the inverter was installed for speed control. Its problem was appeared any revolution under rated speed. Vibration data was acquired during normal operation and transient state. We examined FRF on its resonance in field and also analyzed a result by finite element method. There was carried out the retrofit in field which was based on these results for solving problem.

  • In this study, we have fabricated a three branches vertical Hall sensor for detecting three phases rotation informations of miniaturized brushless motor. The sensor gives three position signals phase shifted by $120^{\circ}$, corresponding to the motor driving signals. The branch has one Hall output and one input each other. The central part acts as common driving input. Sensor has branch width of $150{\mu}m$ and distance from central electrode to Hall electrode of $100{\mu}m$. The sensitivity of sensor is 250 V/$A{\cdot}T$ at magnetic field of 0.1 T. It has also showed three sine waves of Hall voltages with $120^{\circ}$ phase over a $360^{\circ}$ rotation. A packaged sensing part are $2{\times}2mm^{2}$ and has been successfully tested on a motor rotation at a speed up to 60,000 rpm.

  • As digital mobile technology has advanced, vertical videos have emerged as a prominent format in the contemporary media field, presenting a new visual language that challenges traditional horizontal-centric aesthetic norms. This study delves into the visual and structural parallels and distinctions between traditional East Asian Hanging scrolls and contemporary vertical videos by applying traditional spatial composition techniques such as the 'Three Distances', 'One River, Two Banks', 'Intended Blank', and 'Unity of Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting' to the creation of modern vertical videos. Through this comparative analysis, the research examines how vertical layouts enhance depth and layering of the screen, deepen emotional expression, and offer creators new avenues for expression. By juxtaposing the spatial compositions of traditional East Asian Hanging scrolls with those prevalent in today's digital vertical videos, this study seeks to uncover new visual languages and aesthetic values within the evolving media field.

  • An investigation of the effects of transverse magnetic field on melt convection and macrosegregation in vertical Bridgman growth of Te doped InSb was carried out by means of microstructure observation, the measurement of Te distribution by Hall measurement, electrical resistivity measurement and X-ray analysis. Prior to the experiments, interface stability, convective instability and suppression of convection by magnetic field were examined. A thermosolutal convection in the Te doped InSb melt occurred in the examined growth condition without magnetic field. The effective distribution coefficient, $K_{eff}$, was about 0.35 without magnetic field, 0.45 with magnetic field of 2kG, and 0.7 at 4kG. It was found that the stronger the applied magnetic field was, the more the convection was suppressed.

  • A Hybrid Wall System(HWS) building, Kolon Bundang Tripolis was instrumented to measure the vertical deformation of core-walls and columns. The vertical shortening of individual members were measured at selected floor levels such as 1F, 12F, 25F, and 34F. The measurement has been taken during one year after the construction was started. Together with the measurement, concrete property tests were performed in the laboratory using the concrete obtained in the field. The measured vertical shortenings were compared with the calculated prediction values and the satisfactory agreement was obtained.

  • The grade is a very significant factor in designing the bikeways. It affects the cyclist's maneuverability as well as route selection. The objective of this paper is to provide the vertical length by grade for bikeway. Field experiments were conducted by primary school children and university students to collect and analyze bike's climbing capability by grade. Combined data suggests that the desirable vertical length is 360m for 3% grade, 220m for 4%, 160m for 5%, 120m for 6% and 90m for 7% grade.

  • Various amplitudes and frequencies of axle loads are applied to the domestic conventional line. Vertical stresses and settlements on the subgrade may be changed depending on the variation of axle loads. This paper introduces the research results to estimate vertical stresses and settlements on the subgrade with numerical analysis(Distinct Element Method), full scale test, and field test.

  • We have fabricated vertical-type organic transistors (static induction transistors; SITs) with built-in nano-triode arrays formed in parallel by a colloidal-lithography technique. Using this technique, we could fabricate a microstructure in a lateral direction within a large-scale organic device without relying on photolithography. The organic transistor showed low operating voltages, high current output, and large transconductance.

  • Vertical fence has the coherent flow structure in front of the fence. In the present study, the wake change due to the flow separator in front of the vertical fence was experimentally investigated. Quantitative method was applied to study the separated shear flow field. The results show the flow separator changes the downstream shear flow and alters the curvature of separated shear layer As the freestream velocity increased, the reattachment length also increased.
