To ensure that fire induced collapse of a building is prevented it is important to understand the sequence of events that can lead to this event. In this paper, the initiation of collapse mechanisms of generic a multi-storey steel frame subjected to vertical and horizontal travelling fires are analysed computationally by tracking the formation of plastic hinges in the frame and generation of fire induced loads. Both uniform and travelling fires are considered. In total 58 different cases are analysed using finite element software LS-DYNA. For the frame examined with a simple and generic structural arrangement and higher applied fire protection to the columns, the results indicate that collapse mechanisms for singe floor and multiple floor fires can be each split into two main groups. For single floor fires (taking place in the upper floors of the frame (Group S1)), collapse is initiated by the pull-in of external columns when heated beams in end bays go into catenary action. For single floor fires occurring on the lower floors(Group S2), failure is initiated (i.e. ultimate strain of the material is exceeded) after the local beam collapse. Failure in both groups for single floor fires is governed by the generation of high loads due to restrained thermal expansion and the loss of material strength. For multiple floor fires with a low number of fire floors (1 to 3) - Group M1, failure is dominated by the loss of material strength and collapse is mainly initiated by the pull-in of external columns. For the cases with a larger number of fire floors (5 to 10) - Group M2, failure is dominated by thermal expansion and collapse is mainly initiated by swaying of the frame to the side of fire origin. The results show that for the investigated frame initiation of collapse mechanisms are affected by the fire type, the number of fire floors, and the location of the fire floor. The findings of this study could be of use to designers of buildings when developing fire protection strategies for steel framed buildings where the potential for a multifloor fire exists.
Steam jet condensation is of great importance to pressure suppression containment and automatic depressurization system in nuclear power plant. In this paper, the condensation processes of sonic steam jet in a quiescent subcooled pool are recorded and analyzed, more precise understanding are got in direct contact condensation. Experiments are conducted at atmospheric pressure, and the steam is injected into the subcooled water pool through a vertical nozzle with the inner diameter of 10 mm, water temperature in the range of $25-60^{\circ}C$ and mass velocity in the range of $320-1080kg/m^2s$. Richardson number is calculated based on the conservation of momentum for single water jet and its values are in the range of 0.16-2.67. There is no thermal stratification observed in the water pool. Four condensation regimes are observed, including condensation oscillation, contraction, expansion-contraction and double expansion-contraction shapes. A condensation regime map is present based on steam mass velocity and water temperature. The dimensionless steam plume length increase with the increase of steam mass velocity and water temperature, and its values are in the range of 1.4-9.0. Condensation heat transfer coefficient decreases with the increase of steam mass velocity and water temperature, and its values are in the range of $1.44-3.65MW/m^2^{\circ}C$. New more accurate semi-empirical correlations for prediction of the dimensionless steam plume length and condensation heat transfer coefficient are proposed respectively. The discrepancy of predicted plume length is within ${\pm}10%$ for present experimental results and ${\pm}25%$ for previous researchers. The discrepancy of predicted condensation heat transfer coefficient is with ${\pm}12%$.

The most commonly used method for space management in the industry is development of site plans. These plans outline how to manage material deliveries, staging areas, and crane locations for construction sites in suburban area but not in congested urban areas. This study focuses on how to efficiently manage space for construction facilities on high-rise buildings in congested urban areas where normally space for facilities around a building footprint is not available. The limitations of available horizontal space create a need to explore vertical expansion of facilities. This raises new aspects of vertical facility handling and flow that need to be considered in the facility design problem. The construction facilities layout plan method provides layout planners with a valuable technique to develop efficient sequences of work that optimally defines how to efficiently utilize the construction facilities and minimize the travel of specific facilities effort on multiple-floor buildings. A genetic algorithm-based heuristic will be presented for generating block layouts for multiple-floor la)rout problems.
This study was designed to analyze the three-dimensional shapes of Hanbok Chima made with various fabrics and to clarify the relationship between fabric properties as well as the objective and subjective evaluations of the 3D shape. For 3D shape data, a dress form (9A2 (N; nude)) was scanned with eight Chima garments made with the same number of fabrics. The scanner used was a non-contact three-dimensional human body measuring system belonging to Bunka Women's University in Japan. Data concerning the objective evaluation of the 3D shape was obtained from the measurements of the vertical and horizontal sections: those for subjective evaluation were through the sensory test after exposure to photographs from a front and side view. Four fabric factors were extracted from fabric physical properties: softness, extension, thickness of threads, and weight of fabric. Such factors as expansion (volume), sag of rear train, shape of nodes were influential in explaining the 3D shape of Hanbok Chima. From the analysis of the 3D shape, it can be deduced that with the constituent fabric stiffer, lighter, and less stretchable, the more expanded the 3D shape appeared to be. Multiple regression results showed that vertical shape factors have a greater effect on the evaluation of the 3D shape. It also implies that dependent variables of this study such as the subjective evaluation and 3D shape can be derived from regression equations on independent variables as fabric property factors or 3D shape factors. These results can enable the manufacturers to predict the 3D shape of the garment as well as the human subjective assessment to improve the efficacy of production. The investigation method proposed in this study can also be applicable to other garment items.

The solution for wind drift current in a three-layered open sea region is derived using the Galerkin-Eigenfunction mothod. The presence of discontinuities in the vertical eddy viscosity required a definition of a scalar product which involves the summation of integrals defined over each layer. The expansion of fourth-order B-spline functions is used in determining eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions. In a three-layered system a low value of eddy viscosity is prescribed within the pycnocline to represent the suppression of turburent intensity at the thermocline level. A high concentration of knots within the pycnocline is important in determining eigenfunctions and the associated eigenvalues accurately. Due to the global property of eigenfunctions nonphysical oscillations appear in the current profiles below the surface layer, particularly within the pycnocline.
Variation of temperature is a primary environmental factor that affects the behavior of structures. Therefore, understanding the mechanisms of normal temperature-induced variations of structural behavior would help in distinguishing them from anomalies. In this study, we used the structural health monitoring data of the Shanghai Yangtze River Bridge, a steel girder cable-stayed bridge, to investigate the mechanisms of thermally induced vertical deflection ($D_T$) at mid-span of such bridges. The $D_T$ results from a multisource combination of thermal expansion effects of the cable temperature ($T_{Cab}$), girder temperature ($T_{Gir}$), girder differential temperature ($T_{Dif}$), and tower temperature ($T_{Tow}$). It could be approximated by multiple linear superpositions under operational conditions. The sensitivities of $D_T$ of the Shanghai Yangtze River Bridge to the above temperatures were in the following order: $T_{Cab}$ > $T_{Gir}$ > $T_{Tow}$ > $T_{Dif}$. However, the direction of the effect of $T_{Cab}$ was observed to be opposite to that of the other three temperatures, and the magnitudes of the effects of $T_{Cab}$ and $T_{Gir}$ were found to be almost one order greater than those of $T_{Dif}$ and $T_{Tow}$. The mechanisms of the thermally induced vertical deflection variation at mid-span of a cable-stayed bridge as well as the analytical methodology adopted in this study could be applicable for other long-span cable-stayed bridges.
Propose: The expansion of the delivery market in franchise business is a positive means of advertising and promotion for franchisees and contributes to substantial sales growth for stores. However, unrestricted and uncontrolled delivery sales and business activity of franchisee directly lead to encroachment of business territory between franchisees, resulting in increased operating costs of franchisees and conflicts between franchisees over rights and interests on franchise business. Moreover, in relation to the restrictions on the opening of competitors, it is incapacitating the law intent of prohibiting unfair encroachment of business territory, in the issue of the Fair Franchise Act in regard to guarantee of exclusive sales and business activity rights of franchisee. This study aims to point out major problems arising out of franchisee's infinite competition on delivery sales and business activity that are not restricted or controlled and then suggest legal supplements, policy tasks, and practical implications for improvement on the issues. Literature Review: In franchising business transactions, vertical restraints are associated with the exclusive territory establishment, control of transaction area, restriction of intangible sales and business activity of franchisee. Therefore, in the franchise business, it is necessary to take positive interpretation and application on e-commerce, the area of e-commerce, and delivery trading area and find proper and practical ways, by virtue of constructive attitude of each actor, to reduce the encroachment of business territory and various conflicts caused by unrestricted delivery trading area. Conclusion and suggestion: The finding shows that unrestricted or uncontrolled delivery sales and business activity of franchisees cause encroachment of business territory and many conflicts among franchisees. And this matters also weaken the legislation of the law on the protection of the business territory and can be negative factors that disrupt the protection of identity and sound development of the franchise industry in the long run. Therefore, in the franchise business, it is necessary to take positive interpretation and application on e-commerce, the area of e-commerce, and delivery trading area and find proper and practical ways, by virtue of constructive attitude of each actor, to reduce the encroachment of business territory and various conflicts caused by unrestricted delivery trading area.

The appearance and variation of cold water area and its expansion mechanism of tidal front in the south western coast of Korea in summer were studied on the basis of oceanographic data(1966-1995), satellite images from NOAA and SeaWiFs and numerical model. Cold water appearance in southwestern field of Jindo was due to the vertical mixing by strong tidal current. Tidal front where horizontal gradient of water temperature was more than $0.3^{\circ}C$/km parallels to contours of H/$U^3$ parameter 2.0~2.5 and the outer boundary of cold water region corresponds with contours of the parameter 2.5~3.0 in the southwestern sea of Korea during the period between neap and spring tides. The position replacement of tidal front formed in the study ares varies in a range of 25~75km and cold water region extends about 90km. These suggest that the magnitude of variation of frontal position and cold water area was proportionate to the tidal current during lunar tidal cycle. Moreover, it was estimated that the southwestward expansion of cold water region was derived from the southwestward tide-induced residual currents with speed more than 10cm/s.

The increasing number of vehicles owned by individuals in association with the rising income resulted in an acute shortage of parking spaces. We are not only seeing a serious traffic congestion arising from the vehicles parked in the streets adjacent to apartment buildings, but also the social issues of not being able to properly prepare for the emergency such as breakout of fires. Although remodeling of old apartment buildings are being discussed in measures to these problems, the research of parking space expansion is still insufficient. In a survey on remodeling of old apartment buildings, over 30 percent of those who answered cited the parking space as the most needed improvement and said they preferred direct entry as a way to expand parking space among lateral underground expansion methods. The direct entry is a method in which one directly enters the apartment house from the parking lot through the elevator and it requires extended operation of elevators. However, because there are no established systematic processes for elevator extension and works of such kinds are not common, elevator extension works are being done in an inefficient manner. In this research we reanalyzed the processes in order to present the items to be examined for more efficient elevator extension works, and through interviews of experts in the field, we produced the examination items by process from the perspectives of management and technology. This research will be used as a reference material for elevator extension works associated with expanding underground parking lot of apartment buildings.
A precise understanding of the human form in static pose serves as the basis of designing clothing. When the human body is in motion, however, even an article of clothing designed to fit the human form in static pose can pull and change, thus restricting the body. In order to increase the fit of the clothing, which may be termed the second skin, its form and measurements therefore must be determined in correlation not only with the formal characteristics of the human body, in static pose but also with its functional characteristics in motion, as caused by the movements of the human body. In this study, the motion factor was selected as the primary basis for designing slacks with good fit in both static and moving states. By indentifying the areas in which lower limb movement cause significant changes in body surface lines, we suggest several application methods for designing slacks. Using unmarried female university students aged 18 - 24 as subjects, a total of 32 body surface categories (15 body surface lines and 17 body surface segment lines) were measured in one static and 9 movement poses. In particular, expansion and contraction levels and rates were measured and used in the analysis. The analysis first involved the calculation of the average measurement per body part in body surface line in static pose as well as of the average expansion and contraction levels and rates in 9 lower limb movements. Two-way MANOVA and multiple comparison analysis (Tukey) were conducted on movements and individual somatotypes regarding measurement per body part and expansion and contraction rates. Body parts whose measurements of body surface lines differed significantly in body surface line in static pose versus in movement were then identified. The results of this study are as follows. First, changes in body surface lines caused by lower limb movements were significant in all body surface lines of the lower trunk, both horizontal and vertical, with the exception of abdomen girth, midway thigh girth, ankle girth, hip length, and posterior knee girth. Second, significantly expanded 10 body surface lines in moving pose were detected and illustrated in table 4. These body parts should be studied in designing or pattern designing, especially for close-fitting pants, in using stretch fabric, and in sensory evaluation of good fit during movement.
