The purpose of this study was to evaluate the kinematic characteristics of 5th hurdle clearance during the 100m hurdle final competition at the 2010 Colorful DaeGu pre-championship meeting. This study was also intended to provide the technical data for better performance for preparing the 2011 world championship. Lee and Jung need to change technical movement by reducing the distance of the take-off point from the hurdle and by decreasing the vertical velocity of the C.G.(center of gravity) at the takeoff. Powell's angle of the take-off leg showed bigger at the touchdown and smaller at the takeoff comparing to Lee's and Jung's. Furthermore, Powell's horizontal velocity of the C.G. was maintained at the takeoff and touchdown. So, Lee and Jung need to change angle of the take-off leg the same as Powell's. Both Lee and Jung need to increase the angle of landing leg at the touchdown. In addition to increasing the angle Jung needs to improve the knee and ankle velocity with the hurdling leg.

The application area based on UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is continuously increasing as time passing by. In particular the UAVs which consist of more than four horizontal propellers and the functionality of VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) are utilized in diverse platforms and the application products due to their safety and aerodynamically simpler design and architectures. The most UAV missions are controlled by GCSs (Ground Control System). The GCSs are generally connected to the internet and get electrical map and environmental information such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction and so on. In this paper, we design a system for UAV system to have capability of approaching to a certain ship and monitoring her efficiently by using AIS (Auto Identification System) information. Furthermore we verify that adapting AIS on GCS side is more efficient through experiments.
Tail wing is important to designing of civil aircrafts, because it is responsible for aircraft stability and control. Tail wing has a role in aircraft control and makes aircraft fly stably without any pilot control input. Also, designing of tail wing determine trim drag force in whole aircraft. Center of gravity(CG) of aircraft travels with various effects as placement of passenger's seats, location of cargo bay, etc. In designing horizontal tail volume, aircraft CG travel has to be considered to have margin so that it should be sized to provide adequate stability and control for the airplane's entire CG range throughout the flight envelope. Finally, it is essential to have sufficient elevator control to perform stall at forward CG for all flaps down configurations. Such stalls establish the FAR stall speed which airplane take-off and landing performance. This paper deals with the process for tail wing design regarding the aircraft CG travel and results for 95-seat type turboprop aircraft.
The purpose of this study was to investigating the effect of taping knee by testing the difference on kinetic variables of lower extremity when speed skating athletes jump on one leg. The results were as follows. The height of jumping after taping was higher, but the vertical height was not different according to taping. On take-off(TO), the horizontal and anterior-posterior maximum impulse force were decreased while the vertical maximum impact force was increased after taping. On landing(LD), the anterior-posterior maximum impulse force was decreased but the horizontal and vertical maximum impulse force were increased. TO, the impulse showed low after taping and the impulse dropped largely LD. The knee's moment of extension, eversion were reduced after tapping TO. LD, the flection moment of knee was decreased, but the inversion moment was increased after tapping. This study implies that the knee tapping helps injury prevention and performance enhancement, sports medicine convergence are needed.
Recently, the concept of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) has expanded to Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). A tilt rotor type of vertical take-off and landing aircraft has been actively studied and developed. A tilt-rotor aircraft can perform a transition flight between vertical and horizontal flights. A blade pitch angle control system can be used for flight stability during transition flight time. In addition, Individual Blade Control (IBC) can reduce noise and vibration generated in transition flight. This paper proposed Disturbance Observer Based Control (DOBC) and Time Delay Control (TDC) for individual blade control of an Electro-Mechanical Actuator (EMA) based blade pitch angle control system. To compare and analyze proposed controllers, numerical simulations were conducted with DOBC and TDC.

This paper presents an optimal path planning strategy for aerial searching and surveying of a user-designated area using multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The method is designed to deal with a single unseparated polygonal area, regardless of polygonal convexity. By defining the search area into a set of grids, the algorithm enables UAVs to completely search without leaving unsearched space. The presented strategy consists of two main algorithmic steps: cellular decomposition and path planning stages. The cellular decomposition method divides the area to designate a conflict-free subsearch-space to an individual UAV, while accounting the assigned flight velocity, take-off and landing positions. Then, the path planning strategy forms paths based on every point located in end of each grid row. The first waypoint is chosen as the closest point from the vehicle-starting position, and it recursively updates the nearest endpoint set to generate the shortest path. The path planning policy produces four path candidates by alternating the starting point (left or right edge), and the travel direction (vertical or horizontal). The optimal-selection policy is enforced to maximize the search efficiency, which is time dependent; the policy imposes the total path-length and turning number criteria per candidate. The results demonstrate that the proposed cellular decomposition method improves the search-time efficiency. In addition, the candidate selection enhances the algorithmic efficacy toward further mission time-duration reduction. The method shows robustness against both convex and non-convex shaped search area.

The Power Augmented Ram(PAR) effect, which blows the down stream of the propellers into the underside of the wings and hence increases the pressure between the lower surface of the wings and the sea surface, is known significantly to enhance the performance of the WIG concept by reducing the take-off and landing speeds. The aerodynamic characteristics of a 20 passenger PARWIG are investigated by wind tunnel tests with the 1/20 scale model. The efflux of the forward mounted propellers are simulated by jet flows with a blower and duct system. The lift, drag, and pitch moment of the model with various ground clearances, angles of attack and flap angles are measured for the various jet velocities, jet nozzle angles, horizontal and vertical positions of the nozzle, and the nozzle diameters. The aerodynamic characteristics of the PARWIG due to these parametric changes are compared and pertinent discussions are included. It is shown that the proper use of the PAR can increase the lift coefficient of as much as up to 4.
The purpose of this study is to closely examine kinematic characteristics by jump phase of Li Xiaopeng motion in horse vaulting and provide the training data. In doing so, as a result of analyzing kinematic variables through 3-dimensional cinematographic using the high-speed video camera to Li Xiaopeng motion first performed at the men's vault competition at the 14th Busan Asian Games, the following conclusion was obtained. 1. It was indicated that at the post-flight, the increase of flight time and height and twisting rotational velocity has a decisive effect on the increase of twist displacement. And Li Xiaopeng motion showed longer flight time and higher flight height than Ropez motion with the same twist displacement of entire movement. Also the rotational displacement of the trunk at peak of COG was much short of $360^{\circ}$(one rotation) but twist displacement showed $606^{\circ}$. Likewise, Li Xiaopeng motion was indicated to concentrate on twist movement in the early flight. 2. It was indicated that at the landing, Li Xiaopeng motion gets the hip to move back, the trunk to stand up and the horizontal velocity of COG to slow down. This is thought to be the performance of sufficient landing, resulting from large security of rotational displacement of airborne and twist displacement. 3. It was indicated that at the board contact, Li Xiaopeng motion made a rapid rotation uprighting the trunk to recover slowing velocity caused by jumping with the horse in the back, and has already twisted the trunk nearly close to $40^{\circ}$ at board contact. Under the premise that elasticity is generated without the change of the feet contacting the board, it will give an aid to the rotation and twist of pre-flight. Thus, in the round-oH phase, the tap of waist according to the fraction and extension of hip joint and arm push is thought to be very important. 4. It was indicated that at the pre-flight, Li Xiaopeng motion showed bigger movement than the techniques of precedented studies rushing to the horse, and overcomes the concern of relatively low power of jump through the rapid rotation of the trunk. Li Xiaopeng motion secured much twist distance, increased rotational distance with the trunk bent forward, resulting in the effect of rushing to the horse. 5. At horse contact, Li Xiaopeng motion makes a short-time contact, and maintains horse take-off angle close to vertical, contributing to the increase of post-flight time and height. This is thought to be resulted from rapid move toward movement direction along with the rotational velocity of trunk rapidly earned prior to horse contact, and little shave of rotation axis according to twist motion because of effective twist in the same direction.
