  • Much amount of data which demand fuzzy information system requires various analysis through the fuzzy set visualization. Therefore, this study proposes how to visualize fuzzy data set using variation of Venn diagram. For the fuzzy data which are related to many topics and have ranking of relation, this way gives results that users want by visualizing intersection, union and complementary set. That is, it visualizes the set of fuzzy data which have many topics at once, or the set of all fuzzy data which has topics, or the set of fuzzy data not related to a topic. Users control these sets by overlapping or piling them; visualized with Venn diagram, which is user-oriented. One distinct advantage of this visualization is the fact that it delivers web documents which users of search engine and web developers want much quickly. Furthermore, its possibility can be expanded to several purposes by using for information retrieval.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore high school students' perception of the relationship among science, history, and history of science which is one of the career elective subjects in the 2015 revised science curriculum. This study compares students' perception before and after experiencing history of science course. To do this, data in the format of Venn diagram that students draw to represent their perception on relationship between the history of science, science, and history were collected. The collected data were inductively categorized. As a result of analyzing the Venn Diagram data, there are five different kinds of categories: 'History of science as an intersection of science and history,' 'History of science as an independent domain,' 'History of science as part of history,' 'History of science as part of science,' and 'History of science encompassing both science and history.' And there were 27 different sub-categories within the 5 categories. In addition, before taking the course on history of science, many students tended to regard science history as the intersection of science and history. However, after the course, students' perception changed and differed according to their affiliated academic track. For the humanities, history of science is perceived as part of history, and for the students in science track it is perceived as a part of science. Based on these findings, we suggest that history of science teaching-learning should be conducted that help high school students to experience a new perspective that is different from the curriculum in affiliated academic track.

  • Expressing complex query conditions in a concise and intuitive way has been a challenge in the design of visual object-oriented query languages. We propose a visual query language called VOQL (Visual Object oriented Query Language) for object oriented databases. By employing the visual notation of graph and Venn diagram, the database schema and the advanced features of object oriented queries such as multi-valued path expressions and quantifiers can be represented in a simple way. VOQL has such good features as simple and intuitive syntax, well-defined semantics, and excellent expressive power of object-oriented queries compared with previous visual object-oriented query languages.

  • Mathematical thinking can be symbolized by the external signs, and these signs determine in reverse the form of mathematical thinking. Each symbol - a symbol in algebra, a symbol in analysis, and a diagram which verifies syllogism - reflects the diverse characteristic of cogitation in mathematics and perfirms a heuristic function.

  • The objective of this study was to review application of next-generation sequencing (NGS) to investigate microbiome in the livestock sector. Since the 16S rRNA gene is used as a phylogenetic marker, unculturable members of microbiome in nature or managed environments have been investigated using the NGS technique based on 16S rRNA genes. However, few NGS studies have been conducted to investigate microbiome in the livestock sector. The 16S rRNA gene sequences obtained from NGS are classified to microbial taxa against the 16S rRNA gene reference database such as RDP, Greengenes and Silva databases. The sequences also are clustered into species-level OTUs at 97% sequence similarity. Microbiome similarity among treatment groups is visualized using principal coordinates analysis, while microbiome shared among treatment groups is visualized using a venn diagram. The use of the NGS technique will contribute to elucidating roles of microbiome in the livestock sector.

  • In recent years, the cyber attack has become a universal phenomenon, and the attacks in cyberspace are regarded as a kind of war, cyber-warfare. However, cyber-warfare is difficult to identify the damage caused by the attack. In order to effectively evaluate the damage to the attack that may occur in the cyber-warfare, this paper describes the damage evaluation simulation of the cyber-warfare based on DEVSim++, which can calculate the damage to the cyber attack using the MOCE (Measure of Cyber Effectiveness). Also, in order to help the commander in the cyber Command&Control phase, the number of victims by attack classification is expressed in the form of Venn diagram.

  • Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is the most common primary esophageal malignancy with poor prognosis. Here, due to the necessity for exploring potential therapies against ESCC, we obtained the gene expression data on ESCC from the TCGA and GEO databases. Venn diagram analysis was applied to identify common targets. The protein-protein interaction network was constructed by Cytoscape software, and the hub targets were extracted from the network via cytoHubba. The potential hub nodes as drug targets were found by pharmacophore-based virtual screening and molecular modeling, and the antitumor activity was evaluated through in vitro studies. A total of 364 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in ESCC were identified. Pathway enrichment analyses suggested that most DEGs were mainly involved in the cell cycle. Three hub targets were retrieved, including CENPF, CCNA2 (cyclin A), and CCNB1 (cyclin B1), which were highly expressed in esophageal cancer and associated with prognosis. Moreover, amentoflavone, a promising drug candidate found by pharmacophore-based virtual screening, showed antiproliferative and proapoptotic effects and induced G1 in esophageal squamous carcinoma cells. Taken together, our findings suggested that amentoflavone could be a potential cell cycle inhibitor targeting cyclin B1, and is therefore expected to serve as a great therapeutic agent for treating esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

  • The rockworm gut flora was identified at each growth stage to elucidate the composition of the bacterial community. The source material was Marphysa sanguinea fed regular feed and fed biofloc at the adult stage in parallel. The systematic bacterial community composition was determined based on the next-generation sequencing method, and alpha diversity and beta diversity were conducted to access the species diversity within and between the bacterial communities, respectively. The composition of the gut flora changed considerably as the rockworms developed. The shift in the gut flora was confirmed at the phylum, family, and genera level of the bacterial communities. The Vibrio species associated with high rockworm mortality occupied 7.7% of the gut flora at the larval stage; however, they disappeared in the healthy adult gut. Moreover, different gut flora was observed between adults fed regular feed and those fed biofloc. Specifically in the biofloc-fed adult gut, several immune relevant and water-purifying bacteria were detected. The biofloc-fed adult gut flora could decompose and mineralize organic sediment, and thus be effectively utilized for integrated multitrophic aquaculture. The Venn diagram revealed that only two bacterial species were shared throughout all growth stages, and the biofloc-fed adults exhibited the highest diversity within the bacterial community.

  • Smartphones are growing more susceptible as technology develops because they contain sensitive data that offers a severe security risk if it falls into the wrong hands. The Android OS includes permissions as a crucial component for safeguarding user privacy and confidentiality. On the other hand, mobile malware continues to struggle with permission misuse. Although permission-based detection is frequently utilized, the significant false alarm rates brought on by the permission-based issue are thought to make it inadequate. The present detection method has a high incidence of false alarms, which reduces its ability to identify permission-based attacks. By using permission features with intent, this research attempted to improve permission-based detection. However, it creates an excessive number of features and increases the likelihood of false alarms. In order to generate the optimal number of features created and boost the quality of features chosen, this research developed an intersection feature approach. Performance was assessed using metrics including accuracy, TPR, TNR, and FPR. The most important characteristics were chosen using the Correlation Feature Selection, and the malicious program was categorized using SVM and naive Bayes. The Intersection Feature Technique, according to the findings, reduces characteristics from 486 to 17, has a 97 percent accuracy rate, and produces 0.1 percent false alarms.
