Lift-Tilt 개념의 eVTOL 항공기 임무 분석 도구 개발 (Development of Mission Analysis Tool for eVTOL Aircrafts of Lift-Tilt Concept)

  • 항우연은 eVTOL 항공기의 개념설계 및 기본설계를 위한 설계프레임워크를 개발하고 있다. 오픈소스 SUAVE 패키지를 활용하여 틸트 프롭 및 리프트 프롭을 갖는 Lift-Tilt 개념의 전기수직이착륙기에 대한 저충실도 임무분석도구를 개발하였다. 그 개발을 위하여 SUAVE의 프롭성능해석 기능을 검토하였다. 매 임무 세그먼트에서 트림해를 자동적으로 찾기 위해 병렬처리 및 실험계획법을 통한 전역최적화 기법을 적용한 알고리듬을 구현하였다. 동 도구를 사용하여 1인승급 전기추진 수직이착륙 유무인 겸용 개인항공기(OPPAV)의 임무분석을 수행하고 동 항공기의 기본설계데이터와 비교하였다.

On Hybrid Re-Broadcasting Techniques in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

  • Vehicular Ad Hoc NETwork (VANET), a subclass of Mobile Ah Hoc NETwork (MANET) has been a tech-buzz for the last couple of decades. VANET, yet not deployed, promises the ease, comfort, and safety to both drivers and passengers once deployed. The by far most important factor in successful VANET application is the data dissemination scheme. Such data includes scheduled beacons that contain whereabouts information of vehicles. In this paper, we aim at regularly broadcasted beacons and devise an algorithm to disseminate the beacon information up to a maximum distance and alleviate the broadcast storm problem at the same time. According to the proposed scheme, a vehicle before re-broadcasting a beacon, takes into account the current vehicular density in its neighborhood. The re-broadcasters are chosen away from the source of the beacon and among the candidate re-broadcasters, if the density in the neighborhood is high, then the candidate rebroadcaster re-broadcasts the beacon with high probability and with low probability, otherwise. We also performed thorough simulations of our algorithms and the results are sound according to the expectations.

Lifting Fan의 위치가 복합형 UAM의 공력특성에 미치는 영향 (Analysis with Lifting Fan Position of Hybrid UAM Aerodynamic Characteristics)

  • Recently, the development of UAM, which was named by NASA as an alternative to solve the traffic and environmental problems caused by the rapidly progressing urbanization. When designing UAM, the location of lift fans greatly affects the core technology of the eVTOL type, distributed electric propulsion technology and aerodynamic performance of the vehicle. In this paper, a hybrid UAM model was designed using OpenVSP, an open source aircraft configuration modeling program, and aerodynamic analysis was performed according to the lift fans position change by the vortex lattice method. As a result, it is confirmed that the flight parameters and trailing wakes are stable by fixing the lift fan with the state rotated 0° to the flow direction of the aircraft during cruise flight. Also, OpenVSP is a suitable tool to be used in aircraft configuration modeling and design.

Pharmacological potential of Cordyceps militaris with enhanced Cordycepin production for anti-inflammatory and tumor cell anti-proliferative applications

  • Cordyceps militaris mycelium extracts containing high amounts of cordycepin were evaluated in vitro for their anti-inflammatory and tumor cell growth-inhibitory activities. All extracts dose dependently inhibited the increased production of inflammatory mediators including reactive oxygen species (ROS), nitric oxide (NO), and 𝛽-hexosaminidase in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated inflammatory cells. All extracts were evaluated for anti-proliferative activity against normal RBL-2H3 cells and diverse types of cancer cell lines, including HCT, MC5-7, U-87MG, AGS, and A549 cells. The extract showed the strongest growth inhibition (IC50 = 28.13 ㎍/mL) relative to vehicle-treated control cells against fibrosarcoma (MC5-7). We have demonstrated anti-inflammatory activity of C. militaris via inhibition of NO, ROS production, and 𝛽-hexosaminidase release in activated cells. C. militaris mycelium extract was also evaluated mechanistically and found to exert six types of anti-cancer activity, confirming its pharmacological potential. Our study suggests C. militaris use as a potential source of anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer agents. C. militaris may also be considered a functional food.

Backhaul transmission scheme for UAV based on improved Nash equilibrium strategy

  • As a new alternative communication scheme in 5G, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is used as a relay in the remote base station (BS) for assistant communication. In order to ameliorate the quality of the backhaul link, a UAV backhaul transmission scheme based on improved Nash equilibrium (NE) strategy is proposed. First, the capacity of air-to-ground (A2G) channel by the link preprocess is maximized. Then, the maximum utility function of each UAV is used as the basis of obtaining NE point according to the backhaul channel and the backhaul congestion. Finally, the improved NE strategy is applied in multiple iterations until maximum utility functions of all the UAVs are reached, and the UAVs which are rejected by air-to-air (A2A) link during the process would participate in the source recovery process to construct a multi-hop backhaul network. Simulation results show that average effective backhaul rate, minimum effective backhaul rate increases by 10%, 28.5% respectively in ideal A2G channel, and 11.8%, 42.3% respectively in fading channel, comparing to pure NE strategy. And the average number of iterations is decreased by 5%.

A PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT OF ANEL SCHEME THROUGH MESSAGE MAPPING AND ELLIPTIC CURVE CRYPTOGRAPHY

  • The vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is currently an important approach to improve personal safety and driving comfort. ANEL is a MAC-based authentication scheme that offers all the advantages of MAC-based authentication schemes and overcomes all their limitations at the same time. In addition, the given scheme, ANEL, can achieve the security objectives such as authentication, privacy preservation, non-repudiation, etc. In addition, our scheme provides effective bio-password login, system key update, bio-password update, and other security services. Additionally, in the proposed scheme, the Trusted Authority (TA) can disclose the source driver and vehicle of each malicious message. The heavy traffic congestion increases the number of messages transmitted, some of which need to be secretly transmitted between vehicles. Therefore, ANEL requires lightweight mechanisms to overcome security challenges. To ensure security in our ANEL scheme we can use cryptographic techniques such as elliptic curve technique, session key technique, shared key technique and message authentication code technique. This article proposes a new efficient and light authentication scheme (ANEL) which consists in the protection of texts transmitted between vehicles in order not to allow a third party to know the context of the information. A detail of the mapping from text passing to elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) to the inverse mapping operation is covered in detail. Endovascular embolization of persistent liver injuries not responding to conservative management: a narrative review

  • Trauma remains a significant healthcare burden, causing over five million yearly fatalities. Notably, the liver is a frequently injured solid organ in abdominal trauma, especially in patients under 40 years. It becomes even more critical given that uncontrolled hemorrhage linked to liver trauma can have mortality rates ranging from 10% to 50%. Liver injuries, mainly resulting from blunt trauma such as motor vehicle accidents, are traditionally classified using the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma grading scale. However, recent developments have introduced the World Society of Emergency Surgery classification, which considers the patient's physiological status. The diagnostic approach often involves multiphase computed tomography (CT). Still, newer methods like split-bolus single-pass CT and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) aim to reduce radiation exposure. Concerning management, nonoperative strategies have emerged as the gold standard, especially for hemodynamically stable patients. Incorporating angiography with embolization has also been beneficial, with success rates reported between 80% and 97%. However, it is essential to identify the specific source of bleeding for effective embolization. Given the severity of liver trauma and its potential complications, innovations in diagnostic and therapeutic approaches have been pivotal. While CT remains a primary diagnostic tool, methods like CEUS offer safer alternatives. Moreover, nonoperative management, especially when combined with angiography and embolization, has demonstrated notable success. Still, the healthcare community must remain vigilant to complications and continuously seek improvements in trauma care.

Broadband energy harvester for varied tram vibration frequency using 2-DOF mass-spring-damper system

  • Energy harvesting in trams may become a prevalent source of passive energy generation due to the high density of vibrational energy, and this may help power structural health monitoring systems for the trams. This paper presents a broadband vibrational energy harvesting device design that utilizes a varied frequency from a tram vehicle using a 2 DOF vibrational system combined with electromagnetic energy conversion. This paper will demonstrate stepwise optimization processes to determine mechanical parameters for frequency tuning to adjust to the trams' operational conditions, and electromagnetic parameters for the whole system design to maximize power output. The initial optimization will determine 5 important design parameters in a 2 DOF vibrational system, namely the masses (m1, m2 (and spring constants (k1, k2, k3). The second step will use these parameters as initial guesses for the second optimization which will maintain the ratios of these parameters and present electrical parameters to maximize the power output from this system. The obtained values indicated a successful demonstration of design optimization as the average power generated increased from 1.475 mW to 17.44 mW (around 12 times).

서울시 지하역사에서 PM10의 화학적 특성과 오염원의 확인 및 기여도 추정 (Identification of PM10 Chemical Characteristics and Sources and Estimation of their Contributions in a Seoul Metropolitan Subway Station)

  • Since the underground transportation system is a closed environment, indoor air quality problems may seriously affect many passengers' health. The purpose of this study was to understand $PM_{10}$ characteristics in the underground air environment and further to quantitatively estimate $PM_{10}$ source contributions in a Seoul Metropolitan subway station. The $PM_{10}$ was intensively collected on various filters with $PM_{10}$ aerosol samplers to obtain sufficient samples for its chemical analysis. Sampling was carried out in the M station on the Line-4 from April 21 to 28, July 13 to 21, and October 11 to 19 in the year of 2010 and January 11 to 17 in the year of 2011. The aerosol filter samples were then analyzed for metals, water soluble ions, and carbon components. The 29 chemical species (OC1, OC2, OC3, OC4, CC, PC, EC, Ag, Al, Ba, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Si, Ti, V, Zn, $Cl^-$, $NO_3{^-}$, $SO_4{^{2-}}$, $Na^+$, $NH_4{^+}$, $K^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$) were analyzed by using ICP-AES, IC, and TOR after proper pretreatments of each sample filter. Based on the chemical information, positive matrix factorization (PMF) model was applied to identify the $PM_{10}$ sources and then six sources such as biomass burning, outdoor, vehicle, soil and road dust, secondary aerosol, ferrous, and brakewear related source were classified. The contributions rate of their sources in tunnel are 4.0%, 5.8%, 1.6%, 17.9%, 13.8% and 56.9% in order.

자동차 환경에서 TDOA를 이용한 화자위치추정 방법 (On the speaker's position estimation using TDOA algorithm in vehicle environments)

  • 본 논문에서는 차량 내부 환경에서 음성인식 성능을 향상시켜 안정적인 차량 제어를 위한 방법으로 사용하는 음원 위치추정방법의 성능 비교와 개선 방법을 제안하였다. 일반적으로 음원 위치추정에는 TDOA알고리즘을 사용하는데 여기에는 시간영역에서 상호상관함수를 이용하는 방법과, 주파수 영역에서 계산하는 GCC-PHAT 방법이 있다. 이중 GCC-PHAT 방법은 상호상관함수보다 반향과 잡음에 강한 특성을 보인다고 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 반향과 잡음이 많은 차량 환경에서 위 두 방법의 성능을 비교하고 추가로 미디언 필터 사용을 제안하여 음원위치 추정 성능과 시스템의 안정성을 나타내는 지표로 사용하는 분산값이 모두 향상됨을 확인하였다. 실험결과에서 음성을 사용한 실험에서는 두 방법의 성능 차이가 거의 없지만, 노래신호를 사용한 음원위치 추정에서는 GCC-PHAT 방법이 상호상관함수에 비해 인식률이 10% 우수함을 확인하였다. 또한 미디언 필터를 추가한 경우에는 상호상관함수 방법의 인식률을 최고 11%까지 향상시킬 수 있었고 분산값에서도 두 방법 모두 안정적인 성능을 보여주었다.
