  • This study was carried out to apply the UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) coupled with Multispectral sensor for the algae bloom monitoring in river. The study acquired remote sensing data using UAV on the midstream area of Gum River, one of four major rivers in South Korea. Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) is used for monitoring algae change. This study conducted water sampling and analysis in the field for correlating with NDVI values. Among the samples analyzed, the chlorophyll concentration exhibited strong and significant linear relationships with NDVI, and thus NDVI was chosen for algae bloom index to identify emergence aspect of phytoplankton in river. Aerial remote sensing technology can provide more accurate, flexible, cheaper, and faster monitoring methods of detecting and predicting eutrophication and therefore cyanobacteria bloom in water reservoirs compared to currently used technology. As a result, there was high level of correlation in chlorophyll-a and NDVI. It is expected that when this remote water quality and pollution monitoring technology is applied in the field, it would be able to improve capabilities to deal with the river water quality and pollution at the early stage.

  • The autonomous vehicle is based on an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) consisting of a sensor that collects information about the surrounding environment and a control module that determines the measured data. As interest in autonomous navigation technology grows recently, an easy development framework for ADAS beginners and learners is needed. However, existing development and verification methods are based on high performance vehicle simulator, which has drawbacks such as complexity of verification method and high cost. Also, most of the schemes do not provide the sensing data required by the ADAS directly from the simulator, which limits verification reliability. In this paper, we present an interactive ADAS development and verification framework using a 3D vehicle simulator that overcomes the problems of existing methods. ADAS with image recognition based artificial intelligence was implemented as a virtual sensor in a 3D car simulator, and autonomous driving verification was performed in real scenarios.

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) imagery are being assessed for analyzing within field spatial variability for agricultural precision management, because UAV imagery may be acquired quickly during critical periods of rapid crop growth. This study refers to the derivation of barley and wheat growth prediction equation by using UAV derived vegetation index. UAV imagery was taken on the test plots six times from late February to late June during the barley and wheat growing season. The field spectral reflectance during growing period for the 5 variety (Keunal-bori, Huinchalssal-bori, Saechalssal-bori, Keumkang and Jopum) were measured using ground spectroradiometer and three growth parameters, including plant height, shoot dry weight and number of tiller were investigated for each ground survey. Among the 6 Vegetation Indices (VI), the RVI, NDVI, NGRDI and GLI between measured and image derived showed high relationship with the coefficient of determination respectively. Using the field investigation data, the vegetation indices regression curves were derived, and the growth parameters were tried to compare with the VIs value.

  • Recently, the services using position information of moving objects is embossed. Theses services needs the moving objects databases to manage moving object data with efficiency. To build the moving object databases, we must develop the moving object engine to mange, store, and search the spatio temporal data of moving object. The moving object engine has to support query syntax to search data that suitable for user need like LBS, Telematics, ITS, vehicle management system. In this paper, we design and implement the moving object engine to support service with moving object data. The moving object engine is able to support system environment that users are able to get the moving object data easily even they don't know complex data structure.

  • Recently the car attached many ECUs and entertainment devices to provide the easiness maintenance and driver's convenience. CAN and MOST networks have been used to manage and control those devices in the car. Wireless network also has been established to receive information from external. These days a car navigation system with GPS is being integrated with CAN, MOST and Wireless network. In these circumstances, the car navigation system can have HMI function to integrate and control the car networks' devices. To solve the GPS problems such as positioning errors or losing signals from satellites in the tunnels and urban canyons, this paper designs and implements a method for positioning vehicle by using the sensing data of sensors and Wi-Fi devices based on this integrated environment.

  • This paper describes a Power Monitoring Unit (PMU) for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) electrical system, It is designed for the PMU which performs data sensing of generator, transformer rectifier unit (TRU), battery and gear box installed in UAV and operate power ON/OFF devices of mission equipment. The PMU measures the voltage and current for the aircraft power source (generators, transformer rectifier unit and battery), measures the pressure and temperature of the gearbox, and performs the mission equipment power command received from the mission computer. The PMU was designed to meet the requirements of the UAV, and was performed through structure/thermal analysis, environmental test, EMI test and ground/flight tests.

  • Recently, various networks have been introduced in the car of the internal and external sides. These have been integrated by one HMI(Human Machine Interface) to control devices of each network and provide information service. The existing vehicle navigation system, providing GPS based vehicle positioning service, has been included to these integrated networks as a default option. The GPS has been used to the most universal device to provide position information by using satellites' signal. But It is impossible to provide the position information when the GPS can't receive the satellites' signal in the area of tunnel, urban canyon, or forest canopy. Thus, this paper propose and implement the method of measuring vehicle position by using the sensing data of internal CAN network and external Wi-Fi network of the integrated car navigation circumstances when the GPS doesn't work normally. The results obtained by implementation shows the proposed method works well by map matching.

  • In this paper, we describe reconstructed 3D-urban modeling techniques for laser scanner and CCD camera system, which are loading on the vehicle. We use two laser scanners, the one is horizon scanner and the other is vertical scanner. Horizon scanner acquires the horizon data of building for localization. Vertical scan data are main information for constructing a building. We compared extraction of edge aerial image with laser scan data. This method is able to correct the cumulative error of self-localization. Then we remove obstacles of 3D-reconstructed building. Real-texture information that is acquired with CCD camera is mapped by 3D-depth information. 3D building of urban is reconstructed to 3D-virtual world. These techniques apply to city plan. 3D-environment game. movie background. unmanned-patrol etc.

  • This paper presents a novel training data extraction approach using semi-supervised learning (SSL)-based classification without the analyst intervention for time-series land-cover mapping. The SSL-based approach first performs initial classification using initial training data obtained from past images including land-cover characteristics similar to the image to be classified. Reliable training data from the initial classification result are then extracted from SSL-based iterative classification using classification uncertainty information and class labels of neighboring pixels as constraints. The potential of the SSL-based training data extraction approach was evaluated from a classification experiment using unmanned aerial vehicle images in croplands. The use of new training data automatically extracted by the proposed SSL approach could significantly alleviate the misclassification in the initial classification result. In particular, isolated pixels were substantially reduced by considering spatial contextual information from adjacent pixels. Consequently, the classification accuracy of the proposed approach was similar to that of classification using manually extracted training data. These results indicate that the SSL-based iterative classification presented in this study could be effectively applied to automatically extract reliable training data for time-series land-cover mapping.
