  • This Paper proposed the prediction method of fuel consumption from vehicle diagnosis informations through OBD-II Interface. We assumed mass air flow (MAF), shor-term fuel trim (STFT), and long-term fuel trim (LTFT) had a relationship with fuel consumption. We got the output as fuel-consumption from MAF, STFT, and LTFT as input variables. We had modelling as combustion reaction equation with OBD-II data and fuel consumption data supported by automotive company in real. In order to verify the effectiveness of proposed method, 5 km real road-test was performed. The results showed that the proposed method can estimate precisely the fuel consumption from vehicle data.

  • In terms of the vehicle efficiency, a fuel cell hybrid system has advantages compared to a conventional internal combustion engine and a fuel cell alone-powered system. The efficiency of the fuel cell hybrid vehicle mainly depends on the maximum power of the fuel cell and therefore it is important to decide the design value of the fuel cell maximum power. In this paper, to estimate the performance of the fuel cell hybrid mini-bus in the design phase the simulator based on the models for the fuel cell stack, the electric battery, the fuel cell balance of plant, the controller, and the vehicle itself is proposed. Additionally, the hybrid mini-bus efficiencies with several different fuel cell powers are simulated for a city driving schedule and are compared on another. Consequently, the proposed simulation scheme is useful to determine the best design value of the fuel cell hybrid vehicles.

  • The main objective of the present study is to analyze the feasibility of fuel cell powered vehicle, which leads to carry out system design and performance analysis. The major design concepts which include battery, driving motor, and fuel cell module are analyzed and discussed for the future development. The traction power of fuel cell vehicle is calculated according to the driving courses specified. Further, the fuel cell stack is analyzed to determine the capacity of stack as a function of velocity for the appropriate power required.

  • In recent years, the development of fuel cell vehicles has further accelerated because of environmental problem and petroleum resources shortage. The fuel cell vehicles have the stack which converts fuel to electricity. The stack is usually mounted by bush to isolate the vibration of chassis and body. This paper analyzed the vibratory characteristics of stack and chassis, body system. The wheel forces of fuel cell vehicle are measured to estimate the road load data. And the paths of vibration from wheel to stack are analyzed by CAE. According to the test and CAE results, the improvement of stack vibration are evaluated.

  • To measure the fuel consumption rate of a vehicle, a car is tested on chassis dynamometer following given driving mode. But the fuel consumption rate measured by this method may be somewhat different from that measured in on-road driving conditions. It may be due to not considering road grade in driving modes. In this study, new driving modes which include road grade are proposed, and the simulation program to estimate the real driving fuel consumption rate of a vehicle is developed. On-road car tests to verify the simulation program are carried out and the results of the simulation are analysed and compared with those of the experiments.

  • Water management is important in proton exchange membrane fuel cell because the water balance has a significant impact on the overall fuel cell system performance. In fuel cell vehicle, the vehicle's power demand is dynamic; therefore, the dynamic water management system is required. This present study proposes a method to control the humidity of the input air in cathode side of the fuel cell vehicle. The simulation using several driving cycles shows the proposed air humidification control obtains a relatively good result. The liquid saturation level is seen constant at the target level although still there are small deviations at driving cycles which having averagely high power demands.

  • The objective of this paper is the development of the forward-looking dynamic simulation model of a hybrid electric vehicle(HEV) for a fuel economy study. The specification of the vehicle is determined based on two factors, engine peak power to curb weight ratio and specific engine power. The steady state efficiency models of the powertrain components are explained in detail. These include a spark ignition direct injection(SIDI) engine, an integrated starter alternator(ISA), and an infinitely variable transmission(IVT). The paper describes the integration of these models into a forward facing dynamic simulation diagram using the AMESim environment. Appropriate vehicle and driver models have been added and described. The controller was designed in Simulink and was combined with the physical powertrain model by the co-simulation interface. Finally, the simulation results of the HEV are compared with those of a baseline vehicle in order to demonstrate the fuel economy potential. Results for the vehicle speed error and the fuel economy over standard driving cycles are illustrated.

  • A shift algorithm of an automatic transmission is decided by the compromise between the performance and the fuel economy of the vehicle. But because in the traditional shia algorithm, throttle opening and vehicle speed are used to decide the shift points, the actual load of the vehicle is not exactly considered. In this paper, to consider the actual load, that is, the road grade and the vehicle acceleration, the longitudinal accelerometer is used to decide the shift points. As the result, the performance and the fuel economy of the vehicle which adapts the new shift algorithm are shown better than the traditional one.

  • In this study, we suggested an integrated humidification system for a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) as an efficient method of humidification under the various driving condition of the fuel cell vehicle and system. It is improving air humidification system combined the existing membrane humidifier and water injection. As a result, we verified it through experiments and the vehicle test and could get a result of improvement of humidification performance. The results show that an integrated humidification system is a useful method for FCEV applications.
