Chemically Modified Graphene and Their Hybrid Materials: Toward Printed Electronics

  • Chemically modified graphene has been great interest for the application of printed electronics using solution prossesable technique. Here, we demonstrate a large area graphene exfoliation method with fewer defects on the basal plane by application of shear stress in solution to obtain high quality reduced graphene oxide (RGO). Moreover, we introduce a novel route to preparing highly concentrated and conductive RGO in various solvents by monovalent cation-${\pi}$ interaction. Noncovalent binding forces can be induced between a monopole (cation) and a quadrupole (aromatic ${\pi}$ system). The stability of this RGO dispersion was more sensitive to the strength of the cation-${\pi}$ interactions than to the cation-oxygen functional group interactions. The RGO film prepared without a post-annealing process displayed superior electrical conductivity of 97,500 S/m. Our strategy can facilitate the development of large scalable production methods for preparing printed electronics made from high-quality RGO nanosheets.

Stoichiometric Effects. Correlation of the Rates of Solvolysis of Isopropenyl Chloroformate

  • Solvolysis rates of isopropenyl chloroformate (3) in water, $D_2O$, $CH_3OD$ and in aqueous methanol, ethanol, 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE), acetone, 1,4-dioxane as well as TFE-ethanol at 10 ${^{\circ}C}$ are reported. Additional kinetic data for pure water, pure ethanol and 80%(w/w) 2,2,2-trifuoroethanol (T)-water (W) at various temperatures are also reported. These rates show the phenomena of maximum rates in specific solvents (30% (v/v) methanol-water and 20% (v/v) ethanol-water) and, variations in relative rates are small in aqueous alcohols. The kinetic data are analyzed in terms of GW correlations, steric effect, kinetic solvent isotope effects (KSIE), and a third order model based on general base catalysis (GBC). Solvolyses based on predominately stoichiometric solvation effect relative to medium solvation are proceeding in 3 and the results are remarkably similar to those for p-nitrobenzoyl chloride (4) in mechanism and reactivity.

  • An efficient and novel positive charge-doping on the sidewalls of multi-walled carbon nanotubes has been achieved in the presence of tetrahydrofuran as a dopant and Lewis acidic ionic liquids, [bmim]$Sb_nF_{5n+1}$ (n ${\geq}$ 2; bmim = 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium), as an activator, leaving air-stable derivatives having positively charged sidewalls and the counter anions, [MWCNT$^{y+}$][SbF$_6^-$]$_y$ (MWCNT = multi-walled carbon nanotube). The derivatization took place very fast in one-pot and under mild reaction conditions. The ionic structure enabled a tunable dissolution of the derivatives in various solvents through anion exchange.

  • 여러가지 수용성 혼합용매내에서 파라 치환체인 acyl chloride류와 alkyl chloride류의 가용매분해 반응속도를 여러 온도와 압력하에서 전도도 방법에 의하여 측정하였다. 이들 속도상수로 부터 활성화 파라미터들(${\Delta}V^{\neq},\; {\Delta}H^{\neq},\; {\Delta}S^{\neq}$)을 구하였다. 또한 활성화 부피와 활성화 엔트로피 관계로 부터 이들 반응에 대한 반응성을 조사하였다.

OenNtn 합성수지를 이용한 금속이온들의 흡착에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Adsorption of Metal Ions Utilizing OenNtn Synthetic Resin)

  • The ion exchange resins have been synthesized from chlormethyl styrene-1,4-divinyl benzene(DVB) with 1%, 5%, and 10%-crosslinking and macrocyclic ligand of cryptand type by copolymerization method and the adsorption characteristics of uranium(VI), lead(II) and holmium(III) ions have been investigated in various experimental conditions. The correlation between the adsorption characteristics of rare earths and transition metal on the resins and stability constants of complexes with macrocyclic ligand have been examined. The $UO_2^{2+}$ aqueous solutions are not adsorbed on the resins below pH 3.0, but the power of adsorption of $UO_2^{2+}$ increased rapidly above pH 4.0. The adsorption power was in the order of 1%, 10%, and 5%-crosslinked resin, but adsorptive characteristics of resins decreased in proportion to the order of dielectric constants of solvents.

OenNtn-스틸렌-DVB 수지를 이용한 우라늄(VI) 이온의 흡착 (Adsorption of Uranium Ion Utilizing OenNtn-Styrene-DVB Resin)

  • Resins have been synthesized from chlormethyl styrene 1,4- divinylbenzene(DVB) with 1%, 4%, and 20%-crosslinked and macrocyclic ligand of cryptand type by copolymerization method and the adsorption of uranium(VI), nickel(II) and lutetium(III) ions have been investigated in various experimental conditions. The uranium ion was not adsorbed on the resins below pH 2.0, but the power of adsorption of uranium ion increased rapidly above pH 3.0. Dispersion stability of polyelectrolyte-wrapped carbon black particles in a highly fluorinated solvent

  • The dielectric medium used in electrophoretic displays (EPDs) is required to be an environmentally friendly solvent with high density, low viscosity, and a large electric constant. Hydrofluoroether, a highly fluorinated solvent with eco-friendly characteristics, is regarded as a viable alternative medium for EPDs, owing to the similarity of its physical properties to those of the conventional EPD medium. Surface modification of particles is required, however, in order for it to disperse in the charged solvent. Also, positive/negative charges should be present on the particle surface to enable electrophoretic behavior. In this study, carbon black particles wrapped with positively charged nitrogen (N-CBs) were fabricated by a simple hydrothermal process using a poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) solution as a black coloring agent for the EPD. The dispersion behavior of N-CBs was investigated in various solvents.

고온 열분해 반응법을 이용한 PbSe 나노입자의 Acetic Acid 첨가에 대한 영향 (The Effect of Acetic Acid in Synthesizing PbSe Quantum Dots by Hot Solution Chemical Process)

  • PbSe, with a band gap in the mid-infrared and a samll effective mass, is an interesting material for optical and electrical applications in infrared region. Various colloidal synthetic routes for synthesizing PbSe quantum dot nanoparticles have been developed in the last couple of years. In this work, stable colloidal solutions containing crystalline PbSe particles in the order of 5-15 nm were synthesized using different amount of acetic acid in high boiling coordinating solvents. The size and shape of PbSe nanoparticles was greatly influenced by coexistence of acetic acid in synthetic medium. It was observed by TEM that the shape of PbSe nanoparticles with different amount of acetic acid was changed from spherical to cube or star types.

페놀분해세균의 분리 및 생물학적 처리 특성 (Characterization of Biological Treatment by an Isolated Phenol-Degrading Bacterium)

  • 20 bacterial strains capable of growing on phenol minimal medium were isolated from soil and wastewater by the enrichment culture technique, and among them, one isolate which was the best in the cell growth was selected and identified as Bacillus sp. SH3 by its characteristics. Strain SH3 could grow with phenol as the sole carbon source up to 15 mM, but did not grow in minimal medium containing above 20 mM of phenol. The optimal conditions of temperature and initial pH for growth and phenol degradation were 30$^{\circ}$C and 7.5, respectively. This strain could grow on various aromatic compounds such as catechol, protocatechuic acid, gentisic acid, o-, m-, p-cresol, benzoic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, anthranilic acid, phenyl acetate and pentachlorophenol, and the growth-limiting log P value of strain SH3 on organic solvents was 3.1. In batch culture, strain SH3 degraded 97% of 10 mM phenol in 48 hours. In continuous culture under the conditions of 20 mM of influent phenol concentration and 0.050 hr$^{-1}$ of dilution rate, the treatment rate of phenol was 94%.

호장근 추출액에 의한 염색성(Ⅱ) - 호장근 추출액의 자외 · 가시부 분광 특성 - (The Dyeing Properties of Korean Knotweed Extract(Ⅱ) - The UV-visible Spectrophotometric Characteristics of Korean Knotweed Extracts -)

  • The Purpose of this study was to investigate spectrophotometric characteristics of Korean knotweed extracts. The properties were evaluated by it′s extracting solvent, effect of metallic ion, variations of pH values and effect of light exposure. The results were as following; The highest absorbance was found in methanol extract of Korean knotweed, while the lowest absorbance was carbon tetrachloride extract. The UV-vis. spectra of Korean knotweed colors in several solvents showed hypsochromic shift of n-π/sup */ transition with the polarity of solvent. Absorbance and peak of UV-vis. spectra of Korean knotweed colors became lower and broader by addition of metallic ion. The light stability in irradiation with xenon ]amp of the color solution with Cu were higher than those of Al and Fe. The UV-vis. spectra of Korean knotweed extracts in various pH values showed bathochromic shift under alkaline condition, and their peaks disappeared after 5 hours exposure.
