희토류금속 착물의 합성과 전기화학적 특성 (Synthesis and Electrochemical Characteristics of Rare Earths Metal Complexes)

  • 란탄나이드 3가 (Pr(III)와 Yb(III))와 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedione(dipivaloylmethane) 착물들의 전기화학적 거동을 DC와 DP 그리고 CV 방법으로 조사하였다. 란탄나이드 3가 착물들 중 Pr(III)의 환원은 Ag-AgCl 전극으로 Epc = -0.13 V와 -0.80 V 그리고 Yb(III)는 -0.02 Ⅴ로 1전자이동에 의한 것임을 알았고, 1차 화학평형반응이 가역과 비가역으로 진행되는 ErCr전극과정임을 DP와 CV로부터 알았다. 평형상수 lnK는 여러 용매들로부터 얻었고, 이들 상수는 용매의 유전상수가 감소함에 따라 증가됨을 알았다. 이들 반응에서 lnK는 여러 용매에 대한 ln(1/D)을 도시하면 좋은 직선관계에 있었고, 이 때 란탄나이드의 거동은 원자번호가 증가함에 따라서 lnK가 감소하였다.

혼합 용매에 의한 폴리카보네이트의 표면 결정화 (Surface Crystallization of Polycarbonate by Mixed Solvents)

  • 본 연구에서는 무정형의 폴리카보네이트를 bisphenol-A 및 disphenyl carbonate를 원료로 하여 융용중합방법에 의해 분자량 별로 합성하고 표면처리에 의한 결정화 거동을 살펴보았다. 사용된 결정화 방법으로는 용매 결정화 방법이 사용되었다. 용매의 종류 및 혼합용매의 조성, 온도, 분자량 등에 따른 결정도 및 용융온도의 차이를 DSC, XRD, SEM 등을 이용하여 관찰하였다. 폴리카보네이트의 분자량이 낮음에 따라, 용매 결정화 온도가 높아짐에 따라 용매 결정화에 의한 결정화도가 증가함을 확인할 수 있었으며, 용매 결정화 온도 및 농도가 높아짐에 따라 상대적으로 균일한 결정이 얻어짐을 확인하였다. 또한 혼합용매를 사용함으로써 원하는 표면적을 지닌 결정성 폴리카보네이트를 제조할 수 있었으며, 용매/비용매 비율이 10/90인 혼합용매를 사용한 경우 표면적이 큰 폴리카보네이트를 얻을 수 있었다.

α-Lipoic acid의 희석용매, 처리농도, 처리시간에 따른 3T3-L1 지방세포 성장에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of α-Lipoic Acid in Adilution Solvents, Dose- and Time-dependent Manner on Cell Growth Blocking in 3T3-L1)

  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid in diluted solvents on cell growth in 3T3-L1 cells according to the treated concentration and times. Methods: Adipocyte 3T3-L1 cell were cultured. Confluent cells underwent starvation with SFM for 1 day and then were cultured in a medium containing various concentrations 0, 100, 200, and $400{\mu}mol/L$ of ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid. The cell viability was measured using the EZ Cytox assay kit. In addition, the effect of ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid of diluted solvents on the cell growth in 3T3-L1cells was examined according to the treated concentration and times. Results: The ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid diluted ethanol inhibited cell proliferation in a dose and time dependent manner. The ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid diluted ethanol induced adipocyte 3T3-L1 cells proliferation with an adipocyte inducer. In addition, ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid inhibited adipocyte 3T3-L1 growth in a dose and time dependent manner (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study showed that a treatment with ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid diluted ethanol inhibits cell growth of, adipocyte 3T3-L1 cells induced with an adipocyte inducer, ($200{\mu}mol/L$ of ${\alpha}$-lipoic acid) treated for 48 hr.

친핵성 첨가반응에 대한 용매효과 (I) Phenylvinylketone에 대한 아민의 첨가반응속도에 미치는 용매의 극성효과 (Solvent Effects on the Nucleophilc Addition (I) Effect of Solvent Polarity on the Nucleophilic Addition of Amine to Phenylvinylketone)

  • 여러 가지 용매에서 phenylvinylketone에 대한 아민(piperidine 및 diethyl-amine)의 친핵성 첨가반응 속도 상수를 $25^{\circ}C$에서 분광광도법으로 측정한 결과 그의 첨가반응 속도상수는 용매의 극성에 비례함을 알았고 이것을 Kirkwood식으로 잘 설명할 수 있었다. 즉, 이 반응은 고리형 구조의 zwitter ion 중간체를 거쳐 일어남을 알 수 있었다. 또 phenylvinylketone에 대한 아민의 첨가반응에서 3차 아민은 1차 및 2차 아민에서 보다 반응이 훨씬 느리게 진행되었으며 이것은 1차 및 2차 아민에서는 고리형 구조의 zwitter ion 중간체를 형성할 수 있고 또한 음전하의 비편재화 및 엔올형의 구조까지 가능하지만 3차 아민에서는 위의 구조들이 불가능하기 때문에 1차 및 2차 아민에서 보다 느리게 진행된다고 생각된다.

New Cryptand Complexes of Lanthanides(Ⅲ) and Dioxouranium(Ⅵ) Nitrates

  • The following new cryptand 221 complexes of lanthanides(Ⅲ) and dioxouranium(Ⅵ) nitrate have been synthesized: $(Ln(C_{16}H_{32}N_2O_5)(H_2O)_2(NO_3)_3\ and \((UO_2)_2(C_{16}H_{32}N_2O_5)(H_2O)_4(NO_3)_4$. These complexes have been identified by elemental analysis, moisture titration, conductivity measurements and various spectroscopic techniques. The proton and carbon-13 NMR as well as calorimetric measurements were used to study the interaction of cryptand 221 with La(Ⅲ), Pr(Ⅲ ), Ho(Ⅲ) and $UO_2(Ⅱ)$ ions in nonaqueous solvents. The bands of metal-oxygen atoms, metal-nitrogen atoms and O-U-O in the IR spectra shift upon complexation to lower frequencies, and the vibrational spectra ({\delta}NMN$) of metal-amide complexes in the crystalline state exhibit lattice vibrations below 300 $cm^{-1}$. The NMR spectra of the lanthanides(Ⅲ) and dioxouranium(Ⅵ) nitrate complexes in nonaqueous solvents are quite different, indicating that the ligand exists in different conformation, and also the $^1H$ and $^{13}C-NMR$ studies indicated that the nitrogen atom of the ring has greater affinity to metal ions than does the oxygen atom, and the planalities of the ring are lost by complexation with metal ions. Calorimetric measurements show that cryptand 221 forms more stable complexes with $La^{3+}$ and $Pr^{3+}$ ions than with $UO^{22+}$ ion, and $La^{3+}/Pr^{3+}$ and $UO^{22+}/Pr^{3+}$ selectivity depends on the solvents. These changes on the stabilities are dependent on the basicity of the ligand and the size of the metal ions. The absorption band (230-260 nm) of the complex which arises from the direct interaction of macrocyclic donor atoms with the metal ion is due to n-{\delta}*$ transition and also that (640-675 nm) of $UO^{22+}$-cryptand 221 complex, which arises from interaction between two-dioxouranium(Ⅵ) ions in being out of cavity of the ligand ring is due to d-d* transition.

  • The ring opening of epoxides with elemental iodine and bromine in the presence of three diamine podands 7-9 as new catalysts affords vicinal iodo alcohols and bromo alcohols in high yields. This new procedure occurs regioselectively under neutral and mild conditions in various aprotic solvents even when sensitive functional groups are presented.

  • Most applications of polymers involve blends and mixtures of components including solvents, surfactants, copolymers, fillers, organic or inorganic functional additives, and various processing aids. These components provide unique properties of polymeric materials even beyond those tailored into the basic chemical structures. In addition, skillful processing extends the properties for even greater applications. The perennial challenge of polymer science is to understand and exploit the structure-processing-property interplay relationship. We are developing and demonstrating combinatorial methods and high throughput analysis as tools to provide this fundamental understanding.

감잎의 항산화 효과 (Antioxidative Effect of Persimmon Leaves)

  • The production of malondiadehyde(MDA) was significantly decreased when the methoanol extract of persimmon leaves was added to the system. The methanol extract of persimmon leaves was fractionated by using various solvents such as hexane, chloroform, ethylacetate and butanol. Among the above fractions especially the chloroform fraction, ethylacetate fraction revealed the strong antioxidative activities. The hot water extract of the persimmon leaves was less effective than tannin which was extracted from persimmon leaves in antioxidative activity.

  • The indole tolerance level of Pseudomonas savastanoi BCNU 106 was as high as 300 mg/ml when toluene or p-xylene was added to the medium to 20% by volume. Pseudomonas savastanoi BCNU 106 grown in a two-phase system containing the various concentrations of indole and solvents produced indigo and indirubin. The optimal condition in the production of indigo and indirubin was also studied.

  • New X-shaped crystalline molecules have been synthesized through various coupling reactions and their electronic properties were investigated. They exhibit good solubility in common organic solvents and good self-film forming properties. They are intrinsically crystalline as they exhibit well-defined X-ray diffraction patterns from uniform and preferred orientations of molecules. They also exhibited high field effect mobilities in thin film transistor (TFT) and good device performances.
