  • Rib structure has been used to bed and column of machine tool to heighten weight stiffness ratio, cost performance and weight saving. In this paper the bed rib structure was estimated with thermal characteristics. Using superposition principle, machine tool designer can describe every complicated heat generation in the machine tool thermal source. As thermal characteristics, thermal deformation of guide rail and column and Maximum-minimum temperature variation were selected. The size, configuration and direction against the thermal loading surface operated to the thermal characteristics. The DB chart was made following rib structure estimating thermal characteristics. With superposition principle and DB chart, machine tool designer can prognosticate the thermal characteristics without FEM analysis to every bed rib structure.

  • Perception of sweet compounds is important for animals to detect external carbohydrate source of calories and plays a crucial role in feeding behavior of animals. Recent progress in molecular genetic studies provides evidence for a candidate receptor (heterodimers with taste receptor type 1 member 2 and 3: T1R2/T1R3), and major downstream transduction molecules required for sweet taste signaling. Several studies demonstrated that the sweet taste signal can be modulated by a satiety hormone, leptin, through its receptors expressed in a subset of sweet-sensitive taste cells. Increase of internal energy storage in the adipose tissue leads to increase in the plasma leptin level which can reduce activities of sweet-sensitive cells. In human, thus, diurnal variation of plasma leptin level parallels variation of taste recognition thresholds for sweet compounds. This leptin modulation of sweet taste sensitivity may influence individuals' preference, ingestive behavior, and absorption of nutrients, thereby plays important roles in regulation of energy homeostasis.

  • Islanding phenomenon of a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) power conditioning system (PCS) is said to occur if the PCS continues to power a section of the utility system after that section has been disconnected from the utility source. Since islanding creates hazards for personnel and equipment, PCSs are required to detect and prevent Et. In this paper, several islanding detection methods (IDMs) and reactive power variation method are described. Islanding test results for 9kW PCS are presented for verification.

  • In this paper, We have measured the luminous flux variation of electrodeless fluorescent lamp system reducing a power source to 70% and applying a short interruption caused by the power failure. So we can understood that the protective device for apparatus of power sources is important thing to control electrodeless fluorescent lamp system.

  • Variation of tracer distribution during the vortex-breakup period in the Antarctic region was observed by the data from the Improved Limb Atmospheric Spectrometer (ILAS) and ILAS-II. All four trace species including methane, nitrous oxide, ozone, and water vapor show similar patterns of vertical gradient in spite of different structures of zonal mean mixing ratio. Timings of vortex breakup on each level are estimated by two different methods, and they are compared with zonal standard deviations following the latitude circle of each trace species. Although the tracers have different chemical life times and sink/source, the zonal standard deviation patterns show remarkable similarities. The zonal standard deviation shown here to measure the zonal asymmetry of tracer distribution is believed to diagnose the timing of the Antarctic polar-vortex breakup reasonably well.

  • Misalignment between the electronic and mechanical axes of rotation will result in artifact generation and image degradation during single photon emission computed tomography(SPECT) reconstruction. Acceptance and quality control testing procedures have not emphasized the variability in center of rotation(COR) measurements caused by collimators and the need to verify uniformity across the full collimator field of view (FOV). Variation from the mean COR across the FOV was tested in four different collimators using multiple point source acquisitions. The mean COR was different for each collimator and one of the four had a > 0.5 pixel difference from the mean COR on some area of the FOV, This variation makes this collimator unacceptable for SPECT acquisition. Thus, initial acceptance testing of SPECT collimators should verify a uniform COR across the full FOV and collimators with a variability from the mean COR > 0.5 pixels should be rejected.

  • We have observed the short-channel effect, narrow-channel effect and small-geometry effect in terms of a variation of the threshold voltage. For a short-channel effect the threshold voltage was largely determined by the DIBL effect which stimulates more carrier injection in the channel by reducing the potential barrier between the source and channel. The effect becomes more significant for a shorter-channel device. However, the potential, field and current density distributions in the channel along the transverse direction showed a better uniformity for shorter-channel devices under the same voltage conditions. The uniformity of the current density distribution near the drain on the potential minimum point becomes worse with increasing the drain voltage due to the enhanced DIBL effect. This means that considerations for channel-width effect should be given due to the variation of the channel distributions for short-channel devices. For CCDs which are always operated at a pinch-off state the channel uniformity thus becomes significant since they often use a device structure with a channel length of > 4 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and a very high drain (or diffusion) voltage. • The variation of sheet resistance and the reduction of masking oxide thickness with the flow rate of nitrogen gas has been measured in Boron predeposition process with Planar Diffusion source, BN-975. At 900.deg. C, the sheet resistance varied as much as 75% when the nitrogen flow rate was changed from 0.4 liters/min to 2.0 liters/min. At 975.deg. C, however, only 12% of sheet resistance variation was observed under the same flow rate change. The reduction of masking oxide thickness at 975.deg. C for a 5 min predeposition was 600 nm when the nitrogen flow rate was 0.4 liters/min. When the flow rate incresased to 1.9 liters/min, however, only 100nm of masking oxide was consumed in a similar predeposition process.

  • Electrical characteristics of split-gate flash EEPROM with triple polysilicon is investigated in terms of effects of floating gate and offset gate. In order to search for t the effects of offset gate on programming characteristics, threshold voltage and drain current are studied with variation of control gate voltage. The programming process is believed to depend on vertical and horizontal electric field as well as offset gate length. The erase and program threshold voltage are found to be almost constant with variation of control gate voltage above 12V, while endurance test indicates degradation of program threshold voltage. With increase of offset gate length, program threshold voltage becomes smaller and the drain source voltage just after program under constant control gate voltage becomes higher.

  • In this paper, a superposed discharge type ozonizer(IESDO) has been designed and manufactured. IESDO is equipped with three electrodes(central, internal and external electrodes), and it is composed of two gaps. Ozone is generated by overlapping silent discharge, which is respectively came from two gaps. This paper describes the following characteristics : (1) The characteristics of discharge with variation of output voltage of AC H.V source, quantity of supplied gas and discharge voltage (2) the characteristics of ozone generation with variation of quantity of supplied gas, discharge power, operating number of IESDO.
