거리 변환에 기반한 콜로니 계수 알고리즘 (A Colony Counting Algorithm based on Distance Transformation)

  • One of the main applications of digital image processing is the estimation of the number of certain types of objects (cells, seeds, peoples etc.) in an image. Difficulties of these counting problems depends on various factors including shape and size variation, degree of object clustering, contrast between object and background, object texture and its variation, and so on. In this paper, a new automatic colony counting algorithm is proposed. We focused on the two applications: counting the bacteria colonies on the agar plate and estimating the number of seeds from images captured by smartphone camera. To overcome the shape and size variations of the colonies, we adopted the distance transformation and peak detection approach. To estimate the reference size of the colony robustly, we also used k-means clustering algorithm. Experimental results show that our method works well in real world applications.

NEAR-IR PHOTOMETRIC AND OPTICAL SPECTROSCOPIC STUDY OF THE FU ORIONIS OBJECT V582 AURIGAE

  • We carried out near-IR photometric and optical spectroscopic observations of V582 Aur, which is a FU Orionis type object, to investigate any periodic and/or aperiodic variations. We obtained light curves on the scale of a night and a year, in J, H and Ks bands with KASINICS (KASI Near Infrared Camera System) attached to the BOAO (Bohyun-san Optical Astronomy Observatory) 1.8-m reflector in Youngcheon, South Korea and examined photometric variations on the two time scales. So far we have not found any periodic brightness variations on the scale of a night. On the other hand, we have found that there seems to be a periodic brightness variation with a period of approximately 45 days. In addition, high-resolution optical spectroscopic observations of V582 Aur were performed from February 2013 to May 2014 with the high-resolution echelle spectrograph BOES attached to the BOAO 1.8-m reflector. We analyzed several spectral lines to understand the physical state of V582 Aur. The P Cyg profiles are clearly shown in the $H{\alpha}$ line and Na I D line.

비선형 전변동을 이용한 초점거리 변화 기반의 3 차원 깊이 측정 방법 (3D Shape Recovery Using Image Focus through Nonlinear Total Variation)

  • Shape From Focus (SFF) is a passive optical technique to recover 3D structure of an object that utilizes focus information from 2D images of the object taken at different focus levels. Mostly, SFF methods use a single focus measure to compute image focus quality of each pixel in the image sequence. However, it is difficult to recover accurate 3D shape using a single focus measure, as different focus measures perform differently in diverse conditions. In this paper, a nonlinear Total Variation (TV) based approach is proposed for 3D shape recovery. To improve the result of surface reconstruction, several initial depth maps are obtained using different focus measures and the resultant 3D shape is obtained by diffusing them through TV. The proposed method is tested and evaluated by using image sequences of synthetic and real objects. The results and comparative analysis demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.

  • 본 논문은 서베일런스 네트워크에서 영상의 색상 정보를 이용한 객체 추적 방법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 적응적인 색상 모델을 이용한 객체 검출을 수행한다. 객체 윤곽선 검출은 객체 인식과 같은 응용에서 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 실험 결과는 색상과 크기에서 객체의 다양한 변화가 있을 때에도 성공적인 객체 검출을 증명한다. 실시간으로 객체를 검출하는 응용 분야에서 대량의 영상 데이터를 전송할 때 색상 분포의 형태를 찾아내는 것이 가능하다. 객체의 특정 색상 정보는 입력 영상에서 동적으로 변화하는 색상에서 자주 수정되어진다. 그래서, 이 알고리즘은 해당 추적 영역 안에서 객체의 추적 영역 정보를 탐지하고 그 객체의 움직임만을 추적한다. 실험을 통해, 본 논문은 어떤 이상적인 상황하에서 제안하는 객체 추적 알고리즘이 다른 방법보다 더 강인한 면이 있다는 것을 보여준다.

  • This paper proposes a new algorithm for recognizing polyhedral objects using a single 2-D image. It is base don a new representation scheme having two level hierarchey. In the lower level, geometrical features of each primitive surface are represented using their signatures and the variation of signature due to rotation is represented suing the rotation map. In the higher level, topological features are represented in the inter-surface description table(SDT). Based on the proposed representaton scheme, loer level database searched to find a matching primitive surface. The srotation map determines the degree of rotation as well as the matchness. If all surfaces in a test object find their matching primitive surfaces, its structural information is compared with the SDTs of object models. If primitive surfaces of a test object equal to tha tof certain model and satisfy inter-surfaces relationship in SDT, a test object is recognized as the model.

  • We propose a new method for merging partical regions which have similar motion characteristics. In the proposed method, the trajectories of each partial regions are computed and the regions consisting a same object are merged by a similarity function defined in this paper. The similarity function is defined to take into consideration the motion characteristics of the trajectories. The proposed method shows good performance when the regions of an object show little variation in size and shape.

  • This paper describes a model and system development for support an object-based scalability to provide adaptive MPEG-4 contents. One of the problem encountered by a multimedia service in heterogeneous network environment is the variation in the client's playback capability. Therefore, we provide technique which give an adaptability to MPEG-4 encoders so that make it possible to service adaptive MPEG-4 contents to a certain end terminal.

  • 의미있는 객체를 배경과 분리하는 영상분할기법은 침입자 경보 시스템, 교통 감시 시스템 등에서 중요한 역할을 담당하며, 일반적으로 공간적 동질성이나 시간적 정보를 이용하는 방법으로 나눌 수 있다. 시간적 정보를 이용하는 방법은 프레임간의 화소값이나 에지성분을 이용한다. 화소값 이용은 간단하며 효과적이나 조명 변화 등이 발생할 경우 움직임 검출이 어렵고 에지성분의 이용은 조명의 영향을 받지 않지만 복잡하며 잡음처리에 어려운 점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 카메라가 고정된 감시 시스템에서 화소값 비교와 에지 정보를 이용하여 조명등의 영향을 최소화하는 움직임 객체 추출 방법을 제안한다. 이는 조명변화와 배경영상의 존재여부에 따라 세 가지 움직임 객체 추출 방법을 달리 적용하며, 투영과 형태 처리 연산자를 사용하는 후처리과정을 거친 후 움직임 객체를 추출한다. 모의실험 결과 제안알고리즘은 조명변화가 발생하더라도 객체 추출의 결과가 우수함을 보이고 있다.

Moving Object Detection Using Sparse Approximation and Sparse Coding Migration

  • In order to meet the requirements of background change, illumination variation, moving shadow interference and high accuracy in object detection of moving camera, and strive for real-time and high efficiency, this paper presents an object detection algorithm based on sparse approximation recursion and sparse coding migration in subspace. First, low-rank sparse decomposition is used to reduce the dimension of the data. Combining with dictionary sparse representation, the computational model is established by the recursive formula of sparse approximation with the video sequences taken as subspace sets. And the moving object is calculated by the background difference method, which effectively reduces the computational complexity and running time. According to the idea of sparse coding migration, the above operations are carried out in the down-sampling space to further reduce the requirements of computational complexity and memory storage, and this will be adapt to multi-scale target objects and overcome the impact of large anomaly areas. Finally, experiments are carried out on VDAO datasets containing 59 sets of videos. The experimental results show that the algorithm can detect moving object effectively in the moving camera with uniform speed, not only in terms of low computational complexity but also in terms of low storage requirements, so that our proposed algorithm is suitable for detection systems with high real-time requirements.
