  • Purpose: This study investigated the factors affecting the quality of life (QOL) of the primary caregivers of home health care patients. Method: The subjects were 110 primary caregivers of patients who were receiving home health care from two home health care centers affiliated with general hospitals in Seoul. Data collection was conducted using five questionnaires. Results: Positive relationships were evident between QOL and social support and perceived health status of the primary caregiver. Negative relationships were evident between QOL and burden and depression. Multiple linear regression analysis for QOL revealed that the most powerful influencing factor was social support. Social support, burden, and depression explained 34.3% of the variance. Conclusion: Burden, depression, and social support are related with QOL of primary caregivers of home health care patients. Nursing intervention strategies directed at this caregiver population are needed.

  • This paper studies computer programming for the analysis of data obtained by experiments using Orthogonal Arrays. The following items are considered in the computer programming : * significant digits in the computation of Sum of Squares, Mean Squares and Variance Ratios * containing the necessary F-distribution values in the program. * matching the rules of KS A 0021 and 3251 in the digit treatments etc. The running results of ANOVA Table and Pooled ANOVA Table of a fictitious example is added with the parts of a program. It should be mentioned that the main purpose of this paper is in the arousing of the discussion about significant digits concept in the computer programming for various kinds of Statistical Methods.

  • This study was done to evaluate the quality of clinical nursing care using the variables of structure, process, and outcome and to analyze the relationship between the variables. This study also explored which variables are validating indicators to evaluate the quality of nursing care. The results analyzed by multiple regression showed that, generally structural variables did not contribute to the variance in outcome scores, but process variables of nursing care contributed significantly to the outcome variable of patient satisfaction. A combination of structure and process variables explained outcome variables more than structural variables alone. Also, patient satisfaction and hospital preference were significantly related to each other. Therefore, if nursing quality evaluation relies solely upon on structural variables such as number of available nurses and workload, it would be inaccurate because process variables of nursing care are strongly related to outcome variables and the two categories of structure and process variables helped to strengthen the relationships. Thus, it is important to focus on variables of structure, process, ant outcome together in evaluating nursing care quality.

  • Cutting by a high speed laser cutting machine is one of most effective technologies to improve productivity. This paper has presented the cutting characteristics and optimal cutting conditions in a high speed feeding type laser cutting machine by using Tacuchi method in the design of experiment. An L9(34) orthogonal array is adopted to study the effect of adjustment parameters. The adjustment parameters consist of cutting speed, laser power, laser output duty and assistant gas pressure. The surface roughness of sheet metal is regarded as a quality feature. Analysis of variance is performed in order to evaluate the effect of adjustment parameters on the quality feature of laser cutting process.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a tool to assess degree of health promotion behavior for infants & toddlers. Method: The research design was a methodological study. The tool was developed in 4 stages: first, preliminary items were developed based on a questionnaire that was given to 20 mothers of infants & toddlers second, a panel of specialists reduced the preliminary items using 3 validity tests; third, final items were selected from the results of a test with a sample of 262 families. Results: The final tool to measure the health promotion behavior consisted of 35 items and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient for internal consistency was .884. Using factor analysis, a 7 factor solution explained 45.6% of the total variance. Conclusion: This tool can be effectively utilized for child health care.

  • When the lateral dimensions of a duct is larger than or comparable to the wavelengths of Interest, higher order modes propagate in the duct. These modes will be radiated and produce noise. A number of sensors and actuators for control of radiating noise from the duct have to be incorporated with the number of modes which one wants to control. These considerations motivated the present study that considers a control system which has less microphones and control sources than required. In this work, by theoretical analysis, the control performance of such a kind of system is investigated in terms of sound-field variables and control system variables. The possible maximum and minimum value. mean and variance of residual acoustic potential energy are derived for the set of primary sound fields.

  • Carbonation depth was verified in 40 points of two 57 years old concrete viaducts. Field testing (phenolphthalein spraying) was performed on the structures. Data obtained were statistically analyzed by the Kolmogrov-Smirnov's test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA's test), and Fisher's method. The results revealed significant differences between maximum carbonation depths of different elements of the same concrete structure. Significant differences were also found in the carbonation of different concrete structures inserted in the same macroclimate. Microclimatic factors such as temperature and local humidity, sunshine, wind, wetting and drying cycles, among others, may have been responsible by the behavior of carbonation in concrete.

  • Germination and vegetative growth of Enteromorpha multiramosa Bliding from Pyoson, Cheju Island were investigated in laboratory under various combinations of temperature (5-$25^{\circ}C$) and salinity (8-48$^{\circ}C$). Percent level of germination was relatively high at all combinations of the two factors. The highest value among the combinations was revealed at 15$^{\circ}C$ and 32$\textperthousand$. Dry weight also was fairly high at all levels of combination with maximum value at 2$0^{\circ}C$ and 32$\textperthousand$. Analysis of variance for germination and growth was completed respectively and polynomial prediction models were constructed. F ratio revealed that all factors had a significant effect (p<0.001) on percentage of germination and dry weight, and their interactions also were significant (p<0.001), although the F ratio of interactions was far less than that for either the separate effect of temperature or salinity. Response surface of polynomial equation represented that temperature influenced less than salinity on germination, while it effected remarkably on vegetative growth, so the Enteromorpha multiramosa was kept to visible macrothalli from winter to spring in Cheju Island.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects socio-demographic and socio-psychological variables on the proppensity for conspicuous consumption of adolescents. The data used in this study were collected through questionnaires on 488 adolescents living in Kyongju City. The data were analyzed by using SPSS-win program. The specific objectives of this study were to invetigate the difference of adolescent consumers’ propensity for conspicuous consumption and to predict the independent effects on the propensity for conspicuous consumption by socio-demographic & socio-psychological variables The results of this study were as follows: 1) The adolescent consumers’propensity for conspicuous consumption was different significantly according to the socio-demographic variables such as school. the subjective level of household consumption. the allowance interval. the amount of allowance. 2) According to the results of the multipul regression-analysis were in the order of: materialism the frequency of communication with their friends. the perceived level of living. and the amount of allowance. These independent variables explain 29.8% of the total variance.
