  • In this paper a pH process of a weak acid with a strong base is modeled into a bilinear form, and a self-tuning pH control algorithm which is robust against initial values of solution and disturbances is presented. The control algorithm employs the recursive least square method for the parameter estimation and the generalised minimum variance criterion as the objective function. The computer simulation shows that the tracking of desired pH values is obtained in satisfactory manner regardless of the initial values chosen for the process.

$I{\lambda}$-최적실험계획의 특성에 대한 추가적인 연구

  • The characteristics of $I{\lambda}$-optimality are investigated with repsect to other experimental design's criteria, D-and G-optimality. The comparisons are based on D- and G-, and $I{\lambda}$-efficiencies using the Beta(p, q) distribution as a weighting function for $I{\lambda}$-optimality. Results indicate that serious consideration should be given to the $I{\lambda}$-optimality criterion especially when the error variance function is not homogeneous.

  • This paper deals with the finite wordlength effect on the performance of digital PID controllers. The finite wordlength, one of the major limitation factors in digital controllers, results on two kinds of quantization error : the signal quantization error and the coefficient quantization error. This paper derives the variance of the plant output due to the signal quantization error. Using stability margins as performance criterion, the statistical wordlength concept is adopted for coefficient wordlength selection. Finally, the experimental results exhibit satisfactory performance of the digital PID controller with statistical coefficient wordlength.

클래스 내 표준편차 기반의 문턱치 처리에 의한 영상분할 (Image Thresholding Based on Within-Class Standard Deviation)

  • 영상분할에 사용되는 문턱치 처리 방법들 중 Otsu 방법은 클래스 내 분산(within-class variance)을 이용하여 최적의 문턱치를 자동으로 추정한다. 이때, Otsu 방법은 각 클래스(class)의 통계적 분포를 표현함에 있어 분산을 사용하며, 이러한 분산은 평균으로부터 해당 자료까지의 거리 제곱으로 표현된다. 그 결과, Otsu 방법의 최적 문턱치는 분산의 크기에 큰 영향을 받으며, 분산들 중 크기가 큰 쪽으로 편향되는 문제점을 보인다. 이에 본 논문은 분산을 표준편차로 변경함으로써 이러한 현상을 감소시켰으며, 보다 정확한 문턱치를 추정할 수 있었다. 본 논문은 기존의 클래스 분산(class variance)을 클래스 표준편차(class standard deviation)로 대체하였으며, 문턱치 선택 기준으로서 클래스 내 표준편차(within-class standard deviation)을 제안하였다. 타당성을 검증하기 위해 두 개의 정규분포 히스토그램(histogram) 및 음영이 있는 영상들에 대해 모의실험을 수행하였으며, 제안된 방법을 Otsu 방법 및 기존의 방법들과 비교하였다. 또한, 객관적 성능평가(Misclassification Error)를 통해 제안된 방법의 우수성을 확인하였다.

  • The weak classifier of AdaBoost algorithm is a central classification element that uses a single criterion separating positive and negative learning candidates. Finding the best criterion to separate two feature distributions influences learning capacity of the algorithm. A common way to classify the distributions is to use the mean value of the features. However, positive and negative distributions of Haar-like feature as an image descriptor are hard to classify by a single threshold. The poor classification ability of the single threshold also increases the number of boosting operations, and finally results in a poor classifier. This paper proposes a weak classifier that uses multiple criterions by adding a probabilistic criterion of the positive candidate distribution with the conventional mean classifier: the positive distribution has low variation and the values are closer to the mean while the negative distribution has large variation and values are widely spread. The difference in the variance for the positive and negative distributions is used as an additional criterion. In the learning procedure, we use a new classifier that provides a better classifier between them by selective switching between the mean and standard deviation. We call this new type of combined classifier the "Mixed Weak Classifier". The proposed weak classifier is more robust than the mean classifier alone and decreases the number of boosting operations to be converged.

통계 분석을 통한 산사태 토석류 전이규준 모델 (A Statistical Mobilization Criterion for Debris-flow)

  • 최근 들어 집중호우로 인한 산사태 및 토석류 피해가 종종 발생하고 있다. 이에 따라 산사태 재해 예측에 관한 연구 중 산사태 민감도 분석과 토석류 위험도 분석 관련 연구는 활발하게 진행되어 왔지만, 사면 지역에 적용하기 적합한 전이 분석 관련 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 판별분석과 로지스틱 회귀 분석과 같은 통계적 방법을 이용하여 실제 토석류가 발생했던 지역에서 추출한 지형학적 인자, 지질학적 인자 등을 토대로 토석류 전이규준을 제시하였다. 10개의 지형학적 및 지질학적 인자가 독립변수로 사용되었으며 실제 466개소(비전이: 228개소, 전이: 238개소)의 토석류 비전이 및 전이 데이터가 수집되었다. 우선, Fisher의 판별 분석이 수행되었으며, 수행 결과 실제경우와 91.6%의 분류 정확도를 보였다. 하지만 전이와 비전이 두 그룹간의 공분산 동질성이 만족되지 않았으며 또한 독립변수들이 정규분포를 보이지도 않았다. 두 번째로 이항 로지스틱 회귀분석이 수행되었으며, 분석 결과 92.3%의 분류 정확도를 나타냈으며 모든 통계적 조건들도 유의하게 나타났다. 따라서 이항 로지스틱 회귀 분석을 이용한 전이 규준은 토석류 재해 발생 여부를 예측하는데 효과적으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

A Study on Factor Analytical Methods and Procedures for PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling)

  • Purpose - This study provides appropriate procedures for EFA to help researchers conduct empirical studies by using PLS-SEM. Research design, data, and methodology - This study addresses the absolute and relative sample size criteria, sampling adequacy, factor extraction models, factor rotation methods, the criterion for the number of factors to retain, interpretation of results, and reporting information. Results - The factor analysis procedure for PLS-SEM consists of the following five stages. First, it is important to look at whether both the Bartlett test of sphericity and the KMO MSA meet the qualitative criteria. Second, PAF is a better choice of methodology. Third, an oblique technique is a suitable method for PLS-SEM. Fourth, a combined approach is strongly recommended to factor retention. PA should be used at the onset. Next, it is recommended using the K1 criterion. In addition, it is necessary to extract factors that increase the total variance explanatory power through the PVA-FS. Finally, it is appropriate to select an item with a factor loading into 0.5 or higher and a communality of 0.5. Conclusions - It is expected that the accurate factor analysis processed for PLS-SEM as previously presented will help us extract more precise factors of the structural model.

노인의 삶의 의미 측정 도구 개발 (Development of the Meaning in Life Scale for Older Adults)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and test the psychometric properties of the newly developed instrument, Meaning in Life, for elderly Korean people. Methods: Ten older adults participated in the qualitative research used to develop the initial items. Participants for the psychometric testing were 371 community-dwelling older adults. Validity and reliability analyses included content, construct, and criterion-related validities, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability. Results: The Meaning in Life Scale consisted of 12 items with three distinct factors; value of life, source of life, and will to live, which explained 86.7% of the total variance. A three-factor structure was validated by confirmatory factor analysis. Criterion-related validity was supported by comparison with the Purpose in Life Test (r=.74). Reliabilities were secured with test-retest reliability of Intra-class Correlation Coefficient (ICC) .85 and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient .90. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that this instrument is useful to measure meaning in life in Korean elders.

간호사가 지각하는 직장 내 괴롭힘 측정도구 개발 (Development and Validity of Workplace Bullying in Nursing-Type Inventory (WPBN-TI))

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument to assess bullying of nurses, and test the validity and reliability of the instrument. Methods: The initial thirty items of WPBN-TI were identified through a review of the literature on types bullying related to nursing and in-depth interviews with 14 nurses who experienced bullying at work. Sixteen items were developed through 2 content validity tests by 9 experts and 10 nurses. The final WPBN-TI instrument was evaluated by 458 nurses from five general hospitals in the Incheon metropolitan area. SPSS 18.0 program was used to assess the instrument based on internal consistency reliability, construct validity, and criterion validity. Results: WPBN-TI consisted of 16 items with three distinct factors (verbal and nonverbal bullying, work-related bullying, and external threats), which explained 60.3% of the total variance. The convergent validity and determinant validity for WPBN-TI were 100.0%, 89.7%, respectively. Known-groups validity of WPBN-TI was proven through the mean difference between subjective perception of bullying. The satisfied criterion validity for WPBN-TI was more than .70. The reliability of WPBN-TI was Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ of .91. Conclusions: WPBN-TI with high validity and reliability is suitable to determine types of bullying in nursing workplace.

예비수학교사의 교직 적성·인성 검사에서 분할점수 변화에 따른 다양한 신뢰도 탐색 (Investigation of Various Reliability Indices of Pre-service Mathematics Teachers' Teaching Aptitude and Personality Test based on Setting Cut Scores)

  • The purpose of this study is first to examine the relative influence of each error source and to investigate the optimal measurement conditions to ensure satisfactory multiple reliability coefficients based on the teaching aptitude and personality test for pre-service teachers. Participants were 33 students enrolled in mathematics education in a graduate school of education located in the Seoul metropolitan area from 2013 to 2017. The main results were as follows. First, the estimated variance due to residual was highest, followed by nesting of items within domains, graduate students, interactions of graduate students with domains, and domains. Second, total 96 items, with 12 domains containing 8 items in each domain, with cut score of 598, and original 210 items, with 14 domains containing 15 items in each domain, with cut scores of 615 or 716 were optimal measurement conditions to reach acceptable reliability levels based on the joint consideration of dependability coefficients, cut score dependability coefficients, adjusted dependability coefficients, and standard errors of measurement. Third, larger deviations between the arithmetic mean and the cut score indicated higher reliability coefficients of the test results. Finally, this study suggests ways for practitioners to consider how to apply generalizability theory for criterion-referenced tests and how to develop future research based on limitations.
