Position Control of Brushless Servo Motor using Variable Structure System (가변구조 시스템을 이용한 브러시리스 서보모터의 위치제어)

  • Variable Structure System(VSS) la being extended to a new control system of ac servo machines for its merits of simple mechanism and robustness. This paper has studied about applying VSS to position control for brushless servo motor. But VSS has the chattering problem of control input. This chattering phenomenon cause acoustic noises, torque ripple and increase harmonics of the current. One of the useful way to eliminate this defect of VSS, linearlizing the switching function is discussed here. Though the conventional method of linearizing the switching function diminishes the chattering, it may degrade the robustness of the system. In this paper, new linearized switching function which shows robust performance to the parametric variation and reduces chattering simultaneously is introduced and assured by simulation.

  • The idea of expert control is to incoporate a rule based expert system in a feedback control system. In this paper, we present some heuristic rules about input requlation and supervision and turning for D.C servo motor speed control in variable. The expert auto-turning PID controller which heuristic rules are used as an element of the feedback control system is implemented with the numerical algorithms and heuristic logics. The accurate control function is confirmed by computer simulation.

  • In this paper, an advanced PWM modulation strategy for driving a variable-speed induction motor is introduced. According to this method, the technique of efficiently eliminating harmonics component is achived. A switching pattern was computed making use of the near-proportionality of voltage and frequency in AC machines operating with constant flux. At low magnitudes and low frequencies of the foundamental, many more harmonics are eliminated than at high magnitudes and frequencies. In order to keep the inverter switching frequency constant over the output frequency range, chopping times diminishes as the frequency of the fundamental increases.

  • According to the operating characteristics of pump applications, they should exhibit high efficiency and energy saving capabilities throughout the whole operating process. A novel efficiency optimization control strategy is presented here to meet the high efficiency demand of a variable speed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). The core of this strategy is the excellent integration of mended maximum torque to the current control algorithm, based on the losses model during the dynamic and the grade search method with changed step by fuzzy logic during the steady. The performance experiments for the control system of a variable speed high efficiency PMSM have been completed. The test results verified that the system can reliably operate with a different control strategy during dynamic and steady operation, and the system exhibits better performance when using the efficiency-optimization control.

  • The Variable Structure System(VSS) will be of much intrest to educators and design engineers who wish to demonstrate and investigate sophisticated position control methods and their applications. This paper describes DC motor position control by means of VSS concept. The control scheme is derived, implemented and tested in the laboratory where IBM AT computer has been used as a digital controller to control a representative servo system. The control system schematic is given and sample results are shown for illustration. This experiment may serve as a basis for further application of VSS.

  • Constant slip frequency control has been conventionally used in thrust control of the linear induction motor(LIM) for magnetically levitated train. However in this paper variable slip frequency control method is presented to increase LIM efficiency according to change of driving notch. Thrust, attractive force, input power to inverter, regenerative power of the LIM are analyzed by finite element method when the train runs according to the presented control method. As a result it is proved experimentally that the electrical energy to inverter is reduced than the conventional method.

  • Using sensors to detect current or voltage of motors is disadvantaged because motor is exposed to vibration, impacts, corrosion, high temperature and humidity in the machinery structure like HEV. In the case of IPMSM, position information is included not only in the flux or EMF term but also in the rotator inductance because of its saliency. To solve this problem, a new mathematical model of IPMSMs on fixed frame is proposed and an extended EMF includiing rotating position information is defined to estimate extended EMF. A strong low-pass filter through the variable cut-off frequency using velocity function was proposed. This makes it is possible to estimate extended EMF by least order disturbance observer. The proposed method was proved through the experiment.

  • In this paper, a wind power simulator is designed and implemented. To realize the torque of wind blade, a DC motor is used as a variable torque input device. An induction machine is used as a generator of which speed is controlled to maintain the optimal tip speed ratio during wind speed change. Input torque of system is controlled by armature current of DC motor and speed is controlled by generator control unit using field oriented control algorithm. Various control algorithms such as MPPT, soft start up, the simulator reactive power control, can be developed and tested using the simulator.

  • This paper describes a simple but effective method for energy saving of ac motors having a widely variable load. The proposed method is based on an optimal efficiency control which is operated by voltage-current pattern such as to maintain the maximum efficiency on the efficiency-output characteristics of the motor, in voltage control with triac. In this paper, authors present the experimental results of the SPIM under controlling of current of main and auxiliary winding by using a one chip microcontroller. Experiments are focused on a capacitor stating single phase induction motor the optimal energy saving are proved by the proposed method.

  • The application of Variable Structure System (VSS) to the position control of a Permanent Magnet Synchronus Motor is discussed. VSS is expected to be a powerful and potential tool to construct new control strategy for ac machines, since the resulting system shows robust performance to parametic variations and disturbances. An adaptive VSS which can make corrections or adjustments in the parameters of the control device of the VSS in accordance with the current values of the plant parameters and the constraints on the control is preposed. Various simulation results are reported to show the validity of the proposed control method.
