The effect of a variant drain orifice damping on the characteristics of a servovalve flapper-nozzle stage is analyzed. Steady-state characteristics of flapper-nozzle stage and the linearized dynamics of flapper-nozzle assembly with a spool valve show that the variant drain orifice damping could improve such null performance characteristics as null pressure sensitivity and linearity of gain function. Generalized design criterion and a sufficient condition for servovalve stability are also established.
HILS(Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation) is a scheme that incorporates hardware components of primary concern in the numerical simulation environment. Due to its advantages over actual vehicle test and pure simulation, HILS is being widely accepted in automotive industries as test benches for vehicle control units. Developed in this study is a HILS system for EHB(Electro-Hydraulic Brake) systems that include a high pressure generator and a valve control system that independently modulates the brake pressures at four wheels. An EHB control logic was tested in the HILS system. Test results under various driving conditions are presented and compared with the VDC logic.
The new controller developed here, which is the facility with only one measurement, is a new concept for the level controller of the existing nuclear steam generator. A MACS (Microcomputer-based Adaptive Control System of a Steam Generator) is quite practical and efficient, and has also simple structure and higher flexibility in the installment for actual plant. A key ingredient of this system is adaptive regulator which can calculate adaptive, optimal valve position in response to changes in the dynamics of the process and the disturbances. In spite of many difficulties in the steam generator water level control at low power, it can be concluded from the experimental and simulation results, that the MACS can provide optimal, robust steam generator level control from zero to full power. The amount of the control input effort can be reduced by adjusting the weighting factor. However, the steady state water level errors are generated. To avoid the steady errors, the different adaptive algorithm should be investigated in the future. The 3 second sampling time is acceptable for this system. However, action should be taken to shorten the sampling time for better digital control.
In this paper, an antilock brake system (ABS) for commercial vehicles is studied by considering the design of a fuzzy Logic controller with pulse width modulation (PWM). PWM method is used for generating solenoid valve inputs in order to cope with the chattering problem caused by the conventional on/off control The sliding mode observer is designed to estimate the vehicle longitudinal velocity and it is used to calculate the wheel slip ratio. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm was validated by simulations performed with a nonlinear 14-DOF vehicle model including the dynamics of the brakes.
In this paper, a mathematical vehicle model, the braking force control parameters, the wheel control logic, and vehicle control strategy are presented, in order to analyze the dynamic characteristics of a vehicle equipped with ABS(Antilock Brake System). The full vehicle dynamics model is constructed with sprung mass, brake system, and wheels to verify control algorithms. The valve control algorithms are designed with the wheel accelerations and slip ratio take into consideration. Theses algorithms are applied to the front and rear wheels independently. Simulation is performed under the wet road condition at initial braking speed of 60 [km/h].
In this study, a modeling method of power-assisted steering systems and driver models for vehicle dynamic analysis using AUTODYN7 is presented. Pressure-flow relations of flow control valve are derived, and the equations of motion of a steering gear are obtained. Combining pressure-flow relations and equations of motion, the steering force can be represented as a function of steering wheel angle or torque. Driver model was modeled based on a PID controller and forward target method. With the steering systems and driver model, various driving tests are conducted using AUTODYN7.
The present study describes an investigation into the characteristics of combustion oscillation and its suppression instability of a silo type gas turbine combustor in commercial power plant. Combustion oscillation is occurred the combustor in near full load during operation. As a result of FFT analysis of the combustion dynamics, the frequency of the oscillation is analyzed as the 1'st longitudinal mode of acoustic resonance of the combustor. For suppress of the instability, combustion tuning with adjust of fuel valve schedule is carried out, which changes equivalent ratio of each burners. As the result, the oscillation is successfully reduced with meeting the level of NOx emission regulation.
In this paper, an adaptive control problem of a hydraulic actuator for vehicle active suspension controller is divided into two parts: the inner loop controller and the outer loop controller. Inner loop controller, which is a nonlinear adaptive controller, is designed to control the force generated by the nonlinear hydraulic actuator acting under the effects of Coulomb friction. For simplicity of designing a nonlinear controller, the spool valve dynamics of a hydraulic actuator is reduced using a singular perturbation technique. The estimation error signal used to an indirect parameter adaptation is calculated without a regressor filtering. The absolute velocity of a sprung mass will be damped down by its negatively proportional term(sky-hook damper) adopted as an outer loop controller. Simulation results are presented to show the importance of controlling the actuator force and the validity of the proposed adaptive controller. (author). refs., figs. tab.
