  • To quantify a mental workload for office workers, nine element tasks were classified for office work. There were oral comprehension, written comprehension, oral expression, written expression, calculation, memorization, thinking, and classification materials. Among nine element tasks, oral comprehension, written comprehension, written expression, and thinking were selected and the degrees of conflicts between concurrently performed element tasks were measured and analyzed through the experiment. The measures were performance and subjective rating. The results were as follows. The written comprehension- written expression pair was showed the highest conflict value in terms of performance and subjective rating. The written comprehension-thinking pair was the lowest conflict value in terms of performance, while the oral comprehension-thinking pair was the lowest condlict value in terms of performance, while the oral comprehension- written expression pair was the lowest conflict value in terms of subjective rating. The findings are expected to be used for assessing workload for the office work.

  • In order to evaluate the effectiveness of management measures and to provide policy suggestions for the allocation of total allowable catch between recreational and commercial sectors, the economic value of red grouper recreational fishery in the United States Gulf of Mexico was estimated using a Travel Cost Method(TCM), Due to the characteristic of count data, a Poisson model(PM) and a Negative binomial model(NBM) were used in the TCM. Results of models showed that the NBM was statistically more suitable than the PM since the overdispersion problem occurred in the PM. Results also indicated all signs of the estimated parameters were as expected and were significant, except for a Boat parameter in both models. Based on the results of NBM, the total economic value of the recreational red grouper fishery was estimated to be $\$698.6$ and the value per trip was $\$179.5$. In addition, the total changes in expected consumer surplus due to changes in catch rates was $ \$42.3$.

  • This paper is a study on a model of economic value of transmission speed of Internet Commerce. For this research, this paper searches the factors that influence the transmission speed of Internet and suggests the model for measurement of economic value. The model adopted in this research is CVM(contingent valuation method) using in environment economics and the research area in this paper is concentrated on Internet-based Electronic Commerce. For this purpose, this paper suggests econometrics model that measures customer's payment intention for transmission speed of Internet. This model can be used as the basic tool of feasibility of investment analysis and reasonable pricing on Internet service. For the more, it will be followed empirical study and more careful comprehension for objective validity of this study.

  • The Debreu-Gale-Nikaido theorem [2] is a potential tool to prove the existence of a market equilibrium price. Walras' law is of a quantitative nature (i.e. it measures the value of the total excess demand), and it is interesting to note that the existence result holds true under some qualitative assumptions. In fact, the Debreu-Gale-Nikaido theorem states that the continuity of the excess demand function and Walras' law has the following implication : For some price and corresponding value of the excess demand function, it is not possible to respond with a new price system such that the value at the new price of every element in the value of the demand function associated with the old price system is strictly positive.

  • During the last decade many enterprises spent a huge amount of money for investment on Information Technology (IT) & Information System (IS) to attain competitive advantage and to maximize their business performance by satisfying the various requirements of customers. Under such circumstances, methodologies for evaluating IT impact on business performance are very important issues for strategic decision making on investment. In this study, we propose a performance evaluation model that adopts the concept of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and the Value Chain to analyze the financial impact and non-financial impact of IT & IS at each critical work area. This model combines the 4 evaluation areas from BSC and 6 critical work areas from Value Chain and measures the Key Performance Indicator (HPI) and the effect of KPI. Also, we present a case study of which the evaluation model has been conducted on a major manufacturing company. finally. we address some important notes to improve the IT & IS performances in the real-world.

  • The aim of this study is to assess the social value of Ham-Pyung Butterfly Festival in the year of 2011. The tool for the assesment is the zonal travel cost method. The result of the study can be summed up as follows; First, the average individual consumer's surplus measures approximately from 29,700 to 30,100 Won. Second, the total consumer's surplus, that is the social value of the festival, ranges approximately from 7.6 to 7.7 billion Won. The most beneficiary of the event is turned up to be the people who are living in the outside of Ham-Pyung and go on a tour there. For that reason, the central government looks to have the obligation to support and to sponsor the festival.

  • The present study aims to examine the impact of real earnings management on the future value of the firm and its persistence. The study also tests suspect firm effects on the relationship between real earnings management and the future value of the firm. The sample of the present study consists of all listed non-financial firms from the year 2011 to 2018. Real earnings management has been measured in three alternative ways viz., abnormal operating cash flows, abnormal discretionary spending, and abnormal production cost. Tobin's Q is used as a measure of firm value. The interaction term of real earnings management and Tobin's Q is used to test firm value persistence. The results of the analysis disclose that out of three measures of real earnings management, abnormal reduction in discretionary spending only has a significant negative impact on the persistence of firm value. Moreover, the suspect firm analysis reveals that when the underlying motive of real earnings management is to meet zero earnings, both abnormal increases in operating cash flows and abnormal reduction in discretionary spending have a significant negative impact on firm value persistence.

  • This study verifies whether the sustainable tax strategy provides unique information on earnings persistence and brings about the difference of value relevance of accounting information. Sustainability is measured by the 5-year coefficient of variation in cash ETR, such as in McGuire et al.(2013), which measures variability in long-term performance of tax avoidance. The value relevance of accounting information in this study is modified by the Ohlson model(1995), which explains the value of the firm by using accounting information such as net assets and net income and other non-accounting information. The samples of this study are the firms listed on the securities market from 2004 to 2015 and the final samples are 3,133 firm-year. The results of this empirical analysis show that the value relevance of accounting information increases as firms have long-term and sustainable tax strategies. Most of the prior studies on tax strategies have examined the tax minimization strategy that minimizes the tax cost. However, this study is different in that the sustainability of the tax strategy affects the value relevance of accounting information. The results of this study will be useful for the users to make decision using the value relevance of accounting information.

  • This study aims to analyze the impact of the company's financial performance in mediating the relationship between Intellectual Capital and GCG on Corporate Value in banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Also, this study analyzes the direct effect of intellectual capital and GCG on corporate value and the indirect effect through the company's financial performance. This study develops research of Chen et al. (2005) and measures Intellectual Capital with VAIC (Pulic, 1998). VAIC model is more accurate to measure Intellectual Capital because it can show potential intellectual use efficiently. The data used are banking companies listed on the IDX in 2014-2016 with purposive sampling technique and Data Analysis Technique used are path analysis. The results showed that the financial performance of banking companies was proven to mediate the relationship between intellectual capital and GCG. The role of GCG that can improve financial performance and corporate value is only GCG as measured by the ratio of independent commissioners and audit quality. Meanwhile, the financial performance and corporate value audited by the Big 4 will be greater than the financial performance and corporate value of the banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange that are not audited by the Big 4.

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of the composition of the board and ownership structure on a firm's value in Jordanian firms. Specifically, it aims to determine the effect of board size, (CEO) duality, and family, foreign, institutional, and government ownership on a firm's value. An ordinary least square regression (OLS) was employed to examine the study hypotheses in a sample of 35 Jordanian industrial firms (175 firm-year observation) for a period of five years from 2016-2020. As measured by Tobin's Q (Q ratio) and market-to-book (MB ratio) for Jordanian industrial firms listed on Amman Stock Exchange (ASE). The result found that foreign ownership, institutional ownership, and family ownership have a significant and positive effect on firm value. By contrast, government ownership does not have a significant effect on firm value. With respect to board composition (CEO duality and board size), the study results found no evidence to support the effect of board composition on firm value. The study recommended the concerned authorities with several recommendations, most notably: taking the necessary measures to ensure the continuity and growth of family businesses because of their positive impact on the value of the company and economic growth, spreading awareness about how governance protects the interests of investors.
