  • This study aims at integrating economic tools and remote sensing for environmental impact valuation of the Isahaya Bay Wetland (IBW). In doing so, we have used potential behavioral economic valuation technique: contingent valuation method and satellite remote sensing technique: land cover mapping. From the results of the study, we are able to bracket a range of values from (22 to 200 billion yen) for arriving at the true economic value lost due to the initiation of reclamation project on the IBW and would provide a new dimension to get nearer to the more accurate environmental impact assessment.

  • The future will see all industries become technology-driven in the competitive global market place. Firms with deep technological roots and innovation strategies have some advantages. Business valuation of technology is critical to the future of firm's business. In this situation widely used scoring valuation is not enough to evaluate relative business competitiveness associated with technology and to assign its relative ranking category. Therefore, a more useful and comprehensive new valuation approach, which is called business composite index, is needed to complement and to enhance the existing scoring valuation approach. In this research, statistical factor analysis is applied to determine the common factors and to estimate associated weights. And business composite index, which is a kind of weighted scoring method, is derived based on the results of factor analysis. This research shows that business composite index is considered very useful to measure the business relative strength of individual technology and also to assign its relative ranking category instead of absolute ranking based on scoring valuation approach.

  • This study was to investigate categories of valuation and make the standard on developing valuation of natural dyes by Delphi method. The three-round Delphi tests were performed with 36 professional in the academic, the industrial, and the art field.'Dyeability property' meant levelling, adsorption, color diversity with mordant, color stability, 'marketability', possibility of mass production, economical efficiency, functionality, demand and supply of natural dyes, 'color', yield, beautiful color, value of color and 'color fastness', washing, perspiration and light fastness. Indigo, persimmon, cochineal, safflower and onion in dyeability property were evaluated highly, functional natural dyes in marketability, red and purple color ones except indigo in color and ones containing tannin in color fastness.

  • In the knowledge-based economy, technology valuation of patents, brand name, know-how is presented for as key subject of intangible assets management science. This paper reviews the methods of technology valuation that have been developed by valuation specialists. Also, is talking about the practical application by income approach (DCF) method.   • A company's market value-added, which equals the excess of a company's market capitalization over it s book value, is used as one of the measures for intangible assets valuation in accounting literature. One problem with the approach is that the valuation results are affected by severe fluctuations in capital markets. In this paper, we propose an approach using the Kalman filter for intangible assets valuation. We apply this method to data of Korean electronic companies.

  • The purpose of computing economic depreciation value is to find valuation of assets closely in line with market prices. The valuation of industrial assets are called Engineering Valuation. The two representative techniques for such valuation are Hulten-Wykoff Method, which estimates real value using regression equations, and T-factor Method devised at Iowa State University. The two are all empirical methods for computing service life (duration period). In this paper, we derived the service life by empirical methods using national wealth statistics, and also by more conventional methods such as original group method and retirement method. The results from each method are compared with one another. We also computed economic service life from these results. In S. Korea where amount of asset value statistics is still insufficient, the most effective method for empirically computing economic service life turns out to be the one using national wealth statistics. In addition, we also present economic relationship between depreciation value computed by using Hulten-Wykoff Method and depreciation value computed by using T-factor Method.

  • This paper analyzes the role of technology valuation in licensing, a commonly used type of transaction of technology, and reviews methods to analyze information on technology valuation for technology licensing. It contemplates the concepts, types and practical application of cost-based valuation, market-based valuation, discounted cash flow, and economic analysis. It shows that each method considers how to share profits associated with technology between licensor and licensee in a fair and reasonable manner when we apply any method to technology licensing.

  • With the increasing concern about natural resources that is being devastated and lost its reproductivity, Non-use value of resources for future use is considered more important than the present use value in the resource valuation. This study aims to measure Total Non-use value in Namsan Park, Kwanak and Paldal Mountain with CVM(Contingent Valuation Method). CVM is the method which can evaluate Non-use value of tourism resource to find the future value of the given resource. This study is carried on the assumption that respondents give answers not to real situation but to imaginary circumstances. After analysing benefit value by estimating conservation value and separate use value, we can conclude that conservation value of tourism resource is given much weight.

  • Due to explosive expansion in R & D efforts for advancement of technological predominance by Enterprises, the volume of technical information rapidly increases and emphasize on the valuation of this information has grown ever increasingly important. Therefore the requirement for systematic management and safeguard and accumulation of these intellectual properties of the Enterprise is in very high demand. A lot of effort and research has been carried out and many on going studies in progress to try to derive the optimum solution on how to manage information retention policy, processes, execution method, and hardware to execute the information with and etc. The intent of this thesis is to recommend a way for the Enterprise on how to evaluate the valuation of the data and to suggest the method on how to manage these intellectual properties by way of using Information Lifecycle Management theory which manages data according to the business valuation of the data. The decision on valuation of data and retention cycle is based on analytic method of a nonparametric regression, experimentation was carried out by applying to Enterprise Document Management System to present the suitable retention cycle according to the valuation and variety of attribute of data.

Estimating the Economic Valuation of Rural Environmental Improvement Using Contingent Valuation Method (CVM에 의한 농촌환경개선사업의 경제적 가치평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the economic valuation of rural waste disposal facilities that are one of the rural environmental improvement projects using contingent valuation method(CVM) in Gyongsangbuk-do, Korea. This study surveyed 1,089 households about the WTP(Willing To Pay) of rural waste disposal facilities policy in Gyongsangbuk-do and it was composed with city level and town level. The overall results show that the respondents well accepted the contingent market and would be willing to pay(WTP) a significant amount for the proposed policy program of rural waste disposal facilities. The values estimated for the rural waste disposal facilities are as follows : 1. The maximum WTP was \10,466 in City level and it was \9,104 in town level by per year. 2. The mean WTP was \9,257 in City revel and it was \8,636 in town lever by per year. 3. Total economic benefits for the household amounted to \7,989,046,270 per year. This result can be used to useful base data fir the policy programs of rural waste disposal facilities.
