  • A mathematical model describing the relationship between longitudinal tension and tangential velocity of web/roller in a multi-span web transport system has been developed. An experiment was carried out for typical conditions to validate the mathematical model for tension behavior in a multispan system. A two-span prototype prototype web transport system with winder and unwinder was manufactured for the experiment. By comparing simulation and experimental results, the mathematical model for tension and velocity in a multi-span web transport system is confirmed to be valid for typical conditions. Tension transfer phenomenon was also confirmed though the simulation as well as experimentation.

  • The effects of boundary conditions on natural frequencies for the ring stiffened composite cylindrical shells are investigated by theoretical method. The Love's thin shell theory and the discrete stiffener theory with beam functions in the Ritz procedure are used to derive the frequency equation. Five different boundary conditions such as clamped-clamped, simply supported-simply supported, free-free, clamped-free, clamped-simply supported are considered in this study. Also, the experimental investigation is presented to validate the theoretical results.

  • In this paper, a design tool using continuum design sensitivity analysis (DSA) method has been developed for noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). Design sensitivity is formulated, implemented numerically, and named SENS1. SENS1 can compute the design sensitivity using model and response files of MSC/NASTRAN of vehicle. A of real vehicle model is considered to validate SENS1. Numerical study shows SENS1 is a useful tool to improve NVH performances of vehicle body.

  • A model for the weight distribution of pellet sizes of carbon black products is proposed so that it may be utilized in establishing the product standard and a quality control scheme. The various grades of carbon black products from the Korea Steel Chemical Co., Ltd. are examined to validate the adequacy of the proposed model.

  • Guide path design is the most important factor in planning automated guided vehicle systems(AGVS) in manufacturing shop environments. This paper studies a heuristic procedure to design an optimal bi-directional guide path with the objective of the minimum total travel time of the vehicles. An example is solved to validate the procedure developed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce the concept of negative DEA, which aims at identifying worst performers by placing them on the efficient frontier, This paper also proposes to use a layering technique instead of the traditional cut-off point approach, since this enables incorporation of risk attitudes and risk-based pricing. The results of the empirical application on credit risk evaluation validate the method which is proposed in this paper.

  • This paper proposes a simple numerical method to simulate ductile failure behaviors. The method is based on finite element analysis with a simple damage theory. To validate the proposed method, simulated results are compared with experimental data. Despite its simplicity, the proposed method well predicts experimental results systematic analyses are also performed to investigate the effect of the element size.

  • Although numerous distributed database design models and solution algorithms have been developed, very few have been validated. Validation is critical to the successful application of such models to distributed database design. In this paper, we develop a simulation system for distributed database design. We then analyze and validate an average response time model using simulation. The simulation results demonstrate that the average response time model is reasonably accurate.

  • In this paper, we analyses of a traffic for authentication signaling in third generation mobile sensor network. In universal mobile telecommunication system, authentication functions are utilized to identify and authentication a mobile station and validate the service request network services. The authenticating parties are the authentication the serving general packet radio service support node access the authentication center to obtain the authentication with the mobile station. In this paper, we propose that the automatic cost-effective solution size of the authentication vector array.
