Objective : To evaluate the effectiveness and efficacy of delayed burr hole surgery in relation to the reduction of postoperative subdural hematoma (SDH) volume in patients with acute SDH. Methods : We retrospectively analyzed patients with acute SDH who received delayed burr hole surgery at our institute. Age, sex, Glasgow coma scale, maximal SDH thickness, volume of SDH, midline shifts, hounsfield unit (HU), and medical history of anticoagulant agent usage were recorded. Outcome measures were delayed operation day, reduction of SDH volume after operation, and the Glasgow outcome scale (GOS) score at discharge. The patients were divided two groups according to the postoperative reduction of volume of SDH (${\geq}50%$, group A; <50%, group B). We also analyzed variables and differences between two groups. Results : Eighteen patients were available for this analysis. The mean delayed of surgery was $13.9{\pm}7.5$ days. Maximal thickness of SDH was changed from $10.0{\pm}3.5mm$ to $12.2{\pm}3.7mm$. Volume of SDH was changed from $38.7{\pm}28.0mL$ to $42.6{\pm}29.6mL$. Midline shifts were changed from $5.8{\pm}3.3mm$ to $6.6{\pm}3.3mm$. HU were changed from $66.4{\pm}11.2$ to $53.2{\pm}20.6$. Post-operative reduction of SDH volume was $52.1{\pm}21.1%$. Eleven patients (61%) had a discharge GOS score of 1 (good recovery). Ten patients (56%) were enrolled in group A. Midline shifting was greater in group A than in group B ($7.4{\pm}3.3$ vs. $3.0{\pm}2.4mm$; p<0.02). The delay of surgery was shorter for group A than group B ($9.2{\pm}2.3$ vs. $19.8{\pm}7.7$ days; p<0.0008). Conclusion : Among well selected patients, delayed burr hole surgery in patients with acute SDH may be effective for reduction of SDH volume. Further studies will be necessary to establish the effectiveness and safety of delayed burr hole surgery in patients with acute SDH.

Electrochemical (EC) CO2 reduction is a promising method to convert CO2 into valuable hydrocarbon fuels and chemicals ecofriendly. Here, we report on a facile method to synthesize surface-controlled SnO2/Cu(OH)2 nanowires (NWs) and its EC reduction of CO2 to HCOOH and CO. The SnO2/Cu(OH)2 NWs (-16 mA/cm2) showed superior electrochemical performance compared to Cu(OH)2 NWs (-6 mA/cm2) at -1.0 V (vs. RHE). SnO2/Cu(OH)2 NWs showed the maximum Faradaic efficiency for conversion to HCOOH (58.01 %) and CO (29.72 %). The optimized catalyst exhibits a high C1 Faradaic efficiency stable electrolysis for 2 h in a KHCO3 electrolyte. This study facilitates the potential for the EC reduction of CO2 to chemical fuels.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess whether a deep learning (DL) algorithm could enable simultaneous noise reduction and edge sharpening in low-dose lumbar spine CT. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 52 patients (26 male and 26 female; median age, 60.5 years) who had undergone CT-guided lumbar bone biopsy between October 2015 and April 2020. Initial 100-mAs survey images and 50-mAs intraprocedural images were reconstructed by filtered back projection. Denoising was performed using a vendor-agnostic DL model (ClariCT.AITM, ClariPI) for the 50-mAS images, and the 50-mAs, denoised 50-mAs, and 100-mAs CT images were compared. Noise, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and edge rise distance (ERD) for image sharpness were measured. The data were summarized as the mean ± standard deviation for these parameters. Two musculoskeletal radiologists assessed the visibility of the normal anatomical structures. Results: Noise was lower in the denoised 50-mAs images (36.38 ± 7.03 Hounsfield unit [HU]) than the 50-mAs (93.33 ± 25.36 HU) and 100-mAs (63.33 ± 16.09 HU) images (p < 0.001). The SNRs for the images in descending order were as follows: denoised 50-mAs (1.46 ± 0.54), 100-mAs (0.99 ± 0.34), and 50-mAs (0.58 ± 0.18) images (p < 0.001). The denoised 50-mAs images had better edge sharpness than the 100-mAs images at the vertebral body (ERD; 0.94 ± 0.2 mm vs. 1.05 ± 0.24 mm, p = 0.036) and the psoas (ERD; 0.42 ± 0.09 mm vs. 0.50 ± 0.12 mm, p = 0.002). The denoised 50-mAs images significantly improved the visualization of the normal anatomical structures (p < 0.001). Conclusion: DL-based reconstruction may enable simultaneous noise reduction and improvement in image quality with the preservation of edge sharpness on low-dose lumbar spine CT. Investigations on further radiation dose reduction and the clinical applicability of this technique are warranted.
This study investigates Cu(II) complexes of cyclam, propylene cross-bridged cyclam (PCB-cyclam), and propylene cross-bridged cyclam diacetate (PCB-TE2A) as homogeneous electrocatalysts for CO2 reduction in comparison with Ni(II)-cyclam. It is found that Cu(II)-cyclam can catalyze CO2 reduction at the potential close to its thermodynamic value (0.75 V vs. Ag/AgCl) in tris-HCl buffer (pH 8.45) on a glassy carbon electrode. Cu(II)-cyclam, however, suffers from severe demetalation due to the insufficient stability of Cu(I)-cyclam. Cu(II)-PCB-cyclam and Cu(II)-PCB-TE2A are revealed to exhibit much less demetalation behavior, but poor CO2 reduction activities as well. The inferior electrocatalytic ability of Cu(II)-PCB-cyclam is ascribed to its redox potential that is too high for CO2 reduction, and that of Cu(II)-PCB-TE2A to the steric hindrance preventing facile contact with CO2 molecules. This study suggests that in addition to the redox potential and chemical stability, the stereochemical aspect has to be considered in designing efficient electrocatalysts for CO2 reduction.
The purpose of this research is empirically investigating organizational/managerial factors affecting BPR implementation between Korean and US companies. And we compared the critical success factors and business innovation performance of Korean companies to those of US companies based on the prior research. Seven variables that represent success of BPR implementation are identified. They are : (1) reduction of process time (2) reduction of process cost (3) upgraded skill or knowledge (4) improved quality of process output (5) improved quality of work life (6) responsiveness to customer need (7) overall perception of BPR success. The result showed that the performance of US companies is better than that of Korean companies. Especially level of overall perception of BPR success of US companies is more high than that of Korean companies. The reason is that business innovation of Korean companies is focused on functional unit and incremental improvement.
In this study, the mixture ratio included 20% (GLY 20), 40% (GLY 40), and 60% (GLY 60) based on VS with the control group (GLY 0) with no crude glycerin added. Maintaining stable pH, GLY 20 and GLY 0 showed the highest total output of biogas (1.24 L/L/d) and methane(0.78 L/L/d) as its volatile solids reduction rate was 53.56%. In case of GLY 40 and GLY 60, their pH was rapidly reduced after seven days of the study, so that their anaerobic digestion was all stopped. In the results of the study, it is desirable to add crude glycerin less than 20%, and it would be necessary to have the future researches on more detailed organic loading rate of each ratio, and analysis on economic feasibility.
We report a simple electrochemical approach in fabricating multiple colored molybdenum (Mo) oxide bronzes on the surface of a Mo-quartz electrode. A three step electrochemical batch process consisting of linear sweep voltammetry and anodic oxidation followed by cathodic reduction in neutral $K_2SO_4$ electrolyte at different end potentials, viz. -0.62, -0.80 and -1.60 V (vs. $Hg/HgSO_4$) yielded red, blue and yellow colored bronzes. The samples produced were analyzed by XRD, EDS, and SIMS. The color variation was suggested to be associated with the cations intercalation into the oxide formed and the simultaneous structural changes that occurred during the cathodic reduction in neutral aqueous medium.

Eu(III) exhibits one electron-transfer reduction at $E_{1/2}$ = -0.564 V(vs. Ag/AgCl) and the hypersensitive peak at 615 ㎚ corresponding to $^{5}D_{0}{\rightarrow}^{7}F_{2}$ transition in 0.1 M $LiClO_{4}$ aqueous solution. Upon the addition of 2,6-pyridine dicarboxylic acid(PDA) to the Eu(III) aqueous soultion, the reduction potential shifts negatively and the PDA, and the Eu(III)-PDA complex emits great fluorescence than free-Eu(III) ion at 615 nm. The results are interpreted in term of the electrochemical and spectrofluorometric studies.

Electrochemical studies of alkali metal cations $(Na^+, K^+, Rb^+, Cs^+)$ were performed in methanolic solutions of 18-crown-6 and tetrabutylammonium salts at dropping mercury electrodes (DME) and thin mercury film electrodes (TMFE). All the cations investigated were reduced reversibly at DME in the absence and presence of 18-crown-6, and in the latter the limiting currents were decreased and the reduction potentials shifted to the negative direction. The reduction potentials of the metal ions (0.2 mM) in the presence of the crown (10 mM) were - 2.14 $(Na^+)$, - 2.26 $(K^+)$, - 2.20 $(Rb^+) and - 2.14 $(Cs^+)$ V vs. SCE, respectively. The measured potentials were rationalized with ion recognition of the cations by the crown. Electroreduction at TMFE were highly irreversible. A new representation method of ion recognition is presented. In aqueous solutions, electroreduction of the alkali metal ions were characterized by adsorption.

This paper studies if the accuracies of mortality models (LC model vs. 4-parametric model) are aggravated if a mortality structure changes due to the impact of COVID-19. LC model (LCM) uses dimension reduction for fitting to the log mortality matrix so that the performance of the dimension reduction method may not be good when the matrix structure changes. On the other hand, 4-parametric factor model (4-PFM) is designed to use factors for fitting to log mortality data by age groups so that it would be less affected by the change of the mortality structure. In fact, the forecast accuracies of LCM are better than those of 4-PFM when life-tables are used whereas those of 4-PFM are better when the mortality structure changes. Thus this result shows that 4-PFM is more reliable in performance to the structural changes of the mortality. To support the accuracy changes of LCM the functional aspect is explained by computing eigenvalues produced by singular vector decomposition
