  • The purpose of this study was to investigate CTDI (computed tomography dose index at center) for various phantom shapes, sizes, and compositions by using GATE (geant4 application for tomographic emission) simulations. GATE simulations were performed for various phantom shapes (cylinder, elliptical, and hexagonal prism PMMA phantoms) and phantom compositions (water, PMMA, polyethylene, polyoxymethylene) with various diameters (1-50 cm) at various kVp and mAs levels. The $CTDI_{100center}$ values of cylinder, elliptical, and hexagonal prism phantom at 120 kVp, 200 mAs resulted in 11.1, 13.4, and 12.2 mGy, respectively. The volume is the same, but $CTDI_{100center}$ values are different depending on the type of phantom. The water, PMMA, and polyoxymethylene phantom $CTDI_{100center}$ values were relatively low as the material density increased. However, in the case of Polyethylene, the $CTDI_{100center}$ value was higher than that of PMMA at diameters exceeding 15 cm ($CTDI_{100center}$ : 35.0 mGy). And a diameter greater than 30 cm ($CTDI_{100center}$ : 17.7 mGy) showed more $CTDI_{100center}$ than Water. We have used limited phantoms to evaluate CT doses. In this study, $CTDI_{100center}$ values were estimated and simulated by GATE simulation according to the material and shape of the phantom. CT dosimetry can be estimated more accurately by using various materials and phantom shapes close to human body.

  • This study was performed to investigate physicochemical and textural characteristics, and antimicrobial effect for Listeria monocytogenes (LM) in low-fat functional sausages (LFFS) containing sodium lactate (SL) and potassium lactate (PL) during storage at 4℃ for 10 weeks. The LFFS treatments included CTL (Low-fat sausage control), TRT1 (SL 3.3%), TRT2 (SL 2.2% + PL 1.1%), TRT3 (SL 1.1% + PL 2.2%), TRT4 (PL 3.3%). Proximate composition for LFFS were 73.9∼75.2% moisture, 1∼2% fat and 15.5∼15.9% protein, and pH values ranged from 5.8 to 6.5. Expressible moisture (EM, %) and vacuum purge (VP, %) ranged from 22.9 to 33.0 and from 2.7 to 5.3, respectively. EM of CTL, TRT1 and TRT2 increased with increased storage time, however, no differences in VP were observed during storage time. Hunter color values (L, a, b) were not affected by the addition of SL and PL, and storage time (p>0.05). Most textural properties of LFFS were not affected by the addition of SL and PL, except for few cases, but those of CTL tended to increase with increased storage time. The addition of SL and PL into LFFS, alone or in combination, inhibited the microbial growth of inoculated LM during refrigerated storage, resulting in longer shelf-life than the control.

  • This study's purpose is improve image quality to keep accurate tube angle in order to recognize distortion degree conditions by patient's position or tube angle and to provide exact clinical informations when taking chest AP projection for patient which have L-tube in stomach. The experimental equipment was ELMO-T6S by SHIMADZU corporation, then we put L-tube which attached 1 mm gap scales ruler on chest phantom surface. The experiment set by 90 kVp, 4 mAs, 120 cm distance. Each phantom position which changed supine, 30degree, 45degree, 60degree on the table exposured direct, ${\pm}5degree$, ${\pm}10degree$, ${\pm}15degree$ to head and feet directions. As a result, L-tube tip's position was changed by patient's position and tube angle. When patient's position is supine, tip's position change was lower than 30degree, 45degree, 60degree. We have to adjust patient's position or tube angle in order to occur image distortion by fault tube angle when confirming correct position L-tube tip through chest x-ray. Also, Radiological technologist try to make accurate evaluation index for satisfied L-tube insertion.

  • Currently, there are many studies being conducted around the world to reduce exposure dose to radiation for patients to receive medical treatments in a safe environment. We developed and fabricated of this shield that the patients are protected from the radiation and are need of safety control during breast imaging. In this study, for breast imaging, GE Senography 2000D were used and set at SID 65cm, 28kVp, and 63mAs. The measuring instrument was Fluke's Victoreen 6000-529. And we performed Face Block on with 30 patients. The chamber on the actual thyroid glands to take CC and MLO and measure the dosage before and after wearing the Face Block. For the results, after wearing the Face Block, exposure was decreased by 53.8%-100% and 65.8% in average in CC View and by 50%-100% and 60.7% in average in MLO View. The development of the Face Block that practically decreased the exposure dose of thyroid glands, crystalline eyes during breast imaging and reduced the patients' anxiety during breast imaging. The Face Block is expected to improve patients' satisfaction and contribute to reducing patients' exposure dose, but more efforts should be made to reduce exposure dose to medical radiation.

  • Chest radiography has been typically performed at SID of 180 cm. Image quality and patient dose were investigated between 180 cm and 340 cm by 20 cm intervals at 120 kVp and 320 mAs with the AEC. VGA was performed for qualitative assessment and SNR was analysed for quantitative assessment on the image of the chest phantom. Patients dose was measured by ESAK and PCXMC was used for effective dose. As a result, when using the standard of SID of 180 cm which is typically used in the clinical practice, in the case of ESAK, 240 cm, 280 cm, and 320 cm were 8.7%, 11.47%, and 13.56% respectively therefore significant reduction was confirmed. In the case of effective dose, 2.89%, 4.67%, and 6.41% in the body and 5.08%, 6.09%, and 9.6% in lung were reduced. In the case of SNR, 9.04%, 8.24%, and 11.46% were respectively decreased especially, by 8.03% between SID of 260 cm and 300 cm, but SNR was 5.24 up to 340 cm. There were no significant differences in VGA thus the image is valuable in diagnosis. It is predicted that increasing SID up to 300 cm in digital chest radiography can reduce patient dose without decreasing image quality.

  • As the problem of shields made of lead has recently emerged, research on replacement shields is essential, and studies on the manufacture of diagnostic X-ray shields with 3D printers are also being actively conducted. Recently, with the development of metal mixed filaments, it has become possible to manufacture shielding materials easily, but studies on the nozzle size and output setting of 3D printers are insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to compare and analyze the results through a shielding rate experiment using a brass filament and a 3D printer, outputting the shield according to the nozzle size and layer height, and using a diagnostic radiation generator. The nozzle size was changed to 0.4, 0.8 mm, layer height 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 mm, and output. The shielding rate test was fixed at 40 mAs, and the shielding rate was analyzed by experimenting with 60, 80, and 100 kVp, respectively. As a result of the analysis, it was analyzed that the printing time could be reduced to 1/10 according to the nozzle size and the layer height, and the shielding rate could be increased by 1% or more.

  • This study aimed at investigating the validity of WHR (or waist-to-hip ratio) and Golden ratio as standards of physical attractiveness. Each of 60 male and 60 female college students were divided into two groups of 30. Using the 3D game program, each person in one group drew a physically attractive figure of the opposite sex while the other group drew a physically attractive figure of the same sex. Then, WHR and Golden ratio of the figures were measured and compared with the ideal WHR (.7 for women and .9 for men) and Golden ratio 1.618. It was found that WHR and Golden ratio for the physically attractive figures were lower than the ideal standards regardless of the participant's gender. That is, the participants preferred to men and women having curvaceous body shapes with a narrow waist and a wide pelvis. In most cases, Golden ratios measured in many ways were not correspondent to the ideal ratio, 1.618. In regards to BR (or Body Ratio), the legs and waist of the physically attractive figures were shorter relative to the Golden ratio and this was more salient for physically attractive man figures. Regarding the facial ratio measured by FR(or facial ratio) and FR_VP(or facial ratio_vertical point), the faces of figures made by participants, regardless of their sex, were shorter and wider compared to the Golden ratio. Further, the participants preferred baby-faced woman and masculine man figures. Finally, implications of the findings, limitations the of the present study, and the suggestions for future research were discussed.

The results were as follows ; 1. The importance percentage was high in the order of Eurya japonica, Rhus verniciflua, Chamaecyparis obtusa, Lindera erythrocarpa, Carpinus laxiflora, Styrax japonica, Viburnum dilatatum, Zanthoxylum piperitum and Smilax china among the vegetation of Chamaecyparis obtusa. Importance percentage of natural seedling of Chamaecyparis obtusa was high in lower story but gradually decreased in middle story. 2. The basal area of upper trees had a negative correlation with the density of natural seedlings in the middle and lower story, and it represents that the basal area of upper trees had some effect on the density of natural seedlings within understories. 3. The rate of the A and B class by Raunkiaer's frequency was higher in the vegetation of middle story than that of lower story. 4. By Morisita's index, the species of Chamaecyparis obtusa, Rhus verniciflua, Lindera erythrocarpa, Smilax china. Callicarpa japonica and Lindera obtusiloba were randomly distributed at lower story, but they were aggregatively distributed at middle story. At all of middle and lower story, Eurya japonica and Viburum dilatatum were randomly distributed, and Carpinus laxiflora, Zanthoxylum piperitum and Picrasma quassioides were aggregatively distributed. 5. The number of appearance species and the value of species diversity in western survey area were more than that of eastern survey area. 6. The value of species diversity at lower story was higher than that of middle story, and it represents that the number of individuals of appearance species was composed more even at lover story than middle story. 7. According to cluster analysis by similarity index, the survey areas were separated from inland and seacoast districts. 8. Judging from each stories ordination analysis by dissimilarity index, the vegetation was separated from lower and middle story, and the vegetation of lower story was more progressed succession stage than that of middle story. 9. In Chamaecyparis obtusa stands, Eurya japonica had a positive correlation with Sorbus alnifolia, Hex macropoda. Ficus erecta and Trachelospermum asiaticum, but it had a negative correlation with Zanthoxylum piperitum, Carpinus laxiflora and Parthenocissus tricuspidata. 10. In estimation of the productivity of Chamaecyparis obtusa stands, the value of SC (Conic surface) and VP (Parabolic volume) for upper trees was 94.5% and 99.63%, respectively and SC and VP of middle story was 5.49% and 0.37%, respectively. In the species of middle story, material productivity was high in order of Eurya japonica. Lindera eryhrocarpa, Rhus verniciflua. Carpinus laxiflora and Styrax japonica.

  • This study focused on effects of patient exposure dose reduction with AEC (Auto Exposure Control) marker that is designed for showing location of AEC in X-ray Chest radiography. It included 880 adults who have to use Chest X-ray Digital Radiography system (DRS, LISTEM, Korea). AEC (Ion chambers are posited in top of both sides) are used to every adult and set X-ray system as Field size $17{\times}17inch$, 120kVp, FFD 180cm. 440 people of control group are posited on detector to include both sides of lung field and the other 440 people of experimental group are set to contact their lung directly to Ion chamber (making marker to shows location). Then, measured every DAP and, estimated patient effective dose by using PCXMC 2.0. The average age of control group (M:F=245:195) is 53.9 and the average BMI is 23.4. BMI ranges from under weight: 35, normal range: 279, over weight: 106 to obese: 20 and average DAP is 223.56mGycm2, Mean effective dose is 0.045mSv. The average age of experimental group (M:F=197:243) is 53.7 and the average BMI is 22.7. BMI ranges from under weight: 34, normal range: 315, over weight: 85 to obese: 6 and average DAP is 207.36mGycm2, Mean effective dose is 0.041mSv. Experimental group shows less Mean effective dose as 0.004mSv (9.7%) than control group. Also, patient numbers who got over exposure more than 0.056mSv (limit point to know efficiency of AEC marker) is 65 in control group (14.7%), 19 in experimental group (4.3%) and take statistics with t-Test. The statistical difference between two groups is 0.006. In order to use proper amount of X-ray in auto exposure controlled chest X-ray system, matching location between ion chamber and body part is needed, and using AEC marker (designed for showing location of ion chamber) is a way to reduce unnecessary patient exposure dose.
