실내주차장의 실내공기질 농도특성 및 환기에 의한 저감효과 (The Effect of Ventilation and Concentration of Indoor Air Quality at Indoor Parking Lots)

  • Recently, indoor air quality (IAQ) has been one of the major concerns of people. Indoor parking lots are subject to be exposed to high concentrations of air pollutants emitted from vehicles. This study was performed to investigate indoor air quality (IAQ) at indoor parking lots. Sampling sites were selected 5 indoor parking lots. Target indoor air quality parameters include a number of criteria pollutants such PM$_{10}$, CO, CO$_2$, and HCHO. In addition, a variation of IAQ according to ventilation system operating was measured at C site (underground parking lot). In general, all pollutants were maintained below indoor air quality maintenance standards. The indoor air quality at indoor parking lots was affected by the availability of the ventilation facility and their operation frequency. At the underground parking lot (C site) with ventilation system, TVOC concentration according to ventilation system operating were found to be lower operating (488.2 ${\mu}g/m^3$) than non-operating (1,401.2 ${\mu}g/m^3$).

  • Although the clays were one of the major materials of building constructions, presently, its functions are lesser and the cements take its place as building materials. however, the IAQ problems such as $CO_2$ increase, Rn gas and VOCs occurrence should be imperative from production and construction processes of the cements. This study aims to develop the alternate clay compounds to cements and analyze its properties by experimental tests. For the study, the claymineral of Chungchong-bukdo 10 areas are used. The chemical and structural properties are experimentally analyzed and the pozzolan reaction possibilities of clays are executed.

  • Recently, people's rising interests toward a 'well-being' lifestyle together with research contributions are accelerating the concerns regarding indoor air pollution making indoor air quality management an emerging environmental challenge of the era. The Ministry of Environment began to regulate the air quality of railway stations last year. The newly established 'Indoor Air Quality Act' covers 17 facilities whereas only underground subway stations and underground markets were regulated by previous 'Underground Air Quality Management Act' of 1996. In this study, we carried out the measurement of temperature, relative humidity, CO(carbon monooxide), $CO_2$(carbon dioxide), HCHO(formaldehyde), PM-10(particulate matters), and VOCs(volatile organic compounds) in underground subway stations. Based on the obtained results, we will suggest a way to improve the indoor air quality of the subway stations.

다중이용시설의 실내공기질 실태조사 연구

  • 국내의 경우, 2004년 5월부터 시행예정인 다중이용시설 등의 실내공기질관리법에 따라서, 학교 등의 일부 건축물을 제외하고 신축공동주택 및 대부분의 거주용 공간에 대한 실내공기질관리법이 제정되었다. 이러한, 건축물 내에는 다양한 오염원(sources)과 휘발성유기화합물(VOCs), 포름알데히드(HCHO), 라돈(Radon), 석면(Asbestos), 일산화탄소(CO), 이산화탄소($CO_2$), 이산화질소(NO$_2$), 오존(O$_3$), 미세 먼지(PM10), 부유세균 등 유해오염물질(contaminants)이 존재하고 있다. 또한, 실내공기오염은 각 오염원에서의 유해오염물질 방산정도(emission rate)가 실내외 환경조건, 적용 건축자재의 종류 및 공법 , 환기설비의 특성 및 유형 등에 따라 큰 차이를 보이고 있으므로, 이에 대한 정확한 측정방법의 정립과 그에 따른 적절한 실태조사의 실시가 필요하다. 철도차량에서의 공기질 현황 및 PM10 오염원 분석 (Air Quality and PM10 Source Analysis on the Railway Vehicles)

  • Nowadays, concerns have much more growing regarding indoor air quality (IAQ) on the public transportation including railway vehicles. Last year Korea Ministry of Environment (ME) set new guideline for public transportation. In this study several factors were analyzed which may affect comfortableness of railway passenger cabin, and we monitored IAQ parameters (PM10, CO, $CO_2$, VOCs, temperature and humidity) to investigate the present pollution in passenger cabin. In general, the railway air quality was satisfactory. The PM10 and $CO_2$ level on all passenger cabin were below the new guideline level 1 for PM10 $(200{\mu}g/m^3)\;and\;CO_2(2,000ppm)$. Clustering method was carried out to classify the air polluting pattern of the cabin. As a result, the pollutants could be classified to 4 clusters and the origin of pollution is soil, diesel exhaust gas, abrasion of rail and plume.

울산광역시 초등학교 실내공기오염물질의 환경적 특성에 따른 농도 분석 (Analysis of Indoor Air Pollutants from Elementary School Classrooms with Different Environment in Ulsan, Korea)

  • This study analyzed indoor air pollutants from elementary school with different environment. Air sampling and measurement were carried out from classrooms and hallways from three target elementary schools in the fall and winter seasons. The winter average concentrations of $PM_{10}$, $CO_2$, CO, aldehydes and ketones, and benzene were higher than the fall ones. The fall average concentrations of $O_3$ and $NO_2$ were higher than the winter ones. The concentrations of $PM_{10}$ and $CO_2$ at the schools near the heavy traffic areas and having poor ventilation were higher than those from the other elementary school. The average concentration of CO at the school having heavy traffic volume was highest. The concentrations of $O_3$, $NO_2$, aldehydes and ketones, and VOCs at the school near the shipbuilding industries were highest among the three elementary schools.

밀폐공간 종류별 유해가스 발생 농도 평가 (Exposure Assessment of Hazardous gases in Confined Spaces)

  • Confined spaces are inherently dangerous workplace and many fatal and nonfatal accidents have been reported. Even though these accidents occur in various kinds of confined spaces, there has rarely been reported on the health hazard agent, i.e., the types of gases and their concentration ranges. Therefore in this study, we evaluated several toxic and asphyxiating gas concentrations in various confined spaces. We surveyed 57 manholes, 3 sewage treatment plants, 2 yellow radish manufacturing companies and 7 barges to measure the concentrations of oxygen($O_2$), hydrogen sulfide($H_2S$), carbon monoxide(CO), ammonia($NH_3$). Lower Explosion Limits(LEL) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Those four types of confined spaces occupies 56% of accidents during last 9 years in Korea. In 57 manholes, the concentration varied according to the types of manholes; rainfall and sewage, and by location; residential and industrial areas. Sewage manhole in industrial area was evaluated as the most hazardous than other types of manhole like rainfall manholes, residential sewage manholes. The highest $H_2S$ concentration and the lowest $O_2$ concentration at sewage manhole in industrial area were 300 ppm, 8.7% respectively. In 3 sewage treatment plants, $H_2S$ and $NH_3$ concentrations were reached up to the 500 ppm and 200 ppm respectively. Two yellow radish manufacturing companies showed the concentrations of 316 ppm, 505.2 ppm, 90 ppm and 15.7% for $H_2S$, CO, VOCs and $O_2$, respectively. Seven barges showed 15.9%~20.9% oxygen concentration. Gas species and concentration ranges varied by the types and location of confined spaces; CO, $H_2S$, $O_2$ could be hazardous in manhole, especially manhole connected to sewage plants. CO, $H_2S$, LEL, $O_2$, $NH_3$ should be controlled in sludge silo and sluge pumping confined spaces in sewage treatment plant. The activity of lifting out radish from the storage tank was evaluated more hazardous rather than the other activities in yellow radish manufacturing industry. The employers must conduct the survey to identify all possible confined spaces in their local workplace prior to performing the tasks. At the national level to reduce the accidents in the confined spaces, we suggest that systemic approach and active education program including possible hazards, standard operation procedures, ventilation plan, and personal protective equipment in confined spaces should be implemented.

산림지역 이산화탄소 및 자연적휘발성유기화합물의 교환량 관측기법 기초연구 (A Preliminary Flux Study for CO2 and Biogenic VOCs in a Forest)

  • The purpose of this study is to monitor the flux of $CO_2$ and BVOCs (biogenic volatile organic compounds) between the atmosphere and forest. The main research activities are conducted at Taehwa Research Forest (TRF), managed by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Seoul National University. The TRF site is located 60 km north-east from the center of Seoul Metropolitan Area. The TRF flux tower is in the middle of a Korean Pine (Pinus Koraiensis) plantation ($400m{\times}400m$), surrounded by a mixed forest. Eddy covariance method was used for $CO_2$ flux above the forest and REA (Relaxed eddy accumulation) method applying eddy covariance was used for BVOCs flux. BVOCs flux that was measured in spring (from May 16 to 18) had distribution of 84 to $2917{\mu}g/m^2{\cdot}h$. Especially, it showed that d-limonene being strong reactivity composed the largest fraction of monoterpene. Ambient $CO_2$ concentration measured in Mt. Taehwa was 399 ppm and observed $CO_2$ fluxes between the atmosphere and forest suggested that during the day, $CO_2$ is absorbed by plants through photosynthesis and released during the night.

연소식 $CO_2$ 발생기 사용시 온실 내 $CO_2$ 및 유해가스 농도 분석 (Analysis of $CO_2$ and Harmful Gases Caused by Using Burn-type $CO_2$ Generators in Greenhouses)

  • 연소식 $CO_2$ 발생기 사용시 사용하는 연료에 따라서 발생되는 $CO_2$ 농도 및 유해가스 농도를 비교 분석하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 사용 연료로는 등유, LPG, LNG를 이용하였다. 연소식 $CO_2$ 발생기는 등유사용 국내제품을 설치한 온실(A), 외국제품을 설치한 온실(B), LPG 사용 국내제품과 외국제품을 설치한 온실 2개소(C와 D) 및 LNG 사용 온실(E)을 선정하였다. 측정은 서울대학교 농생명과학공동기기원(NICEM)의 실내공기질 분석 시스템의 일부 측정시스템을 온실로 이동하여 측정하였다. 연소식 $CO_2$ 발생기 작동 유무에 따른 $CO_2$ 가스 증감은 $NO_x$류의 증감에 정의 상관을 보였으며, 사용 연식에 따른 버너의 내구성 저하에 따른 유해가스 발생량이 증가하였다. CO 농도가 매우 높게 나올 경우에는 발생기 내부에 컨버터를 장착하여 농도를 저감시켜 직물의 생리장해를 예방시킬 필요가 있었다. 전체적으로 $CO_2$ 발생에 따른 유해가스 농도는 최근 설치된 장치에서는 큰 문제가 없었으며 가장 낮은 유해가스 발생량은 국산 LPG 제품을 사용한 D 온실이었다.

하수슬러지 활성탄화로 개발 (Development of a Carbonization Activator)

  • 본 연구는 현재 크게 문제가 되고 있는 하수슬러지를 처리하고 흡착제로 재활용하기 위해 탄화와 수증기 활성화를 동시에 진행시켜 하수슬러지 흡착제를 제조하고 흡착특성을 파악하였다. 양질의 흡착제를 제조하기 위해 변수별 연구를 진행하였고, 그 결과 최적 탄화 수증기활성화 조건은 유입 탄화활성화 온도 $840^{\circ}C$, 수증기량 70 g/min, 탄화활성화 시간 30 min, 건조슬러지 주입량 10.8 kg/d로 결정되었다. 이때 요오드 흡착능은 328.1 mg/g으로 나타났다. nanoPOROSITY, FE-SEM, EDS를 이용하여 각각의 세공 발달과 구조, 원소성분 및 함량을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 하수슬러지 흡착제의 경우 매립장 침출수 흡착제, VOCs 처리용 흡착제 등의 사용이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.
