A construction of the exhibition evaluation support system based on GUI by visitors behavior analysis

  • The present thesis is on a construction of the system which supports exhibition evaluation of curators, which automatically collects, keeps, and totalizes objective data on visitor behavior in museums, and which comprehensively displays the results by tables and graphs. The system is composed by access points and mobile exhibition exposition devices in the museum operating together. Obtainable visitor information include a user number, an average staying period, contents use hour, and exhibition viewing frequency. Prototype experiment at museums shows that the system is effective in efficient data collection and exhibition evaluation and is expected to become an information collecting tool for visitor research and an exhibition evaluation tool for exhibition improvement.

의료소비자들의 의료기관 종별 정보탐색 행태에 관한 연구 (Information Searching Behavior of Health Care Consumers by Types of Medical Institutions)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the information searching behavior of consumer by type of medical institution. A questionnaire survey was conducted of 1,507 persons who were selected through a multi-stage stratified area cluster sampling in nationwide level, excluding Jeju-Do. Personal survey was conducted through door-to door survey from 27 July to 10 August 1999. The main results of this research was as following; 1. The proportion of information searching of respondents ranged from 91.5-95.2%. Even though the proportion of user in university hospital was slightly high, there was not significant statistically by type of medical institution. In terms of information source, personal informer was most common information source in all type of medical institution. Public informers were more frequently used in university hospital visitors and professional informer in general and university hospital visitors. 2. Comparing to searching intensity, user informer and professional informer's influences were more powerful, but not statistically significant. In analysis of unit influence for information source, written informer or public informer was more powerful in clinic visitor, professional informer and written informer in university hospital visitor. 3. Information which consumer want to know mostly were about on special potential and career of physician. The clinic visitor wanted to know about institutional location and kindness of medical personnel. The university hospital visitor also wanted to know about facilities and convenience of process. Comparing to institution selection criteria of consumers at 1991, quality related criteria were recognized more importantly in outpatient and dental services. But in case of inpatient services, convenience factor was recognized more importantly. In conclusion, the effort for specific marketing plan by type of medical institution should be needed. And more concern on information searching behavior of consumer will be needed.

미술관의 방문자 특성과 방문 후 평가에 따른 효율적 경영에의 시사점 (Study on Museum Visitor Characteristics and Implications for Effective Management Reflecting on Visitor's Feedback)

  • 본 연구는 미술관의 방문자의 특성 및 방문형태가 미술관의 상대적 위상지각 및 심미적 반응, 그리고 미술관의 제공 혜택지각에 영향을 미쳐 후속하여 방문자의 만족 및 개인.사회적 참여행동에 미치는 영향을 검증하였다. 이를 위해 미술관을 방문한 방문자를 대상으로 약 4주 동안 조사를 실시하였다. 총 315부를 배포하여 308부를 회수하였으나 이 중 불성실한 응답으로 분석대상으로 적합하지 않는 자료 15부를 제외한 293부를 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 연구결과, 방문자의 특성은 미술관의 상대적 위상지각 및 미술관 제공 혜택지각에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나 심미적 반응에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 미술관의 방문형태는 상대적 위상지각에는 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나 심미적 반응과 미술관의 제공 혜택지각에는 유의한 영향을 미치 지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 미술관의 상대적 위상지각은 심미적 반응에 긍정적 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나 미술관의 제공 혜택지각에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 아울러 미술관의 상대적 위상지각은 방문자 만족에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으나 심미적 반응 및 미술관 제공 혜택지각은 방문자 만족에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 미술관의 방문자가 만족할수록 향후 미술관의 다양한 프로그램에 참여도 높게 나타났다. 이로써 미래의 미술관은 방문자의 교육, 자선행사, 기부행사 등 내외적인 참여행동을 이끌어 일반 대중과 함께하는 공간으로 인식시키는 것이 방문자의 만족을 이끌 뿐만 아니라 개인.사회적 참여까지도 이끌 수 있음을 시사하고 있다.

  • A movement of visitor is a practical means that provides a spatial arrangement of exhibits and validity to that principle. Thus, an exhibition of a museum cannot be completed by an intrinsic value of exhibition itself. Rather, the meaning and value of exhibition can be genuinely evaluated by a visitor's experience and reactions. Therefore, focusing on an correlation between exhibits' spatial configuration and a behavior in a museum, this thesis will establish effective indicators of analysis and their validity in predicting a frequency of visitor's visit depending on the structural form of exhibition space.

Marketing for Real and Virtual Museums: A marketing Model to Explain Visitor Behavior in Real Museums and an Outlook on its Applicability to Virtual Museums

  • The purpose of this study is to obtain more insight into the explanation and prognosis of consumer behavior in real and virtual museums. The analysis focuses on the influence of the museum environment on the museum patrons (rather than on the influence of the art objects). On the basis of the emotional approach to environmental psychology by Mehrabian and Russell (1974), a behavior model has been developed for museums. The model, which is based on the emotional variables pleasure, arousal and dominance (PAD), is also enhanced by cognitive variabies (learning attractiveness, education standard and information demand). The enhancement of the classical model was necessary because cognitive variables play a major role in cultural institutions such as museums: One important objective of museums is the communication of cultural knowledge to visitors. The model is tested empirically using structural equation modeling. 301 visitors were interviewed individually. Two different museum environments were represented using visual stimuli. The theoretical model for museums can be proved empirically. The degree to which the model fits the empirical data was extensively tested. The model showed high compatibility with the data and could be accepted. The study proves that a model can be developed, which explains visitor behavior in museums. The model shows museum designers how museums should be designed to be both emotionally appealing and a learning environment. Based on empirical studies in virtual stores on the Internet, it is discussed whether the research findings in these environments may be applied to virtual museum environments. In order to create an emotionally appealing virtual museum, it is recommended that one uses a 3-dimensional representation to offer various possibilities for interaction and to create a multi-sensual environment that appears highly realistic.

Developing User Persona Based on the Factors of Visitor Recreation Activities in Hongneung Experimental Forest

  • Much research has been conducted on user behavior by taking surveys and interviews to plan the green space effectively. However, there is a limitation in understanding detailed user characteristics such as personalities and values. This study applied the Persona-based Scenario Method (PSM) to Hongneung Experimental Forest to understand the detailed needs and behaviors of the users in the forest recreation area. The PSM is a user experience modeling technique, which tries to understand the users by describing the type of users as real people. This study 1) extracts the factors of visitor recreation activities in Hongneung Experimental Forest based on the results of the survey, 2) develops user personas based on the results of survey and comes up with activity factors, and 3) designs user scenarios. As a result of applying the PSM, 64 factors of visitor activities were derived from the observation survey in 14 sites of Hongneung Experimental Forest and 25 key factors of visitor activities were chosen through observer's brainstorming. Second, three types of personas were developed considering the key factors and the results of user characteristics with quantitative and qualitative analysis. Lastly, context scenarios were designed by applying the key factors of visitor recreation activities to the persona model. We identified the design problems of the space and design requirements through the scenarios. This study has significance in that it takes an approach from the user perspective and was applied to the forest recreation area, which was mainly used in product design. The developed personas could be used for deriving design elements and setting the direction for planning considering detailed needs, behaviors and characteristics of users.

관람행태 특성과 전시 레이아웃 분석에 의한 박물관 단위전시공간에서의 동선계획에 관한 연구 (A study on the planning of circulation path through analysis of visitor's behavior and exhibition layout in museum exhibition area)

  • Circulation planning for exhibition space depends on visitors, exhibition documents and exhibition space. To make visitors feel sympathy for the exhibition and meet visitors' movement and its spatial factors in the exhibition, guidelines for the planning layout of exhibition and exhibition space are needed. This research was aimed at gathering guidelines about the circulation planning for exhibition space for visitors who can acquire exhibition information in a natural way and enjoy the whole aspect of exhibition or enjoy preferential exhibition by investigating and analyzing viewing types of visitors, layout of exhibition and space unit exhibition. The result of this research was summarized as the following. 1) It needs optional viewing space large enough to be seen clearly so that all exhibition space can be seen at a glance at the main entrance of exhibition. 2) Layout of exhibition is needed for island-exhibition position and optional space preparation, when visitors pass by an article on exhibition short-cut. 3) Layout of exhibition is needed for double sided exhibition.

미술관에서 평면전시와 입체전시에 따른 관람행태의 변화;부산시립미술관을 중심으로 (The Variation of Visitor' Behavior in relation to the Planar Exhibition and the Three Dimensional Exhibition in Art Museum;focused on Busan Museum of Modern Art)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate how visitors' behavior change in relation to the pattern of exhibition in art museum. For the purpose Busan Museum of Modern Art was selected as the sample in this study. And two patterns of exhibition, namely the planar exhibition and the three dimensional exhibition, were surveyed using the tracking movement method. The data gathered from random-sampling 60 visitors in a art museum was analyzed by the correlation analysis and T-test. The results are as follows; 1) There is no meaningful difference in visitors' behavior by the exhibition pattern in terms of their viewing area, viewing time, viewing distance, viewing velocity, viewing rate. 2) In contrast, there is meaningful difference in terms of the number of stops by visitors and the time spent without movement to see the objects; visitors stopped more often and stayed longer within the three dimensional exhibition space than the planar exhibition in a art museum. In sum, visitors extrinsically show no big behavioral difference between the planar exhibition and the three dimensional exhibition, but much difference in the way they communicate with objects; they show more active behavior within the three dimensional exhibition space.

  • 본 연구는 동기와 방문의 관련성을 해안형과 도심형으로 장소 유형을 분류하여 부산지역 특정 장소를 방문하는 방문객을 대상으로 조사하여 그들 사이의 관계를 조사하고자 하는 것이다. 방문객들은 방문지를 선택하는 데 있어 다양한 목적과 동기를 가지고 참여하게 되며 일반적으로, 방문 동기는 방문객들의 방문 행동을 이해하거나 방문지 선택과정에 중요한 개념으로 받아들여지고 있다. 방문객들이 왜 특정 장소를 선택하여 방문하는지를 이해하는 것은 방문 대상지의 정책 수립이나 마케팅에도 강력한 도구 역할을 하기 때문에 연구의 필요성이 제기된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 직접 설문을 통하여 이러한 동기와 방문의 관련성을 부산지역 특정 장소를 방문하는 방문객을 대상으로 조사하여 그들 사이의 관계를 조사하였다. 장소의 방문 동기별 방문의 관련성을 방문객을 대상으로 조사하여 관계를 직접적으로 조사 분석함으로써, 만족도 수준에 영향을 줄 수 있는 특정한 속성 및 서비스의 집중과 대상지의 마케팅 계획수립의 방향을 제시하는 의미 있는 근거를 Ordinal Logit Model을 이용하여 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다.

양방과 한방 의료 이용자의 서비스 선택요인 비교분석 - D병원의 사례를 중심으로 (Comparative Analysis on the Choice of Services between Western and Oriental Medicine)

  • This study was planned to investigate the difference in the choice of services between western and oriental medicine. Data were collected from 493 outpatients who visited the D hospital by structured questionnare. The results were as follows; The older aged groups, there were the more oriental medicine visitors, significantly Oriental medicine visitor had more experience to use the complementary food than western medicine visitor. In comparison of reason for service choice, the proportion of oriental medicine visitors was higher than western medicine visitor in considering of specialty of institution. In contrast, western medicine visitor had interest to 'newly-developed facility and equipment' and 'convenience and accessibility of service' as factor of service choice. In analysis of evaluation the service experiences, oriental medicine visitors evaluated the oriental medicine highly in 'therapeutic efficacy' and ' less side effect'. But western medicine visitor evaluated the western medicine highly in 'quick effect of therapy' and ' scientific apprach'. We concluded from result that there were difference in service choice behavior between western and oriental medicine visitor. We hope that these information will be applied to planning of consumer-oriented marketing strategy of hospital.
