  • This study concerns the new strength equation of concrete by ultrasonic pulse velocity test. There are not only few estimate strength equations of concrete by ultrasonic pulse velocity test, but also many problems to apply them because of time, cost, easiness, structural damage, reliability and so on. For this study, there performed a series of test and proposed equations as follows; $$Linear\;:\;f_{kc}=65.43Vp-207.18\;r^2=80.8\%$$ $$Quadratic\;:\;f_{ck}=42.35Vp^2-250.71Vp+378.8\;r^2=83.7\%$$ here, fck : Estimated compressive strength of concrete by MPa Vp: Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity of concrete by km/sec.

  • We propose a new method for measuring the frequency characteristics of phase velocity along a bone for bending vibration modes to diagnose its mechanical characteristics. By introducing a simple model of a distributed-constant-network, the phase velocity is determined for each frequency from the spatial distribution of velocity along a radius bone surface which is measured by the ultrasonic Doppler method.

  • This article describes a cellular instability and laminar burning velocity of simulated synthetic natural gas(SNG) including 3% hydrogen. In this study, experimental apparatus is employed using cylindrical bomb combustor, and investigation is carried out with high speed camera and Schlieren system. The cellular instability is caused by the buoyancy, hydrodynamic instability. Unstretched burning velocity can be determined by extrapolated stretch rate of zero point from measured results. These results were also compared with numerical calculation by Chemkin package with GRI 3.0, USC-II, WANG, C3 Fuel mechanism. As an experimental conditions, equivalence ratios was adjusted from 0.8 to 1.3. From results of this work, the one was found that the cellular instability has occurred by effect of thermal expansion rate and flame thickness. As the other results, unstretched laminar burning velocity was best coincided with GRI 3.0 mechanism.

  • The nature of a network implies movement among vertices, and can be regarded as flows. Based on the flow concept which network follows the hydraulic fluid principle, we develop a spatial network model using Bernoulli equation. Then we explore the organization of spatial network and growth by the velocity of network flows. Results show that flow velocity determines network connections or influence of a vertex up to a point, and that the overall network structure is the result of pull force (pressure) and flow velocity. We demonstrate how one vertex can monopolize connections within a network.

  • The influence of inlet air humidity on the flame velocity and combustion of the spark ignition engine were described experimentally by means of the flame velocity measuring apparatus using ion-current. The flame velocity are greatly influenced air fuel ratio and engine speed, and linealy decrease according to the increasing of inlet air humidity. The flame travell curve is very similar to the rate of mass burned and combustion progressive is estimated mostly by only the rate of mass burned curve. The decreasing of the mean flame velocity is about 0.4m/s for increasing of 0.001 specific humidity and we think the reason is mainly decreasing of thermal conductivity.

  • A Twisting machine is to twist yarns for improving yarn stiffness. After twisting yarns, the twisting machine is winding yarn at a bobbin. Traverse cam is main part of winding yarn part. In other to improve twisting machine performance and stability, improve traverse cam part. Original displacement curves of traverse cam has two problems. One is that displacement curve has a vertex point the other is that velocity curve is discontinue point. So that, in this paper proposes a modified displacement curves of traverse cam and new shape design method of the traverse cam using the relative velocity method[1]. The relative velocity method calculates the relative velocity of the follower versus the cam at a center of roller, and then determines a contact point by using the geometric relationship and the kinematical constraints. Finally, we present to compare two designed cam. One is designed using original displacement curves the other is using modified displacement curve.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the result of hardship performance of the propulsion speed on the flying carmel spins during a Figure Skating. The subjects were five the korea national representative players. Kinematic variables were analyzed 5frame of the excursion phase by the three-dimensional motion analysis system(60Hz). The obtained conclusion were as follows: In this study, during the propulsion classify two groups as "type I" the acceleration patterns S3, S4 and "type II" the uniform velocity group S1, S2, S5. The results of percentage comparative analysis between type I and type II can be summarized as below: the height of jump(24%), the height of COM(25%), the maximum speed of Roundhouse Kick(21%), the judging technical score(18%), the flight time(13%), the velocity of spins(4%), the distance of flight(-6%) Analysis of the results on performance variables, the velocity pattern of the type I showed comparatively excellence than that of type II.

  • The location and the shape of a freshwater transition zone in a coastal aquifer are affected by many hydraulic variables. To data most works to determine the effects of these variables are limited to qualitative comparison of transiton zones. In this work characteristics of transition zones are analyzed quantitatively. The investigation is limited to a steady-state transition zones. Three dimensionless variables are defined to represent characteristics of steady-state transition zones. They are maximum introsion length, thickness, and degree of stratification. Effects of principal hydraulic variables (velocity and dispersivity) on these characteristics are studied using a numerical model. Dimensional analysis is used to systematically analyze entire model results. Effects of velocity and dispersivity are seem clearly. From this study, increase in velocity is found to cause shrinkage of transition zones. This observation contradicts claims by some that, because dispersion is proportional to velocity, increase in velocity would cause expansion of transition zones.

  • Simultaneous measurement of turbulent velocity and concentration field in a stirred mixer tank is carried out by using PIV/LIF technique. Instantaneous velocity fields are measured by a $1K\times1K$ CCD camera adopting the frame straddle method while the concentration fields are obtained by measuring the fluorescence intensity of Rhodamine B tracer excited by the second pulse of Nd:Yag laser light. Image distortion due to the camera view-angle is compensated by a mapping function. It is found that the general features of the mixing pattern are quite dependent on the local flow characteristics during the rapid decay of mean concentration. However, the small scale mixing seems to be independent on the local turbulent velocity fluctuation.

  • Flow rate measurement is one of the difficult problems in the industrial applications. Especially, flow rate in a partially filled pipeline is affected by many parameters such as water level, channel slop, etc. In the present study, prior to the development of a flowmeter, the flow characteristics has been investigated by particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements. Three-dimensional velocity distributions were obtained from sectional measurements of velocity profiles according to the water level. As a result, it is found that there is no similarity in the velocity profile when the lateral position is changed. In addition, the maximum velocity does not always occur on the free surface. It depends on the water level. In the aspect of flow rate measurement, the previous calculus based upon point measurement techniques is proved to be inaccurate because of the lack of whole flow information.
