The Value-Added Processing System(VAPS) was developed for post-processing the KOMPSAT imagery. Recently software version and hardware specification of VAPS were changed for improving the VAPS performance. The purpose of this study is to describe about the improvement of existing VAPS(ver.1.0) and systematically evaluate the performance of the improved VAPS(ver.2.0). To this end, test-bed areas in South and North Korea were selected and then image processing tests were conducted using KOMPSAT-2 and KOMPSAT-3 imagery in both areas. In conclusion, VAPS(ver.2.0) had an ability to generate the high level products like ortho images and mosaic images. Image processing time using the Graphic Processing Unit(GPU) on ver.2.0 was enhanced up to 10 times than ver.1.0.

We proposed amorphous GeSe-based ReRAM device of metal-insulator-metal (M-I-M) structure. The operation characteristics of memory device occured unipolar switching characteristics. By introducing the concepts of valance-alternation-pairs (VAPs) and chalcogen vacancies, the unipolar resistive switching operation had been explained. In addition, the current transport behavior were analyzed with space charge effect of VAPs, Schottky emission in metal/GeSe interface and P-F emission by GeSe bulk trap in mind. The GeSe ReRAM device of M-I-M structure indicated the stable memory switching characteristics. Furthermore, excellent stability, endurance and retention characteristics were also verified.

In recent years, indoor localization in Wi-Fi environment has been researched for its location determining capability. The fingerprint and RF propagation models has been the main approach in determining indoor positioning. With the use of fingerprint, a low-cost, versatile localization system can be achieved without the use of external hardware. However, only a few research have been made on virtual access points (VAPs) among indoor localization models. In this paper, the idea of indoor localization system using fingerprint with the addition of VAP in Wi-Fi environment is discussed. The idea is to virtually add APs in the existing indoor Wi-Fi system, this would mean additional virtually APs in the network. The experiments of the proposed algorithm shows the positive results when 2VAPs are used compared with only APs. A combination of 3APs and 2VAPs had the lowest average error in all 4 scenarios with 3.99 meters.
Post-tonsillectomy pain in children is a difficult problem to manage. We examined the effect of 10% aerosol lidocaine for the post-tonsillectomy analgesia. ASA physical status I or II, between five and thirteen years of age were assigned, in a randomized fashion, into two groups. The Group I, 30 patients, received a total dose of 4 mg/kg of ten percent aerosol lidocaine on the tonsillar beds. Lidocaine was administered at the end of the surgical procedure. The Group II, 30 patients, were not sprayed with lidocaine aerosol. The postoperative pain scores were assessed by a "red and white" visual analoge pain scales (VAPS). VAPS values were obtained at one and eight hours after the operation. Values of one hour after the operation in the group I and II were $20.83{\pm}10.01$ and $34.50{\pm}10.53$, values of eight hours after the operation were $17.33{\pm}9.07$ and $23.5{\pm}11.08$. The post-tonsilectomy pains were significantly lower in the group I compared with the group II at one and eight hours after the operation. In conclusion, 4 mg/kg of ten percent aerosol lidocaine applied directly on the tonsillar beds was showen a superior, immediate post-tonsillectomy analgesic technique.
Background: Tramadol administered epidurally is known to have one-thirtieth the potency of morphine for treatment of pain following abdominal surgery. We designed a prospective, randomized, controlled study to evaluate the analgesic efficacy and safety of combined epidural infusion of bupivacaine and tramadol with 2-day infusor as ompared to bupivacaine and morphine combined epidural infusion. Methods: Sixty healthy women scheduled for Cesarean delivery were assigned randomly in double- blind fashion: Group 1 (n=20) were given a mixture of morphine 10 mg(1 ml), 0.5% bupivacaine 40 ml and normal saline(NS) 40 ml; Group 2(n=20) a mixture of tramadol 300 mg(6 ml), 0.5% bupivacaine 40 ml and NS 54 ml; Group 3(n=20) or a mixture of tramadol 500 mg(10 ml), 0.5% bupivacaine 50 ml and NS 50 ml, of continuous dose via epidural route following 1% lidocaine 6 ml as bolus dose for 48 hours postoperatively. We evaluated the analgesic efficacy and side effects of these three groups using visual analogue pain scale (VAPS) and verbal rating scale (VRS). Results: VAPS of group 1 and 3 were lower than group 2, and VAPS of group 1 was lower than group 3(12, 24, 36, 48 hours). VRS of group 1 and 3 were lower than group 2 (12, 24, 36 hours). There were incidences of pruritus was 16 patients in group 1. Conclusions: Tramadol does possess the analgesia effect of morphine, but has the added analgesia following increment. Further research to determine the most effective administration method and reguired dosage of tramadol is further needed.

Background: Surgical extraction of impacted mandibular third molars is the most common procedure performed by oral surgeons. The procedure cannot be performed effectively without achieving profound anesthesia. During this procedure, patients may feel pain during surgical bone removal (at the cancellous level) or during splitting and luxation of the tooth, despite administration of routine nerve blocks. Administration of intraosseous (IO) lignocaine injections during third molar surgeries to provide effective anesthesia for pain alleviation has been documented. However, whether the anesthetic effect of lignocaine is the only reason for pain alleviation when administered intraosseously remains unclear. This conundrum motivated us to assess the efficacy of IO normal saline versus lignocaine injections during surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of IO normal saline as a viable alternative or adjunct to lignocaine for alleviation of intraoperative pain during surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars. Methods: This randomized, double-blind, interventional study included 160 patients who underwent surgical extraction of impacted mandibular third molars and experienced pain during surgical removal of the buccal bone or sectioning and luxation of the tooth. The participants were divided into two groups: the study group, which included patients who would receive IO saline injections, and the control group, which included patients who would receive IO lignocaine injections. Patients were asked to complete a visual analog pain scale (VAPS) at baseline and after receiving the IO injections. Results: Of the 160 patients included in this study, 80 received IO lignocaine (control group), whereas 80 received IO saline (study group) following randomization. The baseline VAPS score of the patients and controls was 5.71 ± 1.33 and 5.68 ± 1.21, respectively. The difference between the baseline VAPS scores of the two groups was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). The difference between the numbers of patients who experienced pain relief following administration of IO lignocaine (n=74) versus saline (n=69) was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). The difference between VAPS scores measured after IO injection in both groups was not statistically significant (P >0.05) (1.05 ± 1.20 for the control group vs. 1.72 ± 1.56 for the study group) Conclusion: The study demonstrates that IO injection of normal saline is as effective as lignocaine in alleviating pain during surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars and can be used as an effective adjunct to conventional lignocaine injection.

To increase the utilization of the KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite(KOMPSAT) series imagery being developed pursuant to the national space development program, high quality images with enhanced locational accuracy should be created through standardized post-processing processes. In the present study, using the Value-Added Processing System(VAPS) constructed for the post-processing of KOMPSAT imagery, location correction experiments were conducted using KOMPSAT-2 and -3 imagery from domestic and overseas regions. First, 50 pieces from each of KOMPSAT-2 imagery were selected from South Korean and North Korean regions, and modeling was conducted using GCP Chips. According to the results, the Root Mean Square Errors(RMSE) for South Korea and North Korea were 1.59 pixels and 2.04 pixels, respectively, and the locational accuracy of ortho mosaic imagery using check points were 1.33m(RMSE) and 1.90m(RMSE), respectively. Meanwhile, in the case of overseas regions for which GCP could not be easily obtained, the improvement of locational accuracy could be identified through image corrections using Open Street Map(OSM). The VAPS and reference materials used in the present study are expected to be very useful in constructing a precise image DB for entire global regions.
Viewers of videos are likely to absorb more information from the part of the screen that attracts visual attention. This fact has led to the visual attention models that are being used in producing and evaluating videos. In this paper, we investigate the factors that are significant to visual attention and the mathematical form of the visual attention model. We then estimated the visual attention probability using the statistical design of experiments. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) verifies that the motion velocity, distance from the screen, and amount of defocus blur affect human visual attention significantly. Using the response surface modeling (RSM), we created a visual attention score model that concerns the three factors, from which we calculate the visual attention probabilities (VAPs) of image pixels. The VAPs are directly applied to existing gradient based 3D effect perception measurement. By giving weights according to our VAPs, our algorithm achieves more accurate measurement than the existing method. The performance of the proposed measurement is assessed by comparing them with subjective evaluation as well as with existing methods. The comparison verifies that the proposed measurement outperforms the existing ones.

We have investigated the photoinduced birefrinence by the electric field effects in chalcogenide thin films. The electric field effects have investigated the various applied bias voltages(forward and reverse) in chalcogenide thin films. A pumping (inducing) and a probing bean were using a linearly polarized He-Ne laser light (633nm) and semiconductor laser light (780nm), respectively. The result was shown that the birefringence had a higher value in DC +2V than the others, Also, we obtained the birefringence in the electric field effects by various voltages. In addition, we have discussed the anisotropy property of chalcogenide thin films by the electric field effects.
