Pentacene OTFTs with $Al_2O_3$ gate insulator by Atomic Layer Deposition Process

  • Pentacene OTFTs of $Al_2O_3$ insulator treated with a diluted PMMA were fabricated for the application of the low voltage operation and large area displays. The operation voltage of 15 V and the mobility of 0.35 $cm^2/Vsec$ are obtained even adopting the thick dielectric of 100 nm which was deposited by atomic layer deposition at the temperature of $150^{\circ}C$. The current on-off ratio was $4.1{\times}10^4$ for the OTFTs treated with 9:1 PMMA and good saturation characteristics were obtained as drain voltage increases.

Clamping Voltage Characteristics of ZPCCE-Based Varistors with Sintering Temperature (소결온도에 따른 ZPCCE계 바리스터의 제한전압특성)

  • The surge characteristics of ZnO varistors consisting of $ZnO-{Pr}_6{O}_11-CoO-{Cr}_2{O}_3-{Er}_2{O}_3$ceramics were investigated at various sintering temperatures. As sintering temperature raises, the varistor voltage was decreased from 341.2 to 223.1 V/mm, the nonlinear exponent was decreased from 64,9 to 44.1. On the other hand, the leakage current exhibited a minimum(0.64 $\mu$A) at 134$0^{\circ}C$, The clamping capability was slightly deteriorated with increasing sintering temperature. On the whole, the ZPCCE-based ZnO varistors exhibited good clamping voltage characteristics as exhibiting the clamping voltage ratio of 1.85 ∼ 1.92 approximately at surge current of 100 A.

  • We have developed blue-emitting phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) using 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (BCP) and tris (8-quinolinolato)aluminum ($Alq_3$) electron transport layers. As blue dopant and host materials, bis[(4,6-di-fluorophenyl)-pyridinate-N,C2']picolinate (FIrpic) and N,N'-dicarbazolyl-3,5-benzene (mCP) were used, respectively. The driving voltage, current efficiency and emission characteristics of devices were investigated. While the driving voltage was about $1{\sim}2$ V lower in the device with an $Alq_3$ layer, the current efficiency was about 66 % higher in the device with BCP electron transport layer. the blue phosphorescent OLED with BCP layer exhibited higher purity of color, resulting from a relatively weak electroluminescence intensity at 500 nm.

  • Transparent conductive oxide (TCO) are necessary as front electrode or anti-reflecting coating for increasing efficiency of LED and Photodiode. In this paper, aluminum-doped Zinc oxide films(AZO) were prepared by RF magnetron sputtering on Si substrate at room temperature with application of substrate bias from -60 to 60 V. Then annealed at temperature of 200, 300 and $400^{\circ}C$ for 1hr in $H_2$ ambient. Structural and electrical property of AZO thin films were investigated.

  • The inclusion of crude ginger rhizome (zingiber officinale) extract at 0.5 to 1.0% (v/w) in the marination of marginally acceptable lean beef improved meat tenderness by 20-30% in the absence of 2% salt and by 35-45% in the presence of 2% salt. Ginger extract also retarded the development of rancidity and increased shelf-life of precooked lean beef two-fold in saran-wrap (no vacuum) storage at $4^{\circ}C$. Ginger rhizome improves the palatability and acceptability of lean beef from carcasses of marginal quality. It is particularly beneficial for the preparation of pre-cooked ready-to-eat beef products that are not vacuum-packaged.

  • Polycrystalline Ni-Mn-Ga films have been deposited onto mica substrates held at 720 K by flash-evaporation method. At room temperature the films have a tetragonal structure with a = b = 0.598 and c = 0.576 nm typical for bulk $Ni_2MnGa$ below a martensitic transformation. Temperature measurements of ferromagnetic resonance reveal a martensitic phase transformation at 310 K. The transformation brings about a substantial decrease in the effective magnetization and a drastic increase in the ferromagnetic resonance linewidth due to a strong increase in the magnetic anisotropy in the martensitic phase.

  • HEV용 리튬이온 전지에 대한 연구는 최근에 많은 연구가 진행되고 있으며 그중 고용량 및 저렴한 가격, 환경에 대한 안정성으로 인해 Li-Mn spinel에 대한 성능향상 연구가 많이 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Li-Mn spinel의 입자크기에 대한 기초 물성 과 전기적 특성을 측정하여 입자크기가 용량에 미치는 영향에 대한 고찰을 하였다. Li-Mn spinel의 비표면적, C-V 특성, 전기적 용량, coulomb efficiency 등을 통하여 입자의 크기와 전해액, Li의 구동등과 관련하여 용량특성에 향상을 가져오는 입자크기 조건을 정의하였고 그에 따라 온도별로 합성 한 후 입자사이즈에 대한 특성을 나타내었다.

  • A new type of low voltage driven SrTiO3 varistor was investigated. $SrTi3_3$ sintered with CuO-SiO2 additions, the sintering temperature was reduced to 1250-1300C. With the sintering additives, the semiconducting SrTi03 was able to fabricate single time sintering in reducing atmosphere(95% N2 + 5% H2), The non-linear coefficient value was 10.3 and the operating voltage was about 7 V.

  • A superconducting cable is one of the promising methods of undground transmission of high electric power in the future. It is very important that composite insulation system of $LN_2$ and polymer films takes into consideration for application high $T_c$ superconductor. This study is about both the partial discharge and properties V-t in $LN_2$. As result, applied voltage doesn't depend on the radius of non-eroded area but eroded area. And eroded area is observed the formation such as the ring of a tree.

The release of cellular constituents of Lactobacillus lactis by freezing and freeze-drying

  • Lactobacillus lactis cell was markedly damaged when shocked by freezing and freeze-drying. The supernatant of shocked cells in 1% phosphate buffer (pH7.3) showed a maximum u.v. absorption spectra at 260nm after further incubation for 90min at $37-^{\circ}C.$ The leakage of cellular constituents by shocking could be prevented by dimethyl sulfoxide, glycerol, dextrose and $MgCl_2.$ Among them, $MgCl_2$ showed the preventing effect before and after freezing wh-ereas the rests, only before the treatment. This leakage was proved not to be related to the cellular repairing mechanism.
