The Influence of Assay Error on Tobramycin Pharmacokinetics using the Nonlinear Least Square Regression and Bayesian Analysis in Gastric Cancer Patients (위암환자에서 비선형 최소자승 회귀분석과 베이시안 분석에 의한 토브라마이신의 약물동태에 분석오차의 영향)

  • 토브라마이신은 그람음성균 감염에 사용하는 아미노글리코사이드계 항생제로 이독성 및 신독성 등의 부작용과 큰 개인차로 혈중농도 모니터를 통한 투여계획이 필요한 약물이다. 본 연구에서는 16명의 위암환자에서 비선형 최소자승 회귀분석과 베이시안 분석에 의한 토브라마이신의 약물동태에 분석오차의 영향에 대하여 연구하였다. 약물투여는 토브라마이신 1-2 mg/kg을 30분에 걸쳐 8시간 간격으로 등속 주입하였으며, 혈액 채취는 정상상태에 도달되었다고 판단되는 첫 약물투여 72시간 후에, 약물 주입 5분전과 주입이 끝난 뒤 30분과 2시간에서 세차례 채취하였다. 혈청중 약물농도는 형광편광면역법으로 측정 하였다. 분석오차를 위해 0, 1, 2, 4, 8 및 12 ${\mu}g/mL$에 해당하는 토브라마이신 혈중농도(C)을 네차례 측정하여 각 혈중농도의 표준편차 (SD)을 구하였다. 토브라마이신 분석오차를 구하기 위한 다항식이 SD = 0.0224+0.0540C+0.00173C2, $R^2$ = 0.935이었다. 이 식에서 구한 SD 값으로 분석시 가중치를 주었을 때, 비선형 최소자승 회귀분석에 의한 토브라마이신의 약물동태학적 파라메타 ($V_d$, $K_{el}$, $K_{slpoe}$, $t_{1/2}$)에 유의성있는 영향을 주었으나, 베이시안 분석에 의한 토브라마이신의 약물동태학적 파라메타에는 영향이 없었다. 이 다항식으로 부터 구한 분석오차를 토브라마이신의 비선형 최소자승 회귀분석을 이용한 약물동태 연구 및 파라메타 분석에 적용하여 좀 더 정확한 투여용량을 결정할 수 있으며, 더 나아가 토브라마이신 약물동태 시뮬레이션 연구에 응용할 수 있다.

INAs epitaxial layer growth for InAs Hall elements (Hall 소자용 InAs 박막성장)

  • We studied the properties of the InAs epitaxial layers grown of (100)-oriented GaAs ($2^{\circ}$tilted toward[011]) by molecular beam epitaxy. From DCX (double-crystal x0ray), the better crystal quality was shown in InAs epitaxial layers on about 2500$\AA$ GaAs epitaxial layers on GaAs, we obtained the high mobility of InAs epitaxy in As/In BEP ratio (1.2~2.0) from Hall effect measurement. The electron mobility increased as electron concentration increases, until Si cell temperature $960^{\circ}C$$(N_D=2.21\times10^{-17}\textrm{cm}^{-3})$. The mobility decreases as the Si cell temperature increases, at the temperature over $960^{\circ}C$. We obtained the high mobility (1.10$\times$104cm2/V.s) at Si electron concentration of $N_D=2.21\times10^{-17}\textrm{cm}^{-3}$.

Fabrication of $Li_2B_4O_7$ Series Single-Crystal TLDs and their TL properties ($Li_2B_4O_7$ 계열 단결정 TLD 소자의 제작과 특성)

  • High-quality single crystals of pure $Li_2B_4O_7$ as well as $Li_2B_4O_7$ doped with Cu, Mn and Mg impurities (1.0mol%, respectively) have been grown from the melt of $Li_2CO_3+2B_2O_3$ by Czochralski method in platinum crucibles. To study the thermoluminescent properties, $Li_2B_4O_7$ series single crystal TLDs were made by cutting in the size of $4{\times}5{\times}1\;mm^3$. The glow curves show two or three peaks which can be easily deconvoluted. It is observed that room temperature($20{\sim}30^{\circ}C$) fadings of the dosimetric peaks of $Li_2B_4O_7$ series single crystal TLDs were about 10 % for 30 days. The relative photon energy response for $Li_2B_4O_7$ series single crystal TLDs were about 85 % when the responses were normalized to that measured with $^{60}Co\;(1.25\;MeV)\;{\gamma}-rays$. The measured data are in a good agreement with theoretical ones. The $Li_2B_4O_7$ series single crystal TLDs fabricated in this work can be used for monitoring personal and environmental radioactivity.

Removal of I by Adsorption with AgX (Ag-impregnated X Zeolite) from High-Radioactive Seawater Waste (AgX (Ag-함침 X 제올라이트)에 의한 고방사성해수폐액으로부터 요오드(I)의 흡착 제거)

  • This study aimed to the adsorption-removal of high- radioactive iodide (I) contained in the initially generated high-radioactive seawater waste (HSW), with the use of AgX (Ag-impregnated X zeolite). Adsorption of I by AgX (hereafter denoted as AgX-I adsorption) was increased by increasing the Ag-impregnated concentration in AgX, and its concentration was suitable at about 30 wt%. Because of AgCl precipitation by chloride ions contained in seawater waste, the leaching yields of Ag from AgX (Ag-impregnated concentration : about 30~35 wt%) was less than those in distilled water (< 1 mg/L). AgX-I adsorption was above 99% in the initial iodide concentration ($C_i$) of 0.01~10 mg/L at m/V (ratio of weight of adsorbent to solution volume)=2.5 g/L. This shows that efficient removal of I is possible. AgX-I adsorption was found to be more effective in distilled water than in seawater waste, and the influence of solution temperature was insignificant. Ag-I adsorption was better described by a Freundlich isotherm rather than a Langmuir isotherm. AgX-I adsorption kinetics can be expressed by a pseudo-second order rate equation. The adsorption rate constants ($k_2$) decreased by increasing $C_i$, and conversely increased by increasing the ratio of m/V and the solution temperature. This time, the activation energy of AgX-I adsorption was about 6.3 kJ/mol. This suggests that AgX-I adsorption is dominated by physical adsorption with weaker bonds. The evaluation of thermodynamic parameters (a negative Gibbs free energy and a positive Enthalpy) indicates that AgX-I adsorption is a spontaneous reaction (forward reaction), and an endothermic reaction indicating that higher temperatures are favored.

The Frequency of Chromosomal Aberrations of Peripheral Lymphocytes according to Radiation Dose and Dose Rate (선량 및 선량률 변화에 따른 말초혈액 임파구의 염색체 이상의 빈도)

  • Purpose : It was studied that the relationship between radiation dose, dose rate and the frequency of chromosomal aberrations in peripheral lymphocytes. Methods and Materials : Peripheral lymphocytes were irradiated in vitro with 6 MeV X-ray at dose ranges from 50 cGy to 800 cGy. The variations of the frequency of chromosomal aberrations were observed according to different radiation dose rate from 20 cGy/min to 400 cGy/min at constant total dose of 400 cGy which it was considered as factor to correct biological radiation dose measurement. Results : The yields of lymphocytes with chromosomal aberrations (dicentric chromosome, ring chromosome, acentric fragment pairs) are 0% at 50 cGy, 9% at 100 cGy, 20% at 200 cGy, 27% at 300 cGy, 55% at 400 cGy, 88% at 600 cGy, and 100% at 800 cGy. The value of Ydr is 0.000 at 50 cGy, 0.093 at 100 cGy, 0.200 at 200 cGy, 0.354 at 300 cGy, 0.612 at 400 cGy, 2.040 at 600 cGy, and 2.846 at 800 cGy. The relationship between radiation (D) and the frequency of dicentrlc chromosomes and ring Chromosomes (Ydr) can be expressed as Ydr=0.188${\times}$10$^{-2}$ D/Gy+0.422${\times}$10$^{-4}$/Gy$^{2}$${\times}$D$^{2}$ The Value of Qdr is 0.000 at 50 cGy, 1.000 at 100 cGy, 1.000 at 200 cGy, 1.333 at 300 cGy, 1.118 at 400 cGy, 2.318 at 600 cGy, and 2.846 at 800 cGy. When 400 cGy is irradiated with different dose rate each of 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 160, 240, 320, and 400 cGy/min, Ydr is each of 0.982, 0.837, 0.860, 0.732, 0.763, 0.966, 0.909, 1.006, and 0.806, and Qdr is each of 1.839, 1.555, 1.654, 1.333, 1.381, 1.750, 1.6000, 1.710, and 1.318. Conclusion : There are not the significant variations of Ydr and Qdr values according to different dose rate. And so radiation damage is influenced by total exposed radiation doses and is influenced least of all by different dose rate when it is acute single exposure.

Various Cathode Design for Cu Emission Line In See-through Hollow Cathode Glow Discharge (st-HCGD) (관통형 속 빈 음극관 글로우 방전에서 다양한 음극관 디자인에 따른 구리방출선 세기 증가에 대한 연구)

  • We have investigated the intensity of Cu 510.6 nm emission line in see-through hollow cathode glow discharge (st-HCGD) for the development of medical Cu vapor laser. In order to acquire the stable plasma in st-HCGD cell at high current, several factors such as current, the length and the inner diameter of cathode tube, the shape of the tube, and the range of the sputtering range were tested. An optimum condition in our st-HCGD cell was obtained at 600 V, 700 mA, 2.3 Torr of Ar gas (100 SCCM), and 40 mm of tube with 4-11-4 mm type cathode design. Also, it was indirectly observed that temperature in the cell could reach more than $1,000{\circ}C$ since Cu cathode was melt at the current more than 700 mA (melting point of Cu, $1084{\circ}C$).

  • Electronic circuits with semiconductor and IC are very weak against the surge voltage and currents. The surge protective devices for electronic circuit and AC power lines are becoming more widely used. It is possible to give rise to the malfunction of the earth leakage circuit breaker(ELB) due to the operation of surge protective devices, and the interruption of AC power lines on account of the malfunction of the ELB brings about several disadvantages such as low operation efficiency and reliability of electronic and informational systems, economical loss, and etc. The aim of the present work is to investigate the dead operation characteristics of the ELB against the surge voltages. The impulse generator of 10[kV) in an 1.2/ 50[~) voltage waveform was fabricated. The dead operation characteristics of the ELB applied by surge voltages were measured under the conditions of KS C 4613 and the test circuit with a varistor. As a consequence, the peak value of the zero-phase sequence circuit of the ELB is increased as the surge voltage and stray capacitance increase. All of the ELBs used in this work were satisfied with the lightning impulse dead operation test condition defined in KS C 4613. However one specimen only did not bring about dead operation in the condition of the test circuit with a varistor. There is high possibility that a large portion of the ELB installed at the AC power lines with the surge protective devices bring about the dead operation.

Processing and Physicochemical Properties of Collagen from Yellowfin Tuna (Thunnus albacares) Abdominal Skin (황다랑어 복부 껍질을 이용한 콜라겐의 제조 및 물리화학적 특성 해석)

  • Processing of collagen from yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) abdominal skins was optimized by response surface methodology and central composite design. The values of independent variables at optimal conditions were NaOH concentration: 0.5 N, NaOH treatment time: 36.2 hr, pepsin concentration: 1:4.9 ratio (0.245%, w/v), and digestion time: 48.1 hr, respectively. The collagen content estimated under optimal conditions was 33.1%, and the actual experimental collagen content was 32.3%. Physicochemical properties of collagen from yellowfin tuna abdominal skin were investigated by amino acids analysis, SDS-PAGE, FT-IR, viscosity and denaturation temperature. Amino acids content of the collagen was 21.0%. SDS-PAGE pattern of the collagen showed two different $\alpha$-chain (${\alpha}_1$- and ${\alpha}_2$- chain), $\beta$-component and $\gamma$-component. The spectrum of FT-IR of the collagen showed wavenumber at 3,434, 1,650, 1,542 and $1,235\;cm^{-1}$ representing the regions of amide A, I, II and III, respectively. Relative viscosity of the collagen decreased continuously on heating up to $32^{\circ}C$, and the rate of decrease was retarded in the temperature range of $35-50^{\circ}C$. Denaturation temperature (Td) of the collagen solution (0.06%, w/v) was $31^{\circ}C$ and was lower than calf skin collagen ($35^{\circ}C$).

The Physiological Activities of Bark Extract of Albizia julibrissin (자귀나무(A. julibrissin) 수피 추출물의 생리활성)

  • Three bark extracts of Albizia julibrissin were prepared using water (AW), 70% (v/v) ethanol (AE), and hot water (AHW). Organic solvent fractions were analyzed for total flavonoids and polyphenols, antioxidant activities, and inhibitory activities against xanthine oxidase. Total flavonoid and polyphenol contents of the AHW extract were 8.57 mg/g and 108.67 mg/g, respectively. The SOD-like activities of all extracts, assayed at 1.0 mg/mL, were 10.46-16.73%. The nitrite-scavenging ability of the AHW extract, assayed at pH 1.2, was 60.82%, and the $IC_{50}$ value was $770.18\;{\mu}g$/mL. The electron-donating ability of the AHW extract, at 0.3 mg/mL, was 92.30%; the $IC_{50}$ values of the AW and AHW extracts were $31.31\;{\mu}g$/mL and $36.22\;{\mu}g$/mL, respectively; thus higher than that of ascorbic acid ($39.06\;{\mu}g$/mL). Xanthine oxidase inhibition by the AHW extract, at 1.0 mg/mL, was 94.05%. These results indicate that the AHW of A. julibrissin has potential as a natural antioxidant, for addition to foods and nutraceuticals.

Potential Changes in the Distribution of Seven Agricultural Indicator Plant Species in Response to Climate Change at Agroecosystem in South Korea (농업생태계 기후변화 지표식물 7종의 분포 특성과 기후변화에 따른 영향 예측)

  • This study was carried out to predict the current and future potential distribution and to identify the factors affecting potential distribution of 7 plants(Lamium amplexicaule L., Trigonotis peduncularis(Trevir.) Benth. ex Hemsl, Capsella bursa-pastoris (L.) L. W. Medicus, Taraxacum officinale Weber, Veronica persica Poir., Conyza sumatrensis E. Walker, Hypochaeris radicata L.) selected as indicators for climate change in agricultural ecosystem. We collected presence/absence data of 7 indicator plants at 108 sites in South Korea and applied the Maxent model. According to future climate scenario, the distribution area of C. bursa-pastoris(L.) L. W. Medicus, T. officinale Weber, and V. persica Poir. was expected to be reduced, but the distribution range was to be maintained. The distribution areas and range of the C. sumatrensis E. Walker and H. radicata L. were expected to be increased. The distribution area and range of T. peduncularis (Trevir.) Benth. Ex Hemsl. and L. amplexicalue L. were rapidly decreased. Non-climatic factors such as land cover and altitude were the most important environmental variable for T. officinale Weber, C. bursa-pastoris(L.) L.W.Medicus, V. persica Poir., T. peduncularis (Trevir.) Benth. Ex Hemsl., and L. amplexicalue L.. Climatic factors were the most important environmental variable for C. sumatrensis E. Walker and H. radicata L.. It is expected that the future potential distribution of 7 indicator plants response to climate change will be used to monitor and to establish the management plan.
