  • A new photo-alignment material, copoly (PM4Ch-ChMA), copoly (poly (4-methacryloyloxy) chalcone-cholesterol methacrylate) was synthesized and the electro-optical (EO) characteristics for the photo-aligned vertical-aligned (VA)-LC display (LCD) were studied. Good voltage-transmittance (V-T) and response time characteristics for the photo-aligned VA-LCD with polarized UV exposure on the copolymer-1 (2%) surfaces for 1 min. were observed. EO performance for the photo-aligned VA-LCD decreased with increasing UV exposure time on a copolymer surface. Also, excellent V-T and response time characteristics for the photo-aligned VA-LCD with UV exposure on copolymer-2 and copolymer-3 surfaces for 3min. can be achieved.

  • This paper shows the discharge characteristics in flowing air with variation of tempearature(T) under the needle-needle gap. Flowing air duct of this investigation is circular tube. The flow at the experimental position's section is described as fully developed laminar flow. The important results obtained from this study are as follows. The ratio sparkover voltages to the Reynolds number(Re) increases with decreasing the Re. The velocity profiles can be visualized by this experimental method. The breakdown voltage ($V_{s1}$) for variation of T at 1[m/s] can be expressed by $V_{s1}$ = $K_1$(23.98$\rho$d + 6.98$\sqrt{\rho{d}}$) [kV].

  • Fuel cell is remarkable for one of the clean energy recently. But in the fuel cell case, it has characteristics with low voltage and high current. Therefore, for using domestic power, it should be changed to the power source with commercial voltage and frequency. In this paper fuel cell simulator having electrical characteristics is designed and constructed instead of fuel cell stack. Voltage generated from fuel cell is from 39V to 72V dc and should be boosted to 400v do for home appliances. A stand alone system including the inverter and DC/DC converter for the fuel cell is then proposed. Experimental result is used to support the analysis.

  • 초고속 디지털 광통신용 $1.55{\mu}m$ InGaAsP/InGaAsP MQW 광흡수 변조기에서 각종 구조변수들이 광흡수변조기 성능에 미치는 영향을 체계적으로 조사분석하였다. 일반적으로 행하여지는 양자우물 수 $N_w$, 양자우물 두께 $t_w$, detuning 양 $\Delta\lambda$, 소자길이 L과 같은 구조 파라미터들에 더불어 본 연구에서 새롭게 제안한 SCH 영역내에 n형으로 도핑된 길이 $t_n$가 소자 성능에 미치는 영향을 해석하였다 이를 통해 소자길이 L=$100{\mu}m$의 광흡수변조기에서 구동 전압 $V_{\alpha}$=0~-2V 영역에서 동작하고 기초흡수 -1.5dB 이하, -1V에서 -2.92dB 및 -2V에서 -10.0dB 이상의 소광비를 주는 우수한 성능을 갖는 초고속 광흡수 변조기 설계가 가능하였다.

  • Audible noise from corona discharge had been identified as one of the most important factors in the design of conductor configurations for high-voltage transmission lines. 500kV and above. Therefore this paper describes audible noise characteristics of 6 X 480mm conductor bundle in KEPRI 765kV Test Line and Corona Cage. Prediction formula for audible(corona) noise on a 765kV transmission Line was developed using this results.

Flash EEPROM의 Inter-Poly Dielectric 막의 새로운 구조에 관한 연구 (Study of the New Structure of Inter-Poly Dielectric Film of Flash EEPROM)

  • Flash EEPROM 셀에서 기존의 ONO 구조의 IPD를 사용하면 peripheral MOSFET의 게이트 산화막을 성장할 때에 사용되는 세정 공정을 인하여 ONO 막의 상층 산화막이 식각되어 전하 보존 특성이 크게 열화되었으나 IPD 공정에 ONON 막을 사용하면 그 세정 공정시에 상층 질화막이 상층 산호막이 식각되는 것을 방지시켜 줌으로 전하보존 특성이 크게 개선되었다. ONON IPD 막을 갖고 있는 Flash EEPROM 셀의 전화 보존 특성의 모델링을 위하여 여기서는 굽는(bake) 동안의 전하 손실로 인한 문턱전압 감소의 실험식으로 ${\Delta}V_t\; = \;{\beta}t^me^{-ea/kT}$을 사용하였으며, 측정 결과 ${\beta}$=184.7, m=0.224, Ea=0.31 eV의 값을 얻었다. 이러한 0.31 eV의 활성화 에너지 값은 굽기로 인한 문턱전압의 감소가 층간 질화막 내에서의 트립된 전자들의 이동에 의한 것임을 암시하고 있다. 한편, 그 모델을 사용한 전사 모사의 결과는 굽기의 thermal budget이 낮은 경우에 실험치와 잘 일치하였으나, 반면에 높은 경우에는 측정치가 전사 모사의 결과보다 훨씬 더 크게 나타났다. 이는 thermal budge가 높은 경우에는 프로그램시에 층간 질화막 내에 트립되어 누설전류의 흐름을 차단해 주었던 전자들이 빠져나감으로 인하여 터널링에 의한 누설전류가 발생하였기 때문으로 보여졌다. 이러한 누설전류의 발생을 차단하기 위해서는 ONON 막 중에서 층간 질화막의 두께는 가능한 얇게 하고 상층 산화막의 두께는 가능한 두껍게 하는 것이 요구된다.

ZnS:Mn/ZnS:Tb 박막 전계발광소자의 문턱전압 변화 (Threshold Voltage Variation of ZnS:Mn/ZnS:Tb Thin- film Electroluminescent(TFEL) Devices)

  • E-beam 장비로 ZnS:Mn/Zns:Tb 2층 구조의 TFEL 소자를 제작하여 전기, 광학적 특성을 조사하였다. ITO 투명전극과 ATO 절연체가 증착된 유리기판(corning 7059 glass) 위에 E-beam 장비를 이용하여 ZnS:Mn, ZnS:Tb 형광체를 각각 3000 A로 증착하여 총 두께 6000 Å 갖도록 제작하였다. ZnS:Mn/ZnS:Tb TFEL 소자의 스펙트럼은 Mn/sup 2+/ 이온과 Tb/sup 3+/ 이온의 고유한 발광 스펙트럼을 모두 포함하여 540㎚에서 640㎚에 이르는 매우 넓은 범위의 발광 스펙트럼을 나타내었다. 휘도는 인가전압의 크기가 112V에서부터 급격히 증가하여 155 V에서 포화 휘도 1025 Cd/㎡를 나타내었고 최대 전압 185 V에서의 휘도는 2080 Cd/㎡이었다. Capacitance-voltage(C-V) 및 transferred charge-phosphor voltage(Q/sub t/-V/sub p/) 특성으로부터 형광층 capacitance (C/sub p/)와 절연층 capacitance (C/sub i/)가 각각 13.5 nF/㎠, 60 nF/㎠됨을 알 수 있었고, 인가전압의 최대치를 155 V에서 185 V로 증가시킬수록 TFEL 소자의 문턱전압(V/sub thl/)이 126 V에서 93 V로 감소함을 알 수 있었다. 이것은 인가전압을 증가시킬수록 polarization charge가 증가되고 polarization charge에 의해 형성된 형광체 내부전압이 증가되었기에 문턱전압이 감소한 것이다. 또한 처음으로 문턱전압에 관한 수식을 제안하였으며 문턱전압의 이론치와 실험치가 일치하는 것을 확인하였다.

Surface characteristics and bioactivity of minocycline-treated Ti-6Al-4V alloy

  • Chemical agents such as minocycline (MC) and citric acid (CA) were suggested in the treatment of contaminated implant surface. In this study, MC-HCl treatment was performed to enhance surface characteristics of titanium alloy surface. The purpose of this study was to assess the characteristics and the biocompatibility of Ti-6Al-4V surface treated by MC. Alpha-beta titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) samples were prepared and they were divided into 6 groups according to chemical concentration and treatment time. These groups include 1) group I, non-treated smooth titanium alloy; 2) group II, MC 1.5 mg/mL for 1 hour; 3) group III, MC 1.5 mg/mL for 24 hours; 4) group IV, MC 15 mg/mL for 10 minutes; 5) group V, MC 100 mg/mL for 5 minutes; 6) group VI, pH1 CA for 3 minutes. The analysis of the surface characteristics of MC-treated titanium alloy was executed using scanning electron microscopy, roughness test, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Cell adhesion and MTT assay was done using MC3T3 cell. Titanium surfaces treated with MC indicated a more smoothened surface microstructure. For group II and III, the new peaks of rutile TiO2 were found. Group II and V have more basic group of Ti-OH form in XPS. In MTT assay, all MC-treated groups showed significantly higher cell viability compared to control. The surface roughness, crystal structure, surface hydrophilicity, cell viability of smooth titanium surface was improved by MC treatment. Compared with the control experiment and CA-treated group, smooth titanium surface treated with MC showed improved surface characteristics and cell biocompatibility.

AC/DC 하이브리드 선로의 전기환경특성 예측을 위한 축소모델 개발 (A Development of Reduced-scale Model to Predict of Environmental Characteristics of AC/DC Hybrid Overhead Transmission Line)

  • To review application of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) transmission line to HVAC T/L in operation, reduced-scale model was designed and manufactured. The arms of model were designed to change height and interval of conductors. Electrical environmental interferences were estimated by various configuration of AC 345kV and DC 250kV T/L. The interferences such as electric field intensity and ion current density were measured and converted reduced-scale factor to full-scaled. Additionally, effects between AC and DC T/L were studied.

  • Railroad, a superior mode of public transportation provides safe, efficient, speedy, comfortable and economical service, has fundamentally different characteristics from airplanes, ships and cars. Among the unique characteristics of a railroad is the fact that it operates on fixed track with multiple car trains. The subway system was first selected as the best solution to difficult automobile traffic conditions and environmental problems. Seoul subway no.1line (Jongno line) was opened for service on August 15, 1974. Seoul city has completed and now operates eight subway lines (286.7km) since 1974. At present the subways operate in Busan, Daegu and Incheon city, and are under construction in Gwangju and Daejeon city. The power source for subway trains has been electricity since 1896, and power supply systems are the third rail type and/or the catenary system. The typical catenary system is the rigid bar type. R-bar and T-bar are used in the rigid bar type of catenary system, and the two types of R-bar and T-bar are uesd in Korea also. R-bar is used only for AC 25kV power supply and T-bar for DC 1,500V. From 30 years of subway experience I would like to suggest the most economic catenary system to ensure of safety, reliability and expediency for the railway lines to be constructed and the forthcoming replacement due to the life cycle after studying and analysing the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of R-bar and T-bar.
