Analysis and Countermeasures of 345kV Incheon-TP Overhead Transmission Lines Collapse (345kV 인천화력 송전선로 철탑도괴 원인분석 및 대책)

  • 345kV Incheon Thermal Power Plant Transmission Line Collapse Analysis and Countermeasures. The Typhoon Galmaegi which had been formed in July 15, 2008 diminished into a tropical cyclone and cooled the air above the West Sea. The cooled air colliding with the warm inland air caused a strong whirlwind at some places in the west seaside; the whirlwind battered the 345kV Incheon Thermal Power Plant Transmission Line to be collapsed. The resistance against wind pressure, one of the key elements in transmission line engineering, is designed to endure the pressure corresponding to the maximum instantaneous wind speed. Before the above accident happened, no transmission line has ever been collapsed by a whirlwind. So this paper is aimed to analyze causes that collapsed 345kV Incheon Thermal Power Plant transmission line and to introduce countermeasures.

  • This paper presents an algorithm capable of detecting free space for the autonomous vehicle navigation. The algorithm consists of two main steps: 1) estimation of longitudinal profile of road, 2) detection of free space. The estimation of longitudinal profile of road is detection of v-line in v-disparity image which is corresponded to road slope, using v-disparity image and hough transform, Dijkstra algorithm. To detect free space, we detect u-line in u-disparity image which is a boundary line between free space and obstacle's region, using u-disparity image and dynamic programming. Free space is decided by detected v-line and u-line. The proposed algorithm is proven to be successful through experiments under various traffic scenarios.

  • This paper describes the voltage induced at neutral line and the proper location of lightning arrester in combined 22.9 kV class distribution line jointed overhead line and cable each other Modeling is established in ATP Draw to perform simulation. Simulated distribution line at this paper consists of distribution line 4.2km and underground distribution line 2km. Overvoltage and induced voltage are analyzed at several point of combined line. Analysis results was compared to select the best point to install arrester. Such analysis technology will be applied to obtaining capacity and location of arrester in the similar combined distribution line.

  • Transmission line data are very important for studying loadflow. Short circuit data(positive sequence, zero sequence) of 345kV and 154kV line were calulated and compared with KEPCO's line characteristics data. This Paper presents method of verification and complement of line data in PSS/E loadflow data using TMLC (Transmission Line Characteritics) program.

  • Live line work is well known for mending and maintenance of electrical power equipment. Nowadays needs of electric power supply quality require live line work In Korea, live line work is needed since 765kV transmission operation and restructure of electric power industry has changed. In other words, in case of suspension of power supply on the transmission is getting hard to keep up with efficiency of transmission operation, customer's confidence and generation-limited cost. Therefore live line work is very meaningful. As the condition of 765kV Transmission both bare hand and Helicopter live line technique must be used in moderation because of economic, geographical, environmental circumstances around steel tower.

  • This paper handles, implementation of multiple access bidirectional serial communications protocol using DC power lines. The normal voltage of the power communication line maintains 24[V] corresponding to level 1 and the host drops the voltage to 12[V] on sending level 0 signal, also the clients normally keeps the line voltage to 24[V] use pull-down circuit to drop the voltage to 12[V] on sending level 1 signal. Host senses the voltage level of the power communication lines and the hosts switches power source from 24[V] to 12[V]. Experimental circuit is designed with one hosts and four clients and verified the power line voltage switching operation depending on the data signal levels on the power line.

  • If the transmission line voltage is greater than 500kV, audible noise (AN) and hum noise (HN) due to corona discharges on the conductor would be an important design factor for the conductor selection of transmission line. Also there is an aeolian noise: wind noise(WN) from the tower and the conductor due to wind. This paper presents the results of a statistical analysis of audible noise, hum noise, aeolian noise of 6-480mm$^{2}$ conductor bundle in KEPRI 765kV Test Transmission Line which was constructed to develop 765kV double circuit AC transmission line for the first time in the world. The result of the analysis shows that 6-480mm$^{2}$ conductor bundle and tower satisfy configuration the audible noise design criterion of 50dB(A).

  • This paper presents a study on characteristics and safety for human body in ELF electric and magnetic fields using statistical method. The magnetic fields from a power line can be computed given a knowledge of the currents, voltage and geometry of the line. In this paper, a statistical method for predicting the magnetic fields given the inherent indetermination of the currents is presented. But the electric field is calculated given a knowledge of the voltage and geometry of the line. The effect of unexpected fluctuations in current is modeled by the Monte Carlo simulation. The suggested method is applied to the 345kV and 765kV transmission line system, the result shows that the maximum electric and magnetic field intensity is 6.8627kV/m and 284mG in 345kV system, 2. 5590kV/m and 35mG in 765kV system, respectively.

  • This paper describes switching surge analysis for reclosing decision in 345kV combined transmission line with XLPE power cable. Reclosing operation should be decided based on the detailed technical analysis in combined transmission line because this line includes power cable section which is week on insulation. Insulation of power cable can be breakdown at the week point in case of reclosing moment. Therefore the detailed analysis has to be carried out by considering several conditions such as length ratio of power cable section, arrestor, inserting resistance, charging rate, grounding resistance, etc.. On the other hand sheath voltage on IJ(Insulated Joint) is analyzed to check dangerous condition on cable cover. Analysis is performed by EMTP/ATP. Analysis results show that reclosing can be operated as the single line-to-ground fault occurs on overhead line in 345kV combined transmission line, if the inserting resistance is considered before the operation of main circuit breaker.

We applied the 3 dimensional boundary element method to calculate induced electric fields.
