In this paper a new truss modeling technique for describing the beam shear resistance mechanism is proposed based on the reinterpretation of the well-known relationship between shear and the rate of change of bending moment in a reinforced concrete beam subjected to combined shear and moment loads. The core of the model is that a new perspective on the shear resistance can be gained by viewing the internal stress filed in terms of the superposition of two base components of shear resistance; arch action and beam action. The arch action can be described as a simple tied-arch which is consisted of a curved compression chord and a tension tie of the longitudinal steel, while the beam action between the two chords can be modeled as a membrane shearing element with forming a smeared truss action. The compatibility of deformation associated to the two action is taken into account by employing an experimental factor or internal state force factor a. Then the base equation of V=dM/dx is numerically duplicated. The new model was examined by the 362 experimental results. The shear strength predicted by the internal force state factor a show better correlation with the tested values than the present shear design.
A modified silicon direct bonding method has been developed alloying an intimate contact between grooved and smooth mirror-polished oxide-free silicon wafers. A regular set of grooves was formed during preparation of heavily doped $p^+$-type grid network by oxide-masking und boron diffusion. Void-free bonded interfaces with filing of the grooves were observed by x-ray diffraction topography, infrared, optical. and scanning electron microscope techniques. The presence of regularly formed grooves in bending plane results in the substantial decrease of dislocation over large areas near the interface. Moreover two strongly misoriented waters could be successfully bonded by new technique. Diodes with bonded a pn-junction yielded a value of the ideality factor n about 1.5 and the uniform distribution of series resistance over the whole area of horded pn-structure. The suitability of the modified technique was confirmed by I - V characteristics of power diodes and reversly switched-on dynistor(RSD) with a working area about $12cm^2$. Both devices demonstrated breakdown voltages close to the calculation values.
Effects of thin ZnO/Mg interlayers on electrical and optical properties between p-GaN and ITO were characterized for its application to GaN-LEDs. The ZnO and Mg layers were deposited to have various thicknesses (1${\sim}$6nm for ZnO and 1${\sim}$2nm for Mg) by sputtering. After RTA process, the atomic migration between Mg and ZnO and the formation of Ga vacancy were observed from SIMS depth profile, resulting in the increase of hole concentration and the reduction of band bending at the surface region of p-GaN. The sample using ZnO(2nm)/Mg(2nm) interlayer produced the lowest contact resistance with SBH(Schottky barrier height) of 0.576 eV and the transmittance higher than 83% at a wavelength of 460nm when annealed at 500$^{\circ}C$ for 3min in air ambient.
In this paper, a numerical study using finite element method with considering soil-structure interaction was conducted to investigate the stress and deformation behavior of a sheet pile wall structure. In numerical model, one of the nonlinear elastic material constitutive models, Duncan-Chang E-v model, is used for describing soil behavior. The hard contact constitutive model is used for simulating the behavior of interface between the sheet pile wall and soil. The construction process of excavation and backfill is simulated by the way of step loading. We also compare the present numerical method with the in-situ test results for verifying the numerical methods. The numerical analysis showed that the soil excavation in the lock chamber has a huge effect on the wall deflection and stress, pile deflection, and anchor force. With the increase of distance between anchored bars, the maximum wall deflection and anchor force increase, while the maximum wall stress decreases. At a low elevation of anchored bar, the maximum wall bending moment decreases, but the maximum wall deflection, pile deflection, and anchor force both increase. The construction procedure with first excavation and then backfill is quite favorable for decreasing pile deflection, wall deflection and stress, and anchor forces.
Transparent conductive oxides (TCOs) have attracted attention due to their high electrical conductivity and optical transparency in the visible region. Consequently, TCOs have been widely used as electrode materials in various electronic devices such as flat panel displays and solar cells. Previous studies on TCOs focused on their electrical and optical performances; there have been numerous attempts to improve these properties, such as chemical doping and crystallinity enhancement. Recently, due to rapidly increasing demand for flexible electronics, the academic interest in the mechanical stability of materials has come to the fore as a major issue. In particular, long-term stability under bending is a crucial requirement for flexible electrodes; however, research on this feature is still in the nascent stage. Hydrogen-incorporated amorphous In-Sn-O (a-ITO) thin films were fabricated by introducing hydrogen gas during deposition. The hydrogen concentration in the film was determined by secondary ion mass spectrometry and was found to vary from $4.7{\times}10^{20}$ to $8.1{\times}10^{20}cm^{-3}$ with increasing $H_2$ flow rate. The mechanical stability of the a-ITO thin films dramatically improved because of hydrogen incorporation, without any observable degradation in their electrical or optical properties. With increasing hydrogen concentration, the compressive residual stress gradually decreased and the subgap absorption at around 3.1 eV was suppressed. Considering that the residual stress and subgap absorption mainly originated from defects, hydrogen may be a promising candidate for defect passivation in flexible electronics.
RuO2 thin film has reasonably good conductivity and stiffness and it is thought to substitute for the cantilever beam made up of Pt and Si3N4 double layers in microactuators. Therefore, anisotopic Si etching was performed using RuO2 thin film as a mask layer in 25 wt. % TMAH water solution. In the etching temperature ranging from 6$0^{\circ}C$ to 75$^{\circ}C$, the etch rates of all the crystallographic directions increased linearly as the etching temperature increased. The etch rate ratio(selectivity) of [111]/[100] which varied from 0.08 to 0.14, was not sensitive to temperature. The activation energies for [110] direction, [100] direction and [111] direction were 0.50, 0.66 and 1.04eV, respectively. RuO2 cantilever beam with a clean surface was formed at the etching temperatures of 6$0^{\circ}C$ and $65^{\circ}C$. But the damages due to formation of pin holes on RuO2 surface were observed beyond 7$0^{\circ}C$. The tensile stress of RuO2 thin films caused the cantilever bending upward. As a result, it was demonstrated that the formation of conducting oxide RuO2 cantilever beam which can replace the role of an electrode and supporting layer could be possible by TMAH solution.

Mechanically-alloyed NiAl powder was sintered by Spark-Plasma Sintering (SPS) process. Densification and behavior mechanical property were determined from the experimental results and analysis ,such as changes in linear shrinkage, shrinkage rate, microstructure, and phase during sintering process, Victors hardness, and transver.ie-rupture-strength (TRS). Above 97% relative density was obtained after sintering at 115$0^{\circ}C$ for 5 min. Crystallite size determined by the Scherrer method was approximately 50 nm. From the X-ray diffraction analysis it was confirmed that the sintered bodies were composed mainly of NiAl phase together with Ni$_3$Al phase. Measured Vickers hardness and TRS value were 555$\pm$10 $H_v$ and 1393$\pm$75 MPa , respectively.
The power train of a concrete truck mixer reducer includes differential planetary gears to get a large reduction ratio for operating the mixer drum in a compact structure. These differential planetary gears are a very important part of the mixer reducer where strength problems are the main concern. Gear bending stress, gear compressive stress and scoring failure are the main concerns. Many failures in differential planetary gears are due to the insufficient gear strength and resonance problems caused by major excitation forces such as gear mating failure in the transmission. In the present study, where the excitation frequencies are the gear tooth passing frequencies of the mating gears, a Campbell diagram is used to calculate differential planetary gear critical speeds. Mode shapes and natural frequencies of the differential planetary gears are calculated by CATIA V5. These are used to predict gear resonance failures by comparing the working speed range with the critical speeds due to the gear transmission errors of the differential planetary gears.
Mechanical and electrical performance of anode-supported SOFC single cells were analyzed after thermal cyclic operation. The experiments of thermal cyclic cell-operation were carried out four times and performance of each cell was measured at different temperatures of 650, 700, and $750^{\circ}C$, respectively. As increasing the number of thermal cycle test, single cells showed poor I-V characteristics and lower 4-point bending strength. The anode polarization was also measured by AC-impedance analysis. The observation of the microstructure of the anodes in single cells proved that the average particle size of Ni decreased and the porosity of anode increased. It is thought that the thermal cycle caused the degradation of performance of single cells by reducing the density of three-phase boundary region.
