  • This paper presents development of a user-friendly automatic control system for ESR(Electro-Slag Remelting or Refining) process. It is a second-phase refining one, commonly applied to production of high-purity specialty steel. A primarily refined castingot acts as a consumable electrode and melts by the electric resistance heat generated when high current is induced through a slag bath. The quality of product is evaluated by its chemical composition, purity, micro-structure, uniformity, mechanical property, etc. To meet the standards, above all things, the process should be kept sound and the melt rate should track the optimum profile irrespective of environment variations.   • The computer related techniques have been developed rapidly in the field of metal removal industry. The electronic catalog for mechanical elements is one of such developments realized in recent years. As the emergence of the electronic catalogs in the 90s, it breaks the restriction of the traditional catalog and becomes a helpful and efficient tool in the field. In this paper, we develop an electronic catalog for the cutting tools of the Korea Tungsten Co. Ltd. The catalog consists of three parts: a preprocessor for tool selection, a database for tool, and a postprocessor for search result. A preprocessor for tool selection is developed under a user-friendly consideration. A database for tool consists of milling, drilling, and reaming tools with a list of cutters, inserts, and components. A postprocessor for search result consists of weight, dimension. drawing, product order number etc. of the tools. It also suggests the optimized cutting condition of the selected tool using a neural network technique which is done by an independent research group.

  • A tool to assist in designing an eco-village was developed using GIS(Geographical Information System) and RS(Remote Sensing) data and images. The difficulties of using GIS by untrained designers are resolved by simplifying the usage and making it a user friendly scenario-based tool, so that the designers with limited knowledge in GIS can use as a design tool. For this task, Da-Mu-Po, a village in Pohang, Gyeongbuk was picked as a site to test the design tool; through planning and designing as an eco friendly village, we tested the flexibility and usability of our newly developed design tool. From this experiment we also introduced test version of stand-alone GIS design tool by constructing program scenario and GUI(Graphic User Interface).

  • This paper presents an window based user-friendly designed characteristics analysis program of permanent-split capacitor single-phase induction motor. For the analysis, equivalent magnetic circuit and symmetrical coordinate method are used. The saturation effect and iron loss of stator and rotor core are considered. The analysis program is made to GUI type which can be used easily by many elementary designer. The accuracy of analysis is verified by comparison with experimental results.

  • Blockchain technology has paved the way for the rise of non-fungible tokens(NFTs) in recent years. NFTs enable the unique ownership of digital assets and harness the power of blockchain's transparency and decentralization. However, existing NFT platforms often pose barriers to entry for the public due to their technical complexity and high issuance costs. To address the problem, this paper proposes a user-friendly NFT platform with a simplified issuance process. A home page is created to allow easy NFT issuance for anyone. These advancements are expected to foster the growth of the NFT market and facilitate the development of new business models.

  • Online application for survival analysis (OASIS) and its update, OASIS 2, have been widely used for survival analysis in biological and medical sciences. Here, we provide a portable version of OASIS, an all-in-one offline suite, to facilitate secure survival analysis without uploading the data to online servers. OASIS portable provides a virtualized and isolated instance of the OASIS 2 webserver, operating on the users' personal computers, and enables user-friendly survival analysis without internet connection and security issues.

A User-friendly Remote Speech Input Method in Spontaneous Speech Recognition System

  • In this paper, we propose a remote speech input device, a new method of user-friendly speech input in spontaneous speech recognition system. We focus the user friendliness on hands-free and microphone independence in speech recognition applications. Our method adopts two algorithms, the automatic speech detection and the microphone array delay-and-sum beamforming (DSBF)-based speech enhancement. The automatic speech detection algorithm is composed of two stages; the detection of speech and nonspeech using the pitch information for the detected speech portion candidate. The DSBF algorithm adopts the time domain cross-correlation method as its time delay estimation. In the performance evaluation, the speech detection algorithm shows within-200 ms start point accuracy of 93%, 99% under 15dB, 20dB, and 25dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) environments, respectively and those for the end point are 72%, 89%, and 93% for the corresponding environments, respectively. The classification of speech and nonspeech for the start point detected region of input signal is performed by the pitch information-base method. The percentages of correct classification for speech and nonspeech input are 99% and 90%, respectively. The eight microphone array-based speech enhancement using the DSBF algorithm shows the maximum SNR gaing of 6dB over a single microphone and the error reductin of more than 15% in the spontaneous speech recognition domain.

  • The web might be today's most widely-used technology and over the past few years, the web has evolved through various phases and is a mature technology Specially, the web interface technologies, such as folksonomy, tagging, RSS have been developed and changed with respect to user-friendly. In this paper, we should apply to not only the general structure scheme but also the tagging technology for POI information management and develop POIM(POI Management tool)for it. For POI service with user-friendly, the user can available to define, modify, and delete for a specific POI object based on XML by using POIM and then these should be saved on GML.

  • This Study suggests the user-friendly game playing method of rhythm dance game focusing on the natural interaction between music and user's movement. When the existing rhythm dance games have given the limitation to users, this study chose the game playing method using beat that is consist of basic element in dance music for minimizing the limitation. Beat feeling method automatically figures out each body position value extracted with Kinect that divided into three parts of shoulder, knee, and head. Accoring to this process, users can play the game to individual dance style, not fixed rules for game.
