  • As the internet of things has come into the spotlight, wearable devices have been emerging as a new and growing market and the next hot thing in the world. However, wearable device growth in the market has not met expectations. For continued growth and diffusion of wearable devices, it is important to investigate user resistance factors to them. This study gives attention to people who have resistance to wearable devices' tendency towards innovative uses. Specifically, this study is intended to find out which factors influence consumers' resistance and intention to use wrist-worn wearable devices, which are in high demand among wearable device. Results of the study show that the relative advantage, innovation expectation, complexity, financial risk and physical risk are the predictors of innovation resistance on wrist-worn wearable devices. And consumers' resistance affects the intention of positive acceptance. These findings confirm the importance of consumer resistance to the wrist-worn wearable device.

  • Socket-outlets and plugs are essential devices that supply electric power into user appliances. During plug-out operation of an engaged plug from the socket-outlet, the consistent arc between the plug and the socket-outlet could develop into heavy fires in DC systems but only a small spark in AC systems. This paper proposes a pre-/post-electrode method to prevent plugs and socket-outlets from melting by sustaining arc energy. To implement the proposed pre-/post-electrodes, an experimental plug is manufactured with two electrodes, in which a post resistance Rs is connected in between. This paper investigates the function of the post resistance Rs, in which the best value of the post resistance Rs is obtained through simulation and experiment.

  • Purpose In recent years, mobile payment service users have been rapidly increasing. Previous researchers focused on the mobile usage situation such as the elements of mobile payment service, usage pattern, and user behaviors, and the research that is approached from the viewpoint of the user is still insufficient. The aim of this study is to suggest a acceptance-resistance motivation model of choosing a mobile payment service based on the Herzbergs Two-Factor Theory by investigating users' motivation and hygiene factors. Design/methodology/approach For the purpose, literature reviews on factors of choosing a mobile payment service were conducted and classified motivation and hygiene factors. Two hypotheses were set as follows: Hypothesis I is that motivation factors have a positive impact on the choice of mobile payment service, and Hypothesis II is that hygiene factors have a negative impact on the choice of mobile payment service. To test two hypotheses, this study conducted an online questionnaire survey and a multivariate discriminant analysis. Findings The result found that mobile payment service is more likely to be replaced with mobile by improving convenience, simplicity, and ease of use that affect the acceptance motivation of mobile payment service. This result supported the Hypothesis I but not Hypothesis II and contributed to provide implications for future mobile payment service development and marketing utilization.

  • Globally, technologies and policies are being developed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In agriculture, there's increasing interest in reducing methane emissions from paddy fields by improving water management practices. While automated irrigation systems are being developed, research on farmers' adoption intentions is lacking. This study aims to examine factors influencing farmers' acceptance of these systems using the UTAUT2 model. Results show that effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, price value, and user innovativeness positively influence acceptance intention, while perceived risk and innovation resistance negatively impact it. User innovativeness partially mediates the effects of facilitating conditions, price value, perceived risk, and innovation resistance on acceptance intention. Policy implications are proposed to promote the adoption of automated irrigation systems.

  • Sales Force Automation (SFA) is a strategic information system and one of the components of operational CRM system. SFA supports salespeople's activities such as selection of potential customers, creative value proposition, after-sales services, etc. SFA is increasingly used in many companies because it has the advantages to raise the salespeople's productivity by developing forecasting ability, value proposition ability, after sales service ability etc. Many researches have shown that implementation of SFA leads to the increase of salepeople performance, organizational performance, and quality of customer relationship. However, Some prior studies have discussed on the SFA implementation failure and pointed out that one of important causes of this failure is salespeople's resistance to SFA. Although many researches explain SFA acceptance phenomenon using Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), these researches didn't deeply investigate the salespeople's resistance to SFA. Therefore, this study focuses on the factors influencing salespeople's resistance to SFA and the relationships among these factors. This study identified three factors (salespeople's perceived loss of power, perceived loss of autonomy, and perceived time and effort waste) influencing salespeople's resistance to SFA. The hypotheses testing results showed that salespeople's perceived loss of power and perceived time and effort waste significantly increased salespeople's resistance to SFA. And salespeople's perceived loss of power plays a mediating role between perceived loss of autonomy/perceived time and effort waste and salespeople's resistance to SFA. At the end of the paper, theoretical and managerial implications of this study and the limitations and future research directions are discussed.

  • In this study, we propose a method to improve the precision of contact resistance measurement circuits using constant current method and voltage drop method, and implement a dashboard that monitors the measured data of contact resistance measurement systems through MQTT broker server. The contact resistance measurement system measures the resistance value and transmits the measured value to the MQTT broker server using wireless communications. This developed dashboard uses Node-RED and Node-RED-Dashboard to receive the resistance values of up to four contact resistance measurement systems and show them to user's monitor screen. Users can manage multiple measurement data using a single dashboard and easily interface with other devices through the MQTT broker server. Through the experimental results from real data measurements, the relative standard deviation about precision is improved to average 40.37% and maximum 64.73% respectively.

  • The optimal joint maximum-likelihood sequence estima-for using an array of antennas is derived for synchronous direct sequence-code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system. Each user employs a rate 1/n convolutional code for channel coding for the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. The array re-ceiver structure is composed of beamformers in the users' direc-tions followed by a bank of matched filters. The decoder is imple-mented using a Viterbi algorithm whose states depend on the num-ber of users and the constraint length of the convolutional code. The asymptotic array multiuser coding gain(AAMCG)is defined to encompass the asymptotic multiuser coding gain and the spatial information on users' locations in the system. We derive the upper and lower bounds of the AAMCG. As an example, the upper and lower bounds of AAMCG are obtained for the two user case where each user employes the maximum free distance convolutional code with rate 1/2. The enar-far resistance property is also investigated considering the number of antenna elements and user separations in the space.

  • Using stretch sensors, a stuttering treatment training device that improve the abnormal breathing of stutterer was designed and developed. To improve stutterer's inadequate breathing method that is one of principal reason of stammering, the device estimates breathing method by checking the changes of the stretch sensor's resistances those are put on the chest and abdomen of user. And a vocal exercise program that carry out exercises only when the user maintains the abdominal breathing was designed. Using a PIC16C711 device that includes an A/D convertor, a main controller was designed and the vocal exercises software was developed using Director and C program with graphic user interface for user convenience. The controller sends the resistance data of sensors to PC through the serial port and the software verifies the breathing method. And the device was designed that the RTS (request to send) pin of serial port in PC is used as a power source so that it can work without any battery or other power source. Three stutterers have carried out the clinical experiments using the implemented device for two months and the results showed it was excellent to alleviate the stuttering.
