UI4GSD: Design and Implementation of User Interface for Grid Service Development Based on Globus Toolkit 4 (UI4GSD: 글로버스 툴킷 4 기반 그리드 서비스 개발을 위한 사용자 인터페이스의 설계 및 구현)

  • This paper presents UI4GSD (User Interface for Grid Service Development) for grid service developers that provides an efficient and friendly development environment based on Globus Toolkit 4, Normally, implementing grid service requires special expert knowledge for Grid as well as programming, Moreover, grid service development as well as testing of the deployed service in the Globus container takes a long Time, which makes the grid service implementation very inefficient, However, UI4GSD can automatically generate a grid service interface file, a build file, and grid service class files as well as a client class file, using the information supplied by developers through GUI. In UI4GSD, a grid service is developed easily based on typical five step processes with required input data fed at each step. As, a result, UI4GSD can provide an easy and convenient development environment thereby increasing the efficiency and convenience in developing grid services.

Development of User Interface for High Frequency Digital Oscilloscope based on Python (파이썬기반 고주파 디지털 계측기 사용자 인터페이스 개발)

  • Recently, with the development of mobile communication technologies such as 5G, interest in oscilloscope technology based on high bandwidth and user-friendly UI is increasing. In this paper, we proposed a Python-based UI(user interface) SW for a high-bandwidth digital oscilloscope in connection with the study of a 13GHz band digital oscilloscope system. The proposed UI SW is designed not only to be executed integrally with the oscilloscope, but also to be run on a separate PC or laptop cooperating with the instrument through WiFi communication. Functions of the UI SW consists of displaying and analyzing signal data, storing signal data in an external storage device, generating test signal data, and reconfiguring the toolbar. Finally, we have shown that the proposed digital oscilloscope system operates normally by interworking test with the signal generator.

  • User interface technology has applied to various fields. it is considered as the powerful tool to interact between users and devices efficiently. also. before the actual study, many companies are examining a patent. In this paper, we classified the UI technologies into seven categories and perform quantitative analysis. We can understand domestic technical level and research trends of advanced countries by in this research. We provided objective patent information and we proposed the direction of the development and the way of the securing patent.

  • The public address system should be easily operated and managed by the users, and guaranteed to serve stable working in an emergency and a crisis. In this paper, In this paper, to provide power line communication based public address system users with convenience and efficiency, we implement a firmware to control communication between a PLC(: Power Line Communication) controller of the public address system and UI(: User Interface) and between a PLC controller of the public address system and PLC speakers, and develop a UI software.

  • Advances in IT technologies are developing VR content technologies that provide five senses information to users and interact with them. These VR content technologies are widely used by users not only for time and space limitations but also for providing immersion experiences. VR contents are contents that allow users to experience images that are played on the screen through five senses such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and holograms as well as visuals. VR games are also becoming more diverse in interfaces for the interaction of users with VR games. This study recognized the importance of the interface and analyzed the impact of the application characteristics of VR game UI on user experience and satisfaction from the user perspective. Research shows that VR game UI interacts with user experience and satisfaction. This appears to affect user experience based on how well people using VR game UI can understand and utilize the characteristics and functions of UI.

  • This study is a case analysis for user interface(UI) design of spectrophotometer which is widely used in the field of chemistry, biology and environment, based on user experience(UX). Generally, experimental equipment developments are centered on functionality and technology, and the interface for interaction between the user and the machine is developed only by the engineers who do not have much consideration for the users. From this background, this study tried to find out how UX could melt into UI so that a kind of spectrophotometers can be designed to help the work process of researchers in the real context by examining and analyzing the real users' experiences and also considering the developer's perspective. As a result, it was possible to improve UI and was found that redefinition of the goal of UI, time-efficiency, security, and sufficient information delivery are essential to the design of user interface for spectrophotometers.

  • An estimated 1 billion mobile phone were sold globally in the year 2006. In Korea, people watch television 3.17 hours in a day. Television isn't what it used to be. Digital TV provides both interactivity and high definition. Mobile phone also transferred from 2G to 3G or 3.5G. This means the complexity of TV and mobile phone is increased, design of user interface is more difficult. Unlike the personal computer industry, TV and mobile phone industries have no standard user interface. A comparative study for user interface between TV and mobile phone is studied. User, task, system are analyzed in requirement analysis. User interface model and interaction are also analyzed between TV and mobile phone. This study provides some insights for user interface design. First, the UI designer have to consider another products because one user using one product at the same time using another products. Experience for one product affects that for another product. Second, TV and mobile phone show very similar pattern, especially interaction task and input interaction. Third, there are not sometimes optimized experience between service operator and device manufacturer. Cooperative design between them is required.

A Study on User - centered Usability Elements of User Interface Designs in an Augmented Reality Environment (증강현실 사용자 인터페이스의 사용자중심 사용성 요소 연구)

  • In order to complete the AR UI design simply and quickly, the usable factors were studied in this thesis. The primary aim of interface design is to increase the usability. The various factors should be considered together when we evaluate the usability. The idealized usable working model is based on user-centered with the aim of perceiving the interests of users, operating easily and completing targets. In order to ensure the types of usable factors, literature survey method had been used and a total of 85 usable factors had been collected by this survey. To make the usable factors can adapt the augmented reality, the concept of factors should be redefined. We extract the items which is adaptable and user-centered, combine or delete the items that have the same meanings and finally select 25 usable evaluative factors. Then we take HCI professional as the object and collect the data by Heuristic Evaluation. We systematize the usable factors by Principal Component Analysis, and observe the correlation between the usable factors and classify those which have high correlation.

A Study on the Usability of Graphic User Interface by the User Behavior in a Mobile Music Streaming App (모바일 음악 스트리밍앱의 사용자 행태에 따른 GUI 사용성 연구)

  • As the market of music download stores moved into the mobile epoch the market was growing explosively. Recently, the digital music market tends to move from the mp3 download market to streaming service and the users can use the service on their mobile devices without reference to any inconvenient download and limited storage capacity. It was found that they mainly use the recommendation music playlist, instant player, main player and sharing of the functions of the streaming service from the user behavior research. This is noticeable features that set apart from the mp3 download service. However, the interface design of the streaming app followed the previous service and it needs the optimization of its UI design. In this study, the usability of high ranked three mobile streaming apps was evaluated. The result of the test was that Naver music and Bugs had high scores overall in four sections of the streaming service features. On the other hand, the Melon had primarily high score in color application on the service. The aim of this study is to suggest the direction of the UI design of music streaming service through the understanding of essence of streaming service and evaluation the usability test.

  • 유비쿼터스 환경에서 사용자는 언제 어디서나 주변에 편재하는 컴퓨팅 장치나 서비스를 활용하여 자신이 필요로 하는 작업을 수행할 수 있다. 이러한 컴퓨팅 장치와 서비스를 제어하기 위한 표준으로서 UPnP(Universal Plug and Play)가 각광을 받고 있다. 하지만, 기존에 개발된 UPnP 장치의 원격 제어 프로그램은 사용자의 상황 정보, 선호도 및 접근 권한에 관계없이 동일한 사용자 인터페이스를 제공하기 때문에 사용자에게 편의를 제공하는데 있어 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 극복하기 위하여 개발된 개인화 및 상황 인지를 지원하는UPnP 장치 원격 제어 프로그램의 설계 및 구현에 대해 기술한다. 제안된 원격 제어 프로그램은 사용자의 상황, 선호도 및 접근 권한에 따라 사용자 인터페이스(User Interface, UI)가 동적으로 생성되고 재구성된다. 또한 이러한 UI 개발의 편의성을 위하여 UPnP 장치 기술(description)에 따라 UI를 자동으로 생성하는 방법에 대해서도 기술한다.
