  • Nuclear energy has the potential to play an influential role in energy transition efforts than is now anticipated by many countries. Realizing sustainable human development and reducing global climate crises will become more difficult without significantly increasing nuclear power. This paper aims to probe the role of nuclear energy, external debt, and financial globalization in sustaining human development and environmental conditions simultaneously in BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) countries. This study applied a battery of second-generation estimation approaches over the period from 1990 to 2019. These methods are useful and robust to cross-countries dependencies, slope heterogeneity, parameters endogeneity, and serial correlation that are ignored in conventional approaches to generate more comprehensive and reliable estimates. The empirical findings indicate that nuclear energy and financial globalization contribute to human development, whereas external debt inhibits it. Similarly, financial globalization accelerates ecological deterioration, but nuclear energy and external debt promote environmental sustainability. Moreover, the study reveals bidirectional feedback causalities between human development, carbon emissions and nuclear energy consumption. The study offers useful policy guidance on accomplishing sustainable and inclusive development in BRICS countries.

  • In thermal energy storage system, energy collected from many types of heat source is stored in a storage tank and then supply to load for demand. Lately, practical use of thermal energy storage system and attention to essential use of energy have been increased. From this point of view, especially, a study about the energy extraction process from a storage tank is necessary. So in this study, useful rate of hot water and hot water extraction efficiency was analysed respect to dynamic and geometric parameters dominating the hot water extraction process.

  • In recent year, energy harvesting technologies from the ambient environments such as light, motion, wireless waves, and temperature again a lot of attraction form research community [1-5] due to its efficient solution in order to substitute for conventional power delivery methods, especially in wearable together with on-body applications. The drawbacks of battery-powered characteristic used in commodity applications lead to self-powered, long-lifetime circuit design. Thermoelectric generator, a solid-state sensor, is useful compared to the harvesting devices in order to enable self-sustained low-power applications. TEG based on the Seebeck effect is utilized to transfer thermal energy which is available with a temperature gradient into useful electrical energy. Depending on the temperature difference between two sides, amount of output power will be proportionally delivered. In this work, we illustrated a low-input voltage energy harvesting circuit applied discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) method for getting an adequate amount of energy from thermoelectric generator (TEG) for a specific wearable application. With a small temperature gradient harvested from human skin, the input voltage from the transducer is as low as 60mV, the proposed circuit, fabricated in a $0.6{\mu}m$ CMOS process, is capable of generating a regulated output voltage of 4.2V with an output power reaching to $40{\mu}W$. The proposed circuit is useful for powering energy to battery-less systems, such as wearable application devices.

  • This study has been carried out as a groundwork for the application of various solar systems to new telecommunications office buildings. A survey has been done to examine the present conditions of these buildings throughout the country. The exemplar cases of Japan are also studied, which provided useful feedbacks to our needs. The results of the present study could be used in developing the most appropriate(energy efficient) model for these buildings.

  • Solar energy has attracted wide attention as a promising renewable energy source. The goal of this paper is to estimate the dynamic performance of solar flat plate collector system according to the weather conditions and the capacity of heat storage tank. This study provides a detailed description of the modeling methods and materials of the system. The effects of the daily clearness index and the volume of the heat storage tank on the hourly and daily performances of the system are numerically investigated. Special attention is focused on the important system variables including the solar insolation on the collector surface, useful energy, heat loss at the collector, and collector efficiency.

  • The reduction of operation and maintenance (O&M) costs is a critical factor in determining the competitiveness of wind energy. Predictive maintenance based on the estimation of remaining useful life (RUL) is a key technology to reduce logistic costs and increase the availability of wind turbines. Although a mechanical component usually has sudden changes during operation, most RUL estimation methods use the trend of a state index over the whole operation period. Therefore, overestimation of RUL causes confusion in O&M plans and reduces the effect of predictive maintenance. In this paper, two RUL estimation methods (load based and data driven) are proposed for the bearings of a wind turbine with the results of trend classification, which differentiates constant and increasing states of the state index. The proposed estimation method is applied to a bearing degradation test, which shows a conservative estimation of RUL.

  • Linkage positions in oligosaccharides may be obtained by FAB CAD MS/MS (Fast Atom Bombardment Collision Activated Dissociation Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry). Acetylated derivatives of the linkage-isomeric trisaccharides exhibited more useful product ion patterns than the free trisaccharides and provided specific fragmentation patterns according to linkage positions. The reason for the useful linkage dependent spectra patterns of acetylated forms is related to the ability of each linkage in the oligosaccharides to absorb different levels of collision energy and rotational freedom of the individual glycosidic linkage.

  • We have studied the possibility of global noise reduction by the sound power control through selection of distribution and impedance of absorptive materials. It is necessary to investigate the relation between the global sound energy in the field and the total sound power radiated by sources. In the previous work (1,2), the authors presented a useful design method to change boundary condition that can be useful to reduce noise in acoustically small enclosures. The possibility of total acoustic potential energy reduction by acoustic source power control is examined in an acoustically small cavity. Using acoustic energy balance equation, the relation between global noise control performance and absorptive material's arrangement/impedance is deduced. Numerical simulation is performed to interpret its physical meaning in terms of absorbent's distribution and impedance.
