우리나라 온라인열람목록의 주제접근 방법 (Subject Access to OPACs in Korea)

  • To understand and analyze the variety of the subject access methods of OPACs, telephone interviews were administered to the computerized libraries in Seoul. Data was collected during 4 days in Feb. 1997, and 155 libraries were responded. It was found that 105 libraries are operating OPACs. Among the 105 libraries, almost of all provide classification number and title keyword access, however, only half of them provide subject name access. 18 libraries allow linking/browsing facility between classification number and subject name/keyword. The language of the subject name to oriental books is mainly Korean and that to the Western books is mainly English. LCSH is the major authority list used. 36 libraries, 2/3 of them are special libraries, subject name is assigned by librarian without control. Based on the results, problems and suggestions to enhance subject access capability are presented.

중등 영어과 교과서 집필의 실제 (The practical exemplification of producing English textbooks for secondary school students)

  • This study is to explore one of efficient procedures in producing English textbooks for secondary school students. According to a series of changes in the National Curriculum, new textbooks have been selected and used in English classes. Textbooks are one of the fundamental factors in teaching and learning languages together with learners and teachers. So this study emphasizes the significance of textbooks and presents the practical model of producing English textbooks including activity books, from major aspects such as planning, writing, editing, selecting, etc. The current government has made continuing efforts to improve English education development by administrating innovative policies [strategies]. However, there still remain lots of difficulties in this gigantic task, which is not an exception in the matter of textbooks. Therefore, to provide students with better textbooks, the government should not only invest great funds but also renovate the present polluted system of selecting textbooks.

조선시대 아동용 교재들 속에 나타난 정서지능 (Emotional Intelligence in Children's Textbooks of the Chosun Dynasty)

  • Seven textbooks for children used in homes and schools (sudangs) of the Chosun dynasty were examined to investigate how they taught emotional intelligence in traditional Korean society. The contents of the books were analyzed according to the 4 abilities of emotional intelligence described by Salovey and Mayer (1966): (1) perception, appraisal, and expression of emotion, (2) emotion's facilitation of thinking, (3) understanding and analyzing emotions, and (4) regulation of emotion to promote emotional and intellectual growth. The analysis showed that most of the books valued emotional intelligence and taught children how they perceive, appraise, and express emotions. The emotional ability to facilitate thinking was also emphasized, whereas the ability to understand and analyze emotions was seldom mentioned. It was also found that the regulation of emotion was emphasized; that is, children were educated to control and depress their emotions rather than to express them naturally.

  • 본 연구에서는 최근 도서관에 제안되고 있는 RFID에 대한 기술적 개요를 통해 그 유용성을 살펴보고, 적용사례를 기초로 도서관에서의 RFID 기술 적용 방안을 제시하였다. 구체적으로 그동안 바코드나 자기 테이프 등에 의존해 오던 자료의 대출 반납, 장서점검, 잘못 배가된 자료의 식별, 도난방지 등의 업무를 자동화하는 것과, 시설과 설비의 이용에 RFID 기술을 적용하는 방안을 제안하였다.

조양시대 교훈서에 나타난 부모역할에 관한 연구 (A Study on Parenting in Books for Domestic Life Education of the Chosen Dynasty period-Focusing on Parental Role of Disciplining Children-)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the parent's social cognition about disciplines in the context of korean culture by analyzing and interpretating theories of discipline and conceptions of parental role in disciplining children presented in the books for domestic life educatio of the chosen Dynasty period. The method used for this study is the historical method and the literatures of analysis are Naihun, Gyubeomseonyoung, Sasojol, Jongbo-Salimgyoungjai, Hahagjinam. Accoding to analysis, the disciplinary theory for children had the basis on the ideas that children learned through everyday expieriences and observation of surounding events, and that crytical periods of learning were at the early childhood. And parents assumed the responsibility for disciplining their children. Also the Chosen Dynasty period had the conceptions that parents had rigorous quality as well as warm-hearted toward their children and teached honor, modesty, plainess and industry.

우리의 이두향약명(吏讀鄕藥名)이 일본의 본초학에 미친 영향 (The Influence of 'Hyang-yak-myeong', Korean Idu Herbal Common Names, upon Japanese Herbals)

  • Syllabary called Idu that used the Chinese characters to transcribe the sounds of Korean was superseded by the Korean alphabet in the 15th century. In the middle of Koryo Dynasty, 'Hyang-yak-myeong'(鄕藥名), the Idu common names of herbs began to appear in herbal books of Korea as the synonyms of the Chinese names. Those Idu names were also introduced by the Japanese herbals such as 'Honzo-komoku-keimo' (本草綱目 啓蒙) and it is interesting to point out that some of them were mistakenly cited in the books for lack of the knowledge of Korean language.

'십제'설('十劑'說)의 변화·발전 과정 (Developing History of Theory on Ten Kinds of Prescriptions)

  • Objective : This study is about how the theory on ten kinds of prescriptions has been developed and how it has been applied for in prescription books and clinical texts. Methods : I made a comparison of this theory in prescriptions books and clinical texts. After it, I investigated the developing history based on it. Results and Conclusion : This theory had been used for classification of not prescription but herb, until Cho Gil(趙佶) and Seong Mugi(成無已) enlarged its meanings. The first mention about it was made by Jin Janggi(陳藏器). Yu Wanso(劉完素) gave it more definite meanings by showing prescription examples than before. Jang Jahwa(張子和) corrected what Yu Wanso explained. Besides, someone for example, Gu Jongseok(寇宗奭), Mok Huiong(繆希雍), Seo Chunbo(徐春甫), and so on added some kinds of prescription.

코퍼스를 통한 고등학교 영어교과서의 어휘 분석 (Usage analysis of vocabulary in Korean high school English textbooks using multiple corpora)

  • As the Communicative Approach has become the norm in foreign language teaching, the objectives of teaching English in school have changed radically in Korea. The focus in high school English textbooks has shifted from mere mastery of structures to communicative proficiency. This paper will study five polysemous words which appear in twelve high school English textbooks used in Korea. The twelve text books are incorporated into a single corpus and analyzed to classify the usage of the selected words. Then the usage of each word was compared with that of three other corpora based sources: the BNC(British National Corpus) Sampler, ICE Singapore(International Corpus of English for Singapore) and Collins COBUILD learner's dictionary which is based on the corpus, "The Bank of English". The comparisons carried out as part of this study will demonstrate that Korean text books do not always supply the full range of meanings of polysemous words.

  • Q+-reader, an E-Book reader system for XML based contents is introduced. The system is developed for the embedded platform, called Q+, which targets for the digital home electronics systems. The system supports XML contents and CSS based styling as described in Open e-Book standard. The system renders the e-book contents for users, so the contents are secured for a proper use. This will found an essential part of business infra for electronic books with copyright protection. The system was developed in Java language to be used in various platforms, and has an open architecture to be reusable for other standards as well.
