This paper describes the shape optimization of a blower impeller used for a refuse collection system. Two design variables, which are used to define the blade angles of an impeller, are introduced to increase the blower performance. A blower efficiency is selected as an object function, and the shape optimization of the blade angles is performed by a response surface method (RSM). Three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations are introduced to analyze the internal flow of the blower and to find the value of object function for the training data. Relatively good agreement between experimental measurements and numerical simulation is obtained in the present study. Throughout the shape optimization, blower efficiency for the optimal blade angles is successfully increased up to 3.6% compared with that of reference at the design flow rate. Detailed flow field inside the turbo blower is also analyzed and discussed.

In this study, computer applied engineering (CAE) techniques are fully used to conduct structural and dynamic analyses of a huge composite rotor blade. Computational fluid dynamics is used to predict aerodynamic load of the rotating wind-turbine blade model. Static and dynamic structural analyses are conducted based on finite element method for composite laminates and multi-body dynamic simulation tools. Various numerical results for aerodynamic load, static stress, buckling and dynamic analyses are presented and characteristics of structural behaviors are investigated herein.
A tubular centrifugal fin is designed by using various methods of analysis and design. A preliminary design method based on empirical optimum curves for centrifugal fin is used to determine the geometric parameters for tubular centrifugal fan. And, Quasi-3D streamline curvature duct-flow analysis is used to provide the primary position of streamlines and spanwise distribution of flow angle f3r generation of blade geometry based on S1 surface. Three-dimensional CFD solution then is obtained to optimize the blade design. Constriction of flow path in the region of impeller, backward swept blade, and central cone, which are introduced to improve the design, successfully remove or suppress the vortices downstream of the impeller.

Axial fans are widely used in household electrical appliances due to their easy usage and high flow rate for cooling capacity. At the same time, the noise generated by these fans causes one of serious problems. In order to calculate the noise of a fan, we develop the software IFD - Intranet Fans Design. With this software we can design, analysis the performance and predict the noise of fan. The prediction model, which allowed the calculation of acoustic pressure at the blade passing frequency and it's higher harmonic frequencies, has been developed by Lowson's equation. To calculate the unsteady resultant force of the blade, time-marching free-wake method is used. The objective of this study is to calculate the effects of number of blades, rotating velocity, and sweep angle on the noise of fan..

The influence of waves on the dynamic properties of bending moments at the root of blades of tidal stream vertical axis rotors is reported. Blade theory for wind turbine is combined with linear wave theory and used to analyse this influence. Experiments were carried out to validate the simulation and the comparison shows the usefulness of the theory in predicting the bending moments. The mathematical model is then used to study the importance of waves for the fatigue design of the blade-hub connection.
The fatigue load of a turbine blade has become more important because the size of commercial wind turbines has increased dramatically in the past 30 years. The reduction of the fatigue load can result in an increase in operational efficiency. This paper numerically investigates the load reduction of large wind turbine blades using active aerodynamic load control devices, namely trailing edge flaps. The PD and LQG controllers are used to determine the trailing edge flap angle; the difference between the root bending moment and its mean value during turbulent wind conditions is used as the error signal of the controllers. By numerically analyzing the effect of the trailing edge flaps on the wind turbines, a reduction of 30-50% in the standard deviation of the root bending moment was achieved. This result implies a reduction in the fatigue damage on the wind turbines, which allows the turbine blade lengths to be increased without exceeding the designed fatigue damage limit.

The gas turbine components is used on high temperature conditions which under severely circumstance with start-up and stop several times. Therefore, it is used nickel-base superalloys like and GTD-111DS. Damaged buckets on the t긴ade tip during operating are repaired per 24,000 hr to three times according to repair specification of manufacture. It is applied pre-heat, HIP(hot isostatic pressing) and post-heat treatment to support welding repair on blade tip effectively. On this study, It is utilize of $WRAP^{TM}$ (welding repair advanced process) method to make tension test specimens for this study, And then, material strength and characteristic for GTD-111DS was analyzed.

This paper addresses the control of free and dynamic response of composite rotating pretwisted blade modeled as non-uniform thin-walled beam fixed at the certain presetting and pretwisted angle and incorporating piezoelectric induced damping capabilities. A distributed piezoelectric actuator pair is used to suppress the vibrations caused by external disturbances. The blade model incorporates non-uniform features such as transverse shear, secondary warping and includes the centrifugal and Coriolis force field. A velocity feedback control law relating the piezoelectiriccally induced transversal bending moment at the beam tip with the appropriately selected kinematical response quantity is used and the beneficial effects upon the closed loop eigenvibration and dynamic characteristics of the blade are highlighted.
A three dimensional inviscid parallel flow solver has been developed for the simulation of rotor blades in forward flight. The computational domain is divided into stationary and rotating zones for the more efficient mesh adaptation. The conservative mesh treatment algorithm is used for the convection of flow variables and fluxes across the sliding boundary. A deforming mesh algorithm using modified spring analogy is used for the blade motion. In the present paper, detail descriptions of numerical analysis for forward flight are introduced. Some results are presented for a two bladed AH-1G rotor and compared with experimental data.
This paper presents a three dimensional shape optimization procedure for a low-speed axial flow fan blade with a weighted average surrogate model. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with shear stress transport turbulence model are discretized by finite volume approximations. Six variables from airfoil profile and lean are selected as design variables. 3D RANS solver is used to evaluate the objective functions of total pressure efficiency. Surrogate approximation models for optimization have been employed to find the optimal design of fan blade. A search algorithm is used to find the optimal design in the design space from the constructed surrogate models for the objective function. The total pressure efficiency is increased by 0.31% with the weighted average surrogate model.
