Collection and provision of information for local community by public libraries is a very important task as an infrastructure facility of local community. Therefore, in order to suggest a plan to invigorate community information service of public libraries, this study conducted a survey on users' recognition on and demand for community information service of public libraries which libraries and user perceive. Based on this survey, this study suggested a plan for invigoration of community information service of public libraries through diversification of point of contact for use of community information, development of community information contents reflecting user demand, organization of consultative councils for community information service centering on public libraries, improvement of recognition and vitalization of use of public libraries.

The purpose of this study is to activate the videorecordings in public libraries. The method of activation is to analysis of data which collected through questionnaire from respondent libraries. The results of the study are as follows : 1. The budget of videorecordings is absolutely short. 2 The acquisition policy of videorecordings is not planned because of short budget and little standard selection tool. 3. Most of public libraries wanted to exchange and use of videorecordings through interlibrary loan. 4. The subject of collected videorecordings was almost oriented to the education and motion pictures. 5. Specialized collection policy of public libraries in Pusan is not considered in videorecordings selection. 6. 87 percent of public libraries are not circulate videorecordings to the end-user. 7. Group watching planning of videorecordings in public libraries was done by monthly. 8. 70 percent of public libraries was not perform user reaction survey after watching. 9. 13 percent of public libraries has done the video tape recording of TV programming. 10. Most of public libraries had not a video to introduce themselves and user also had not a plan to create a video. 11. Most of public libraries recognized the copyright law but they wanted to reproduct the videorecordings for user with permission of authors.

This paper consists of two parts: the first part discusses general problems of microforms as transmission and storage media of research information, especially in view of user's reactions to this unconventional media. Many articles and surveys from major American library journals and other professional publications have been mentioned and reviewed to find out the common issues which could be relevent to Korean case. The latter part is the analysis of the two sets of surveys. One was done from 5 research libraries in Seoul and the other, from 150 researchers who were the users of the libraries. The major findings are: The research libraries in Korea are in the infant stage of building their microform research collection. They are doing their special effort to level up the weaknesss of the collection. Presently, general level of usage is very low, although the users showed a positive attitude toward this unaccustomed media. They are well convinced with necessity of use of microforms in their research and they have correct ideas about some of the problems they are going to face along with the eventual heavier use of the materials. They are psychologically ready to accept them and to make a good use out of them if some of the external conditions for proper use of the material would be guaranteed.

This study aims is users ensuring in public libraries and ma-eul libraries in Chang-Won city. For this purpose, This is survived about regional inhabitants and regional community. The actual conditions of public libraries and ma-eul libraries have been investigated and analysed about 4 libraries in Chang-won city. (Chang-won library, Chang-won city library, Sapa Dong-sung ma-eul library and Bong-gok ma-eul library). The ways of Users ensuring are as follows. 1. It can be formed village common lives through ma-eul library. 2. Fundamental libraries must establish in Chang-won city, and library materials must be common use. For this, All libraries must link regional information network. 3. For the strategy of ensuring the 'core-users', it is suggested from the community and inhabitants study.

This paper aims to determine the preference and use of electronic information and resources by blind/visually impaired users in the leading National Capital Region (NCR) libraries of India. Survey methodology has been used as the basic research tool for data collection with the help of questionnaires. The 125 in total users surveyed in all the five libraries were selected randomly on the basis of willingness of the users with experience of working in digital environments to participate in the survey. The survey results were tabulated and analyzed with descriptive statistics methods using Excel software and 'Stata version 11'. The findings reveal that ICT have a positive impact in the lives of people with disabilities as it helps them to work independently and increases the level of confidence among them. The Internet is the most preferred medium of access to information among the majority of blind/visually impaired users. The 'Complexity of content available on the net' is found as the major challenge faced during Internet use by blind users of NCR libraries. 'Audio books on CDs/DVDs and DAISY books' are the most preferred electronic resources among the majority of blind/visually impaired users. This study will help the library professionals and organizations/institutions serving people with disabilities to develop effective library services for blind/visually impaired users in the digital environment on the basis of findings on information usage behavior in the study.

In public libraries, there are many difficulties in fulfilling requests by users, as typically have from diverse backgrounds and purposes for visiting the library. To overcome this problem, collection development for public libraries is required to enhance the satisfaction level of users regarding public library materials. Thus, in this study, a survey was conducted of users of 10 public libraries located in Seoul to analyze their collection-use behaviors and the study finally presents collection development for public libraries in Seoul based on data acquired.

Many visually handicapped people face difficulties with using libraries. Public libraries are thus required to meet the need of visually handicapped people. Public libraries should guarantee the visually handicapped the right to use appropriate services. If so, the visually handicapped can improve their life quality by decreasing information gap and increasing information comprehension or accessibility. This study is designed to analyze how visually handicapped people can use public libraries. Based on the analysis, this study can provide actual suggestions to improve opportunities for the visually handicapped to use libraries. Data are collected from visually handicapped people who are the members of Suseong Public Library, Daegu, Korea. In specific, this study can analyze various characteristics(i.e., information needs, selection and use behavior of information sources, difficulties and gaps to access information, use behavior and service satisfaction of public library) regarding their library use by telephone interviews.

To find out the status of document delivery and interlibrary loan services and the use of information technology in special libraries, questionnaires were sent to 328 special Libraries nation wide with at least 1 librarian, listed In the Korean Libraries Statistics 1994-1995(1996). $46.6\%$ were returned and 152 Questionnaires were analyzed. For document delivery, $61.3\%$ use BLDSC$47.5\%$ use KINITI. 87 libararies $(57.2\%)$ participate In interlibrary loan activities. To send requests, FAX and telephone is used the most, while FAX and print copy is used the most to receive the requested documents. $45-75\%$ use various information technology including online databases, Internet, e-mail, etc., and the use of information technology was related to the budget of the libraries. The costs, budgets, and slowness was the problems raised by the most. To improve the document delivery services, the most urgent thing is establishing cooperative system using BBS or Internet. Network systems to facilitate interlibrary loan should be established ultimately.

The purposes of this study is to identify the perception of students' use of university libraries' public relations activities using Instagram and propose ways to improve the operation of university libraries' Instagram. To this end, the status of Instagram operations of domestic and foreign university libraries was investigated, and a survey was conducted on 292 students who used the library Instagram of their universities. Based on the research results, first, it is necessary to promote the use of libraries by using 'Library Events' information closely related to the use of Instagram by students, but planning ways to participate that can lead to practical use of libraries. Second, it is necessary to promote the role of librarians through Instagram and utilize daily communication information in order to positively affect library image recognition. Third, it is necessary to guide users on how to inquire on library Instagram and actively respond to communication with users through periodic post uploads and monitoring.

This study is to evaluate the economies of scale of the public libraries in metropolitan cities. The results of the regression analysis confirm that for all samples of libraries there is diseconomies of scale in library operations (${\Sigma}b_{n}$≒6.14∼10.91). Therefore, all the types of public libraries should be improve productivity by user-based collection development, increasing circulation turnover rate, activation of in-library use, strengthening mobile library services, rational planning of services area, development of reading programs connected with the curriculum, a new branch library plans, etc.
