  • Pole assignment controller with variable forgetting factor is generalizaed to allow the output and/or input variance to be reduced. The algorithm can give significant reductions in variance for little extra computational effort and is presented for servo-tracking using leat-squares estimation. Moreover, the use of a variable forgetting factor with correct choice of information bound can avoid 'blowing-up' of the covariance matrix of the estimates and subsequent unstable control.

  • Optimization problems may be devided into geometry optimization problems and topology optimization problems. In this paper, a method using tile equivalent material properties prediction techniques of a particulate-reinforced composites is proposed for the topology optimization. This method makes use of penalty factor in order that regions with intermediate value of design variables can be penalized. The computational results being obtained from PLBA algorithm of some values of penalty factor are presented.

  • This paper discusses tests of factor effect or contrast by the use of saturated design $k^n$ factorial design. The nine nonparametric rank measures in normality test using normal probability pot are proposed. Length's PSE(Pseduo Standard Error) test [4] which relies on the concept of effect sparsity is also introduced and extended to the margin of error(ME) and Simultaneous margin of error(SME).

  • Recently, many nations have released standard such as EN61000-3-2 to impose a limit on the harmonic current to prevent distortion of AC line and to save energy. Also, the limit on the harmonic current makes use of a trade barrier. Therefore, Power factor correction must have been suitable for a limit on the harmonic current. This paper presents AC servo motor drive to have merits of high power factor for Desk-Top Robot.

Nonparametric test for cointegration rank using Cholesky factor bootstrap

  • It is a long-standing issue to correctly determine the number of long-run relationships among time series processes. We revisit nonparametric test for cointegration rank and propose bootstrap refinements. Consistent with model-free nature of the tests, we make use of Cholesky factor bootstrap methods, which require weak conditions for data generating processes. Simulation studies show that the original Breitung's test have difficulty in obtaining the correct size due to dependence in cointegrated errors. Our proposed bootstrapped tests considerably mitigate size distortions and represent a complementary approach to other bootstrap refinements, including sieve methods.

Fast Growing Furious Races for Targeting Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptors

  • Targeting fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs) has been slow compared to other targeted cancer therapies for receptor tyrosine kinases, such as epidermal growth factor receptors. The low efficacy and variable response have limited the growth of FGFR inhibitors in clinical use. Nevertheless, recent systematic and genomic approaches have identified the biological conditions for effectively targeting FGFRs and can accelerate the development of targeted drugs. Under clinical and preclinical trials, the inhibitors started fast growing furious races to target FGFRs. Finally, FGFRs will be more actionable and targetable with more precise and effective drugs at the end of the race, passing the finish line.

A Study on the Criteria for Selection of Medical Care Facilities (의료기관 선택기준에 관한 연구)

  • There are increasing interest and need for information on health care consumer with the significance of hospital marketing and strategic planning being increasingly emphasized. This study was conducted to investigate the criteria for selection of medical facilities according to the characteristics of health care consumer by the types of medical services on a sample of 1,500 population aged 20 years and above. Major findings are as follows ; 1. When considering the criteria for selection of medical facilities into two factors, namely, quality or convenience factors, convenience factor was the major contributor for outpatient and dental services whereas it was quality factor for inpatient services. 2. Females and those residing in large cities selected medical facilities based on convenience factor in the outpatient services. In the case of inpatient service, persons who considered their present health status to be good and whose ages were 50 years old and above choose medical facilities based on quality factor. 3. Persons who considered medical facilities to be profit-making tended to choose medical facilities based on convenience factor for outpatient services. There were no differences in the cases of inpatient and dental services. 4. There was no significant difference on the criteria for selection of medical facilities according to the decision maker for selection or trust on medical facilities. On the use of health service information, selection of medical facilities was based on quality factor for those who made more use of the information in the cases of outpatient and dental services. 5. Analysis using the logistic regression model on the criteria for the selection of medical facilities with the characteristics of health care consumer as independent variables was performed. The selection of medical facilities was significantly related with residential area, sex, and use of information on medical facilities for outpatient services and with age, average monthly income, and perception of health status for inpatient services. For dental services significant association with residential area and use of information on medical facilities was seen. The results of this study, despite some limitations, can be used as baseline data for marketing and strategic planning of hospital management.

  • The purpose of this study is identifying variables that affect to learners' preference toward specific e-learning programs, using an exploratory factor analysis(EFA) method. We extract common factors that explain the correlations among variables. In the result, 8 factors were identified as main influential factors: e-learning program design(1st factor), the purpose of e-learning use(2nd factor), social and cultural issues(3rd factor), demographics(4th factor), organizational needs(5th factor), impacts of e-learning(6th factor), e-learning management(7th factor), and technical issue(8th factor).

  • The purpose of this study is to set measurement parts which are important to identify the size and shape of the head in order to produce tightly fitted hats, and to identify detailed sizes and the major factors of head shape classifications of Korean women. A total of 285 Korean women's in the age group of 18 to 35 years old. It were measured through the direct measurement method by selecting 67 measurement items. Materials were analyzed by SPSS Ver.10 and technology statistics and factor analysis were performed according to the agenda. An attempt was made to conduct factor analysis of the measured region of the head in women's. Here, this study drew the head and the facial parts horizontal size as Factor 1, the head and facial parts vertical size as Factor 2, the circumference and width item as Factor 3, the factor representing the form of head height as Factor 4, the factor expressing the proportion of the facial form as Factor 5 and the factor about the frontal and back head form on the plan of the middle as Factor 6. Through this study, we will be able to systemize head measurement materials that can differentiate Korean's head from other peoples' and can use the results in developing head shape models according to Korean's head shape by selecting major head parts needed to identify the sizes and shapes.

The Effect of Consumers' Trust in Communication with Online Fashion Mall Avatars on Performance Expectancy and Re-use Intentions (소비자의 온라인 패션몰 아바타에 대한 커뮤니케이션 신뢰가 아바타에 대한 성과기대 및 재사용의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigates the effect of consumers' trust in communication with online fashion mall avatars on performance expectancy and re-use intention. For the empirical study, 207 adults were surveyed using a 5-point Likert scale, and the results were analyzed with SPSS 21.0. The analysis reveals the following results. First, the factor analysis of trust in communication with the avatar, performance expectancy, and re-use intention revealed cognitive and affective trust as subfactors of the trust in communication with the avatar, while purchase choice expectations and performance expectancy were identified as subfactors of performance expectancy for the avatar. A total of five factors, including re-use intention, were recognized. Second, the trust in communication with online fashion mall avatars significantly positively affected performance expectancy for the avatar. Among the subfactors, cognitive trust was determined to have a greater influence on purchase choice expectations than affective trust. Third, the performance expectancy for the online fashion mall avatar significantly positively affected re-use intention. Notably, the subfactor performance expectancy had a greater influence than purchase choice expectations. Finally, trust in communication with online fashion mall avatars significantly positively affected re-use intention. Accordingly, the sub-factor cognitive trust had a greater influence on re-use intention than affective trust. The results of this study are academically significant in that they empirically test the influence relationship between trust in communication, performance expectancy, and re-use intention, considering the personal characteristics of online fashion mall avatars on consumers using the Meta-UTAUT model in the fashion field.
